SR Blog “Rules”

by SkinnyRunner

Ok, here’s the deal:

Most of what I say on here is tongue-in-cheek so don’t get your panties in a wad.  Lighten up and laugh a little  (you can laugh at me if you want).

92% of the what I say is sarcastic, 11% is patently untrue, and the other 7% is just rubbish so keep that in mind.  I’m more of a pop-up comic book than a War and Peace… although I’m less funny than a comic and more boring than W&P.  And my hair’s greasier than a McDonald’s fry machine…

Contrary to what my mom thinks, I’m not perfect: I’ll be the first to admit I’m a sinner, a screw up, and a big fat mistake maker.  Even though most everything I say is in jest, I never intentionally mean to offend anyone, so if I do, please email me at sr@skinnyrunner.com and I’ll try my best to make sure we hug it out.

EMAIL ME if you want to discuss your point of view, mine or just get something off your chest.  It’s difficult to respect the action of bad talking people on third party websites rather than discussing the issue directly.  The babysitter’s off the clock so let’s all try our best to act like adults, deal?

Likewise, even though I call myself beautiful and a supermodel way more than any sane person should, I am not sitting by the phone waiting for Ford Models to call.  In reality, I have a pretty normal sense of self-esteem.  I struggle with the same body issues that any woman, outside of Gisele and Marissa Miller, deal with.  and I still call myself awesome… way too much.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m a very average, normal girl who has a heart for the Lord, an interest (ok, more like an intense longing) for celebrity gossip and a passion for running.

I’m a conservative Republican and a Bible-believing, saved by grace, daily forgiven Christian.  Life is good and I am blessed.

I encourage everyone to comment and voice your opinion, no matter how different from mine it might be.  Salt isn’t the spice of life; variety is.  I only ask that you do it in a respectful way and I, in return, will respect you.  Then we can all get along, hold hands and sing kumbaya.

All hateful comments will be spammed.

REPOSTED: A note about blogging and SR in general:

“It’s not a concern of mine to blog the way you want, and I do not in any way feel obligated to make sure SkinnyRunner meets your needs.

At the risk of sounding supremely selfish, it’s my blog: I’m the sole owner and creator and I don’t wrestle at night in bed wondering if everyone’s happy and entertained enough with my choice of posts.  SR is no longer a personal diary-style blog, but it is a blog about whatever I choose to write about.

If you don’t like it, that’s okay too.   Hopefully you can find another blog that better fits your wants.

If you aren’t able to verbalize your opinions in a respectful way, I’m sure there’s another blog out there for you.  This one just isn’t it.”

Oh yeah, I can’t dance.  or pick fish. (that’s a picking hook in my hand)

I found your blog thanks to @FitFluential via Twitter and I’m glad I did! I’ve only read your About section so far and I love your sense of humor! I love that you don’t take life TOO seriously and you can live (laugh) a little! I can’t wait to read the rest of your blog posts. I’m inspired already. :-)

I just around to reading this and I must say your so right. A little sarcasm is needed in this world! People need to little chance to lighten up every once in a while. And thanks for not being afraid to go against popular society and say you didn’t vote for Obama and Christ is Lord…two statement that are also true of my life that people seem afraid to say. Thanks for keeping it real!

I found your blog a couple of weeks ago, and I LOVE it! I am also trying to become a better runner, and your posts are seriously an inspiration to me. Seeing as I spend half my day reading Perez, the celebrity gossip doesn’t hurt either.
PS I am a liberal Democrat, and I don’t understand why people can’t just be respectful of other people’s views. Good for you for putting it out there!

This made me smile. I am not a conservative republican;however this post shows that everyone can get along, and enjoy one another regardless of their political affiliation. I am one of those that listens to all and everyside and then forms my own opinions, generally though I lean more dem. I now daily check your blog and look for inspiration into my running (which was just started,my end goal is the disney half marathon) and came across this little blip of your rules. Thank you for giving me a smile everytime a read, and opening my eyes to a whole new running world I was not aware of!

For whatever reason, you wanted to start it and you do a great job keeping us readers in the loop. I love your sense of humor and sarcasm. As far as the “paid ads” go, who cares if you’re making money off of it. I call it smart. Keep on rocking you, bible loving, conservative, saved by grace Christian. There’s no better way to be!

Found your blog through another blogger–very awesome to discover another sarcastic, fun-loving conservative republican! I agree though…everyone needs to be respectful (not necessarily PC, though!) of one another’s views. Too often, someone will find out I’m a conservative republican (whether on FB or in person) and simply stop talking to me or un-friend me with no further discussion or reasoning. Glad you’re someone who just puts it all out there!

Love this, SR! And what I love even more is the fact that, even after professing my love for what I just read, I don’t feel at all weird coming out and saying that I’m the exact opposite of you…haven’t been to church a day in my life and worked on Obama’s campaign. There’s no judgment, no politicking, and no hurtful criticism here. It’s just your voice, your thoughts, and of course, running!

Hey!! Found your blog via someone elses and I’m SO freaking glad!! Be yourself, girl! I always try to as well. I lived in Wasilla, AK for ten years. Loved it. Hated it. You know the drill. Best people EVER, most beautiful place but L O N G winters and not quite enough summer. Plus, as I didn’t have family up there it was a little lonely. But, geez I miss it!!
So I’m the same in some regards. Religion, politics, not being PC, gossip, etc… HOWEVER, I’m (almost) 41 with 13 children – 2 foster, 5 adopted and 6 biological. Did foster care in AK for 9 years. Have 2 native alaskan children. Just awesomeness!! I’ve been preggo 7 times (you can check out my blogger for details, or hey, just ask) and other than my boobs being put back together (you breastfee 11 years!!), have never even botoxed. But I’m vain and shallow so I work my ass off (literally) to keep things above gravity… Anywho, I’m enjoying getting to know you!!

Much love from Texas!

Loved your blog until I found out your religious and political views (insert laugh). Met my husband at church (while volunteering in kids club, of all places) and voted for Obama ( not because else did) and I haven’t looked back. I guess you and my husband voted for the wrong team. But that’s ok you two are allowed to make a few mistakes in life. LOL!!!! Keep blogging and I’ll keep reading. I’ll be sure to read any of your political views with a grain of salt just like I do with my hubby. Always open minded just haven’t found any conservative arguments that would sway me to think differently:)

P.S. If only you could be a fly on the wall in the mist of our political conversations oh the things you would hear. But at the end of the day we both believe in “Cavalry”. It’s a truly amazing thing when you think about it.
Keep it skinny. T

I’ve been reading your blog on and off (more on than off) for awhile now but only read the “rules” today. I’m a procrastinator. I’m a left wing, Obama-voting, Buddhist, tree-hugging, vegan Democrat and I could not possibly care less that our opinions on such things differ. You are funny, down to earth, real, and you help keep me motivated to go run even when I’d rather sit on the couch and catch up with the Kardashians. I’ve only been running for two months now and have enrolled for numerous 10k races which in time will lead me to my first ever half marathon in September. I too have set up a running blog to hopefully keep me motivated and who knows hopefully to one day inspire someone else to get out there and give it ago like you have. Thanks again SK.

Thanks for an excellent bio! I really love how you spell it out about comments. I also liked how you don’t take yourself too seriously. I think I’m going to have to go back and start rethinking my own now…darn, I just thought I finished it. Thanks for the inspiration.
