Here’s a few questions from you, answers from me.
Jill asked if my phone still works after the big crack…
Yes! I just got a new one in the mail; thankfully, I had insurance on it or I’d have to go back to the Verizon Turd.
I, and 90 billion other people, have the Samsung Galaxy S3. I really like it and it’s easy to use and figure out, but it’s the only smartphone I’ve ever had so I have nothing to compare it to.
The SIM card was able to transfer over most of my contact info, but I’m missing a few… like Monica, Bri and Kristin. I think my phone hates bloggers. That or I hadn’t done a backup in a long time. my bad.
Sarah asked if I wash my workout clothes differently than my normal clothes, especially spandex items…
No, I don’t wash them any differently, but I don’t machine dry any of my spandex workout gear (capri pants, tights, compression socks, sports bras). I let those things air dry.
Other workout gear like shorts and tank tops, I toss those suckers in the dryer… “I” meaning my husband. He pretty much does all the laundry and I fold it and put it away. Captain Teamwork.
Sarah also asked if I wear sunscreen when I run outside and if so, what brand…
YES, YES, YES, I do. at least on my face. My dermatologist railed on me about it until I started being a sunscreen vigilante, although I’m still trying to get better about putting it everywhere else.
For regular training runs, I like to use easy spray-on sunscreen and the two that I have are Mission Skincare 30+ spray and Neutrogena Cooling 45 sunblock.
Mission Skincare was created by and for athletes and it’s less than $5 right now, super cheap. I keep the Neutrogena in the glove box of my car so if I forget to put it on at home, I can give myself a quick spray. And I really like the “cooling mist” part.
If I’m racing and putting makeup on (professional race pictures!), I like to use a lotion instead of a spray because it’s less greasy and I’m greasy enough as it is. I have this Mission Skincare 30 SPF lotion; it doesn’t sweat off and it’s $4.
Annette asked if my Garmin distance is longer than the race certified distances and why…
Races are measured by the shortest distance with perfect tangents, and most of us don’t run the tangents as well. Think of every corner or turn you take that isn’t as tight as possible or every time you weave around someone – that all adds distance to your Garmin.
Courses with a lot of turns or switchbacks make it harder to run the tangents, but just remind yourself to run the corners tight and keeping move forward, not side to side. No Three 6 Mafia while racing.
Diann asked why I don’t do yoga…
It just seems boring to me. I mean, I wanna sweat not stretch! I know I should try it again (I tried it once in high school and walked out), even my husband has started taking classes at a local studio! So even though it seems a little out there, I might try it with him…. one day. maybe.
word.
Kris asked what brand and color of blush I use…
I use Clinique berry delight; it retails for $21 and the only reason I chose it is the Clinique salesperson picked it out for me. And I do what she says. Funny now that I think about it since she also told me to go “a little more Christina”…
Not really. But when she asked what I was looking for, I said I wanted to look younger and showed her an inspiration photo:
Not really.
I’ve never tried it, but Nars Orgasm is supposed to be the one universally flattering color that works on most anyone.
Lisa asked what’s one of my healthier habits…
Well, I’m not into cannibalism so there’s that.
I also drink a lot of water; I almost always have a bottle of Prosecco something with me. I drink mostly plain water, but I’ll mix it up with Nuun, Lipton Diet Green Tea, or sparkling water from my SodaStream.
My good friend R surprised me with it and I love it. Lately I’ve been mixing the water with a little strawberry watermelon Crystal Lite Walmart brand because I’m po’ and it’s delicious.
An unhealthier habit is that I think one bag of candy is a serving REGARDLESS of the size of the bag. Family size 5 pound bag from Costco? one serving, doi.

You with candy is me with chips…I simply cannot open a bag without finishing the entire thing…no matter what size! We’ve stopped keeping them in the house, but I treat myself to single-serving ones when I am out eating somewhere.
I’ve been trying to drink more water, too. I keep three sticky notes on one side of my computer at work and each time I drink a whole bottle of water, I move a sticky note to the other side. The visual hint really helps me remember!
That’s a great idea about the water! I can’t wait to try.
