Marni likes my race outfit

by SkinnyRunner on February 3, 2013

I know you’re supposed to get a massage 24-48 hours after a marathon, but I got one last night before the race.  oops.

My in-laws gave me a massage gift certificate for my birthday, and my parents gave my husband one for Christmas so he surprised me last night with appointments for us both.

I love when he takes charge and plans things so I wasn’t going to start complaining.  Plus, my therapist worked me over.  I asked for someone strong and they gave me She-Ra.  A couple times I almost asked her to give me a moment to breath, but I figured if it hurts, she must really be getting the knots out?

Either way, it was painful enough to be counted as a strength training session.  But I feel good this morning!

My outfit for the race:

20130202_170648 (401x800)

*New chevron BIC Band and new ponytail holders

*Moving Comfort Vixen sports bra

*Reebok tank top (I think this is the one, it’s on sale)

*New Candy Stripe RunningSkirts (use code SHARETHELOVE13 for 15% off)

*Pro Compression black socks

*Mizuno Wave Rider 16s

Marni digs the tank, at least for a pillow…

A long time ago in a land far away I once thought about trying to PR this race, but that was before I lost motivation to run hard so I’m just gonna go run whatever.  That seems to be what I do best.

I’m off to pick up my buddy and head to the start!

Off to run #41

We get weekly massages for track and I love it. But it really hurts a ton. I hate the foam roller for that same reason. It’s so worth it to keep your legs fresh though.
Love love loveee the running skirt! Good luck today :)

Good luck! How do you like the Wave Rider 16s? I have the same pair and really like them excepts for how airy they are…probably fine for CA weather, but not for winters in the northeast.

I love them. They are definitely lighter than the 15 but I absolutely love them

I love the running skirt! I’m going to have to get one from that company. I’ve got a couple from lululemon and one from Nike. I’m starting to wonder why I waited so long to run in skirts.

What a fantastic outfit! I listed after that skirt, but ended up getting a plain re one instead since it is part of my costume for the Princess 1/2. Almost changed out whole theme just for that skirt.

Good luck today!

Love the skirt!
You are funny about the motivation and running hard – your easy run is pretty hard for lots of people!!!
Whether you PRd or not, I hope you had a great race!!

I love the coordination today! I just got my first pair of compression socks & I’m kind of obsessed with them. They’ve done wonders for my calves!

Good luck! Maybe you stumbled upon an amazing way to rock a marathon by doing the massage first! Who knows.

I can’t believe you got a massage before the race, I’d be miserable! Good luck. If you don’t PR at least you’ll have the cutest outfit there :)

Congratulations on your #41! I love love love your outfit! I have to say that the skirt isn’t a print my eyes would naturally gravitate towards but you rock it hard! It looks so great on you! I’m gonna have to check it out. You need to model more clothes, everything looks super cute.

This may be a really dumb question…with the running skirts “running skirt” do you wear underwear under the briefs? I only own skirts with little shorts underneath. Are the briefs annoying?

Cute outfit! and Congrats on another marathon!

SkinnyRunner February 4, 2013 at 6:31 am

this one has briefs underneath it and i dont wear underwear with it, just the built-in briefs.

Reply

SkinnyRunner February 4, 2013 at 8:36 am

derrr, i meant little booty shorts, not briefs.

Hmmm…I always thought that massages are detoxing (ie remove pooled up lactic acid etc) and are best for post workouts? At least that what my sports therapist told me. Anyway, glad it works for you. I typically fit in a weekly session – Sunday evenings after a whole week and particular tough runs or long runs on Saturday and Sunday. Helps that they’re cheap (RM60 for 90min).

I really really like that outfit! The skirt is so cute, and I love the colors. I haven’t tried out running skirts yet because I really love shorts, but I almost tried one on yesterday at Dick’s Sporting Goods and I actually thought about you (haha sort of creepy, sorry) but you love running skirts!

My dog Chico does the same thing! How funny. I love the outfit.
