It’s Saturday so I ran a marathon

I drove up to Huntington Beach this morning, ran a marathon on the beach path, and then did a little post-race pizza action.

Pizza Nova in Solana Beach has a great lunch special: $9 for a house salad (with candied nuts, dried cranberries, apple slices, and feta) a personal pizza, and those addictive buttery garlic rolls.

Now we’re headed down to San Diego because we’re on the lam to run a womens half marathon in the morning. Well, one of us will run the race and the other will just run from the police.

*I’m blogging from my phone and I’d apologize for the crappiness, but we both know you’re used to it by now.

Wow, that’s awesome! You make it sound so easy, like it’s a normal thing to do, that people just do (run a marathon, that is).
How come you didn’t join a race? :)

Oh I did run a race. It was a small local one through rocket racing.

You are crazy woman. Nice time for a spur of the moment race. You amaze me. Now I want Pizza Nova. :) See you tomorrow!

I’m doing the women’s half too! Hopefully the San Diego harbor can handle all the estrogen…

You rock!!! I hope that with time and many miles I can get to the point where running a marathon is no big deal. Thanks for inspiring me to put my running shoes on and get out there every day!

Great job on the race! I love your purple outfit.

I also love how you were like “drove up to Huntington Beach, ran a marathon, ate some pizza” NBD, like it was as simple as a five mile run. Oh to be SR….

You rock! I always read, but never comment (and this comment could be a result of the glass of pinot noir I’m having, but, I digress) your humble attitude, witty sarcasm and inspiring times is what keeps me coming back! Thank you for being an awesome inspiration to all of us runners out there :)

Have you done the Goofy Challenge in January?

Hopefully I’ll meet up with you in Chicago for the marathon in October.

Great job. I love those small local races. Charlie Alewine puts on some great ones pretty much every weekend, fun trails mixed in there too. http://www.charliealewineracing.com/

My hubs lived in So. Cal for 7 years (Newport, Huntington, and then downtown San Diego). I keep telling him we need to move back…..the reason being? Ya, that there are more races and better running conditions. He doesn’t think that qualifies as a good reason. I don’t get it. He’s so irrational!

True SR style…so I had a cup of coffee, then I ran a marathon. NBD. Bahaha dig your easy going style. :)

What do you think of that Garmin? I got mine – the same one, I think it is the 410 less than 2 years ago — it never held a charge, I did take it through a tough mudder, but regardless — it started to get worse and worse, the charger fell apart, I ordered a new one. Now it won’t charge. But if you plug it in it will say 100%. Unplug it, it says 0%. I have it at my local running shop and they’re trying to tweak it but I’m this close to writing a friendly letter to Garmin, packaging all of $400 package and telling them to shove it up their @$$….
Hopefully you have a better story

Oh what I would give to be able to wake up and run a marathon for fun the day before a half. You’re nuts and I love it. Have fun!

I can barely walk after a marathon and here you are running a half the next day! You are super-woman!

Way to go! I think running a half after is a great idea, especially if you keep it slower and just let your legs move. You’ll rock both I’m sure!

Ok so not to be a creeper, but I’m pretty sure I ran past you. My dad and I are training for LA and we’ve been doing the long ones at the beach. Not like you’d remember, but I had red sunglasses and a blue running jacket and he had a white shirt and a hat and regular glasses.

Huntington Beach is my favorite place in California.

It’s on my racing bucket list to run a race there! :)

I have to finish my first half marathon first, though!