I mark my bottlecaps with a sharpie…the more marks, the more water I’ve had that day (or week if I am feeling particularly environmentally responsible). The visual reminder is a great way to stay honest and accountable
I love Nars Orgasm blush, but I’m too Po. lol I am a die hard Crystal Light (Walmart brand) lemonade drinker. Plus add a little tequila to that by the pool and I swear it tastes like a margarita!!
I don’t drink any sodas and usually just stick to plain water. I stopped drinking soda 9 years ago and have only had the occasional sip when I’m camping in the summers. I also don’t drink any caffeine so when I want to treat myself it’s usually chocolate milk or hot cocoa.
My unhealthy habit is that if I have candy in the house I eat it all. And if there’s no candy I simply make something sweet like frosting and eat it :/
My healthy habit is that I stick with serving sizes 99.99% of the time. My unhealthy habit is that I eat dessert every night. I could be completely stuffed and about to crawl into bed but I find a way to finish a few chocolate covered pomegranates.
I do the same thing Karen…I NEED dessert every night!
Healthy habits? Uh…um…I…um…eat a salad once a year?
Unhealthy habits? All of them. Seriously though, mama loves her wine and Diet Coke. I guess if those are the worst, then you’re doing ok.
I would say that my healthier habits are that I drink a lot of water and that I rarely eat out. My unhealthy habit is my loss of self control around cookies, specifically sugar cookies. I can’t stop at just one and if they are iced…you better get out of my way.
I love Nars Orgasm! I got it for my wedding and I’ve been using it ever since!
I am really good at drinking water (2 gallons a day…no lie!) and eating really, really clean. My “unhealthy” habit is that I probably stretch and foam roll once a month!??! Yet I complain daily about being sore and having tight hamstrings…. DUMB!
I used to think that about yoga too, and then I went to a vinyasa flow class and got my butt handed to me. I sweat tons and am sore in places I didn’t know existed. And that’s my plug for yoga.
I LOVE my Samsung Galaxy S3. I went from the HTC Evo 4G LTE to the Samsung…best switch ever. I think I’ll be sticking with Samsung for a bit when it comes to cell phones.
I also want to sweat while I workout and I did not like regular yoga when I tried it. However, I absolutely love Bikram yoga. You sweat for 90 minutes while getting a cardiovascular and strength workout all in one
.
I also drink tons of water…I cannot go anywhere without having a water bottle with me. Unhealthy habit, ice cream almost every night…
My best healthy habit is that I eat real food MOST of the time. I live in a small town with no fast food restaurants so the temptation is not there.
My worst habit is Diet Coke, or as I affectionately call it, Diet Crack.
My unhealthiest habit is freakin PIZZA!! I hate that I love it!:p
Unhealthy.. ice cream, chicken wings, pizza wine… I have a lot.. I probably should do something about that .. but I run..
Love yoga.. I tried the gentle yoga… it really helps me sleep at night.
My healthiest habit: I’m great about drinking water.
My unhealthiest habit: I’m great about eating candy.
Try hot yoga! The studio I go to is fabulous and we even have a running group. Yoga and running are like peanut butter and chocolate – made for each other!
I drink a ton of water..and too much adult beverages
I love that tank!!
I have the hardest time getting enough protein every day. I’m so picky about what I like, it’s kinda sad. lol
I’m pretty good about getting in my produce though. Oh well I guess I’ll live.
I can eat chips like nobody’s business. I once ate a family sized bag of Flaming Hot Lays in one night. By myself. I don’t buy chips any more…
Healthy Habit: Hydration. And I always eat a good breakfast.
Unhealthy Habit: Finishing an evening workout, then waiting 2 hours before actually getting around to eating anything (like, dinner). Also, I do like sugar. Especially when paired with chocolate.
I drink a good amount of water, not as much as I should but an ok amount. I just love it though, I prefer a nice cold glass of water over most any drinks. Except champagne…duh. Maybe this has been covered already but I’ve never seen much about your wedding… Does your hubs have a sling on in that picture?
yeah he broke his arm 5 days before our wedding, needed emergency surgery and screws and pins. i think he was trying to get away from me….
