Celebrity Dream Wedding

by SkinnyRunner on March 14, 2013

I have a funny blog for you to check out for this Cat lady Blogs and a surprise at the bottom of the post.

REBEKAH:

belize_gypsysoul

{Belize: Most people aren’t this happy when falling from a 110 ft ruin.}

Hey, hey from the Capital City! When not sitting in traffic (D.C. beat L.A. for the worst traffic…sweet), going to happy hour with Representatives (I know you wondered what they were doing), or picking cherry blossoms (huh? you’re not supposed to pick those?), I’m accomplishing big things like reupholstering chairs, drinking pina coladas in Mexico, and talking about myself.

diy_gypsysoul

{DIY: My fiancé’ is always so willing to help out with my crazy DIY projects. Now if I could only find him to help out with my next one…}

I jumped on the blogging bandwagon about a year and half ago as an outlet to revel in the many things I love in life from travel, DIY projects, working out, and photography, all with a side of humor. After all, that’s what life is really all about, right?!

I named my blog Gypsy Soul, well, because I love exploring and finding what makes me happy in that very moment. In other words, it’s a nice way of saying I’m ADD.

peru_gypsysoul

{Peru: Right after we had a spit off. Sadly he won both! Jerk.}

My blog keeps me motivated, accountable, and reminds me of all that’s good in my life. I continue blogging to capture every special moment I can. Hey, I need something tangible to show my grand kids I was actually cool.

running buddies_gypsysoul

{Running Buddies: Meet my prestigious running buddies. They’re kinda slow and have big heads, but I can beat them any day. I keep running with them to boost my own big head.}

I’m especially floating on cloud nine right now because my boyfriend recently proposed, in spite of me embarrassing him often (like nicknaming him Sunshine). Funny story, after finding out I would be featured on Skinny Runner I started uncontrollably smiling and giggling. My fiancé’ said it was the same reaction as when he proposed.

{Running: Demonstrating my favorite running pose, aka ‘the money pose’. It’s not the easiest position to run in, but it sure does look good!}

So travel on over to my blog and say hello! Hope my posts make you smile and bring out your very own inner mojo!

And check this out that Becca emailed me recently:

My fiancé and I entered a $100,000 dream wedding giveaway sponsored by a local magazine. After submitting a 2 minute video, we were chosen as one of the eight finalists!!! Hollllla! I’m trying to marry like a celeb!

northern-va-dream-wedding

The voting ends tonight at midnight; all you have to do is GO HERE and click on Becca + Brian.  That easy.  You can also watch their cute, funny entry video:

So please be a sweetheart and go vote for them.

Now tell me about your wedding (or dream wedding).  What was unique about yours, anything you would change (please don’t say your spouse), anything you loved so much you would do it again?

Favorite part, least favorite? (please don’t say the love and obey part)

The thing I would change was our wedding cake – I wish it had been bigger and more beachy, but dang it tasted good.

I had an ice cream soft serve machine at mine. That was pretty unique…except I didn’t end up getting any because someone decided to turn the lights off in the barn where our reception was (mood lighting I guess..) but they blew a breaker and it stopped working. :( Still a fun idea? :)

Congrats Becca!

My dream wedding – just the 2 of us and the pastor/notary etc (he/she can leave after the blessings/we sign our papers) in a mountain top cabin.

My wedding sucked. Courthouse after hubs graduated boot camp. No guests no pics. The marriage part is pretty great though and that’s the part that matters!

Hahah yes, the marriage is what matters!

Whoop whoop! Thanks for the big shout out and thanks to everyone who voted last night! Really means a ton to me and my fiance’, Sunshine. You da best. p.s. Wasn’t kidding about coming to my bachelorette party. I’ll even pick a place with a marathon that weekend. Well, maybe a half marathon :)

so yeah, morning of my wedding my father has a stroke- my oldest brother stayed with him at the hospital, so he missed most of the wedding too…mom walked me down the aisle, tears everywhere….reception was fun…nearly 17 years later still married to my partner in crime and Dad is fine!!

My husband sang to me at our wedding! No one knew about it but him and the preacher – big surprise – best part of the day and the only reason I cried at my wedding!!!

My husband is a Phi Gamma Delta and I’m Delta Gamma so needless to say it was quite the party (got married 8-18-12). Best part during the reception was when one of the groomsmen surprised us with the “Thunderstruck” beer game. Picture it: all the guests dressed fancy, packed in a circular formation around the dance floor, chugging their beers when the song came ’round to them. I have a great picture of me jamming out with a Bud Light. It was awesome! Besides that, I live near Cleveland and that summer it was dry, dry, and super-hot so I was really worried about being outside, sweating my garter off. But fortune would have it that the day dawned with the only 75 degree weather since practically May and not a cloud in the sky! Perfect Lake Erie wedding!

Even though I am now divorced, my wedding was still amazing in my eyes. I loved my dress, the flowers, the band, the vibe etc. And you would have loved my most favorite part- I had an amazing viennese table with a serious amount of every kind of dessert imaginable- especially an overload of chocolate cakes as requested by me, the bride. Delicious!

Our wedding was awesome. The best part was that we had the most amazing band that kept people dancing the whole time. People still tell us that ours was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. The worst part/part I would change, would probably be remembering to bring underwear that you couldn’t see through my dress. Yep, that happened. Luckily, we managed a fix at the last minute.

Besides getting to marry my Best Friend and Running Coach, I got to sing with the guy, Don Russo, who was playing at our reception. He’s hugely popular around town and just so happens
Ed that we got to land him for our reception at the same place we heard him play for the very first time. He’s a mix between John Mayer, Michael Buble and Jack Johnson. Totally awesome and singing a duet with him made my night! Sigh. I wanna be a famous singer. And a famous running blogger. And a chef. But reality calls. So for now I’ll work full time, be a wife a mom, a step mom, a singer in the band at church, a chef to my family and a runner/triathlete as much as I can!!

We had a morning wedding (in Louisiana), which was great because we were in San Francisco by midnight to begin the honeymoon. The wedding was wonderful and everything went well. The only thing I would have done differently was my hair. I don’t normally wear my hair up but I did for wedding and it just didn’t look like me. Will be married 14 years this August!

I voted. Super cute vid (and couple)!

I am not married, but my dream wedding location is the black sands beach of Hawaii. How beautiful would a white dress look on that! And you could do tons with color elsewhere. Also, a destination wedding means that there are fewer people but more close friends and family, and that sounds ideal. Now to find the right man…

Becca March 15, 2013 at 8:33 am

Thanks Kailin! Hawaii would be awesome.

Your wedding cake is beautiful! If I had to go back, I wished I would have stopped and enjoyed the day more. It was by way to fast. And my hubby was sick with a fever. He was pale, sweaty, and drank Gatorade all day. Yeah, I would change that for sure.

My Dream Wedding is either in the judges chambers or on the beach – elope style. But I want a dress, and TONS of pictures.

Becca has my vote!

My wedding is in less than 3 months! I am so excited! We are having a vintage military wedding! Planning is stressful so I am ready for that to be done and the wedding to be here already!

I have a real life wedding disaster story. Hubby and I got married in Houston in October of 2008, right after Ike came through. 17 days before the big day, I get a call from my florist informing me that our venue had been destroyed in the storm, and the owners of the venue had gone bankrupt and skipped town. We had 17 days to find a new venue for the wedding and reception and notify all of our guests of the changes… Along with several other details we had to “rearrange.” Also, our hotel blocks were ruined. One hotel was flooded, and the other gave the rooms to FEMA (I think it was FEMA) workers (understandable, but still inconvenient- we had people coming in from other states). To top it off, I live in College Station, which is 1 1/2 hrs away from Houston, so it wasn’t like I could just go out on my lunch break to look at other venues. All that happened, but despite all the drama, hubs and I got hitched, and we’re happily married and have a pretty crazy story! And I think we got in touch with pretty much everyone to let them know about the change. Only one family missed the ceremony… Oops! They made it to the party though! :)

I just started wedding planning and talking to people about what they would change about their wedding has been helpful. So far I am super excited about how everything is turning out and I can’t wait!! I would love to find a wedding competition like this because so far the budget has been the only not fun part lol

Congrats, Becca! Cool blog :) I made sure to vote early and often, as is the custom here in Chitown.