Loving the Three 6 Mafia reference. I’m in Memphis and we love our Three 6 boys. Healthiest habit…lots and lots of water. Unhealthiest…Hot Tamales and Red Hots.
Water, water and more water and I don’t dig soda or fizzy drinks.
Cons: Lays crisps…and probably sunblock or sunscreen (even though I should be more diligent about this since I live in the equator).
Healthy- always esting a nutritious breakfast, snack, and lunch. Then it goes downhill from there. By the time I get home from work I want to eat EVERYTHING! Oh, and ice cream. A pint’s one serving, right?
Does it count as healthy if I always take my vitamins?
heck yeah.
Unhealthy habits – evening cocktail (usually with chips!)
Healthy habits – I probably drink a gallon of water every day
So funny your reason for not doing yoga – I have said that same thing for years – I want to sweat and get my heart rate up. The only yoga workout that I’ve done that I enjoyed was the P90X one and Jillian Michael’s power yoga.
I DREAM of my boyfriend doing the laundry!!!! Maybe someday… dream big
My healthy habit is eating lots of veggies… my unhealthy habit is loading everything with cheese! #cheeseaddict
ahahahahaha
Ooo I want to try the Mission Skincare mositurizer. Thanks!
My least healthiest habit is probably my contact lens care. My eye doctor scolds me every time.
I try to drink a lot of water too. If I’m in the mood for soda (or need for caffeine), I usually try to make myself drink at least two bottles of water before opening the soda. So it’s definitely not a thirst issue. Healthy/unhealthy?
Honestly, just getting up and working out every day is a healthy habit that not everyone does.
And then eating ice cream on the weekends is an unhealthy habit I’m guessing I and most everyone else does
Unhealthy habit: I can eat a bag of marshmallows in one sitting. My boyfriend now counts the number of marshmallows in the bag before he leaves everyday and then recounts them at the end of the day to see how many I have eaten.
Healthy habit: Lots of water!
You should def go to yoga! At least hot yoga and I promise you will sweat your booty off! Not that you need to because you are tiny, but you know what I mean
It might sound boring, but I promise it’s just as much a mental workout as it is physical and I sweat buckets which is awesome…and pretty gross at the same time, but it’s really really good for runners and it makes your muscles long, lean, and you feel really healthy! Do it, do it!!
I drink lots of water…to wash down all of the cadbury mini eggs that I eat!
Those things are ridiculous, so good. I actually looked for them at the store yesterday but no luck. Prob a good thing but I was sad at the moment.
I got a food scale for Christmas. Love it! I only use it occasionally, but it’s definitely helping me be more conscious about portion sizes: I totally underestimate my splurges (SIX servings of bread in one Iggy’s multiseed bagel!) and overestimate my veg servings (even broccoli, which is heavy, has to be huge to equal what I thought it did).
It would def be interesting to use a food scale and see what I’m under/overestimating too. I eat a lot so one of these days I’m going to count calories and see what the total is. Maybe.
I’m with you on the yoga, if I were to imagine my own personal hell, it would be having to do yoga…period. That P90X yoga is an hour and a half of torture…don’t do it, just don’t do it! (okay not true, the first 45 minutes is okay, the last 45 minutes is torture, that’s right, it’s really that long!)
Healthier Habit:
I try to park in farther-away parking spots, or make extra trips up and down the stairs if I need something from a different floor.
Unhealthier Habit:
My peanut butter consumption.
I also drink a ton of water. I always have my water bottle on me, and I don’t drink much else, like sodas, sport drinks, etc. I do drink a lot of tea, though. I also eat tons of veggies. I love my veggies
My unhealthier habit is over indulging in the alcoholic beverages… I drink like I’m in college. Wait, I am in college. Perfectly normal, right?
I drink a ton of water and tea. I have cut out all soda and coffee… not intentionally really but as a poor college student I just dont buy coffee or tea anymore!
I LOVE a good McDonalds cheeseburger and fries every once in a while. SO bad….