I got married in Vegas 114 years ago, in the same chapel Elvis married Ann Margaret in the movie Viva Las Vegas. I wore a pink dress, the groom wore a look of diarrhea cramps. I think he was a little nervous :) But alls well that ends well, 114 years later and 5 dozen kids (ok, fine only 3) we’re more in lurrrrve than ever.

Sucks!!! I missed voting!!! They are so super cute. I hope they win. More lead time next time please!!
When I was a lonely single gal in NYC I watched a bride being picked up at her apt across the street from me in a horse and buggy. So of course, years later, in my same apartment, I had to copy! Totally worth it. After we were married we rode the horse and buggy thru Central Park to the reception. Dreamy.

We got married in Laguna at Tivoli Too – loved it. It’s on the grounds of the Art-A-Fair during the summer and my Mom was an artist there, all my childhood summers were spend there. Since both my parents were already gone it was a nice way to honor them and feel more like they were there. Lots of great memories and I loved doing it at an all inclusive place and not separate church/reception. We weren’t active in a church back then and it just didn’t feel right to pay a stranger to marry us so my husbands brother got ordained and married us, it was really special and sweet, especially when he started crying.

Only bad is I was too relaxed/cheap about the planning and the photographer was awful and the DJ was not so great.

I would say I loved 90% of my wedding. The only part that sucked were the guests! LOL My husband’s family has a few folks who are notorious for instigating arguments and they did not disappoint. I also had one bridesmaid change out of her dress about an hour into the reception and into a mini skirt and a denim cutoff jacket like she was a Poison groupie or something. People always ask me if I am still friends with her after that (I am. But it was SO tacky!)

We were married in front of the high school where we met and fell in love so that was fun :) I would also have changed our cake, it was small and SUPER simple, too simple. I couldn’t tell you what it tasted like because we didn’t get any, but I would another tier to it and add more to it. At the time those flame less candles weren’t nearly as popular or I would have had those instead of regular ones my poor bridesmaids kept re-lighting for me :)

I loved my wedding! The best part was that I didn’t fall down the stairs (BIG accomplishment on my part, trust me) my husband bawled like a baby when he saw me walk down the aisle, and we had the BEST dancing EVER. Seriously, the highlight of the night (besides actually getting married, duh) was all of the music and dancing. I was SWEATY and POOPED by the end. Oh, and my husband gave me an impropmtu lap dance when he took off my garter. Inappropriate? Possibly. Full on awesome? Totally.

The only thing I would change would be the time. It was on a Sunday night (save that money, yo!) but we still had the ceremony start at 6 so a lot of people left early because they had work the next day. I was afraid that because we served a buffet of “finger foods” and not a “sit down meal” that if we had it earlier, people wouldn’t have enough to eat, but it turns out, we had plenty! So I would have had the ceremony start more around 4.

But I guess if that’s the only change I would make, then that’s an accomplishment! Plus, the wedding doesn’t hold a candle to the marriage (don’t get me wrong though….I loveeee me some weddings!)

Met my hubby when we were both playing rugby for our local teams. So we got married under the uprights on the field where we first met and then went to our favorite chinese restaurant for dinner. Classy, I know but we loved it!

Jemny March 15, 2013 at 4:00 pm

I loved my ceremony, all of my flowers were green and my cake was amazing! The best part was seeing my husband so genuinely haply and my in laws commenting to the fact. That being said, if I had it to do over again, I would have gotten married on a cruise with our families.

Tiffany March 15, 2013 at 4:48 pm

I wouldn’t change a thing about my weddings…that’s right plural! We were married on the beach in Grand Cayman only to come home and find out our wedding wasn’t legal in the US. Had to then get married again (in jeans and flip flops) by the justice of the peace with the secretary as our witness. We then had a HUGE picnic/backyard barbque with family, friends, and fireworks!! Couldn’t ask for more!
