Did you know it’s National Vitamin Day today?
Better take the day off work and celebrate! Ok, fine, twist my arm, I will.
As a Nature Made ambassador, last week I shared with you my healthy pledge of 2013: to tone and strength train consistently. Lately I’ve been loving barre classes which (hopefully) are tightening up everything and basically turning me into Black Swan.
But we all know that you can’t outrun or out-exercise a bad diet – and what goes in your body is just as important or more than how you move it.
Nature Made wants to celebrate National Vitamin Day by making the act of taking vitamins a little more enjoyable, a little more tasty, and a little more fun with their new VitaMelts: great tasting vitamins that dissolve in your mouth (without water!) and come in a tiny, little package, so you can take them anywhere at any time. No more granny pill case.
{The two VitaMelts I’ve been taking like a boss lately: Vitamin C because of all the cold/flu bugs going around and Energy because who doesn’t want more of that goodness?!}
So tell me, what’s your healthy pledge for 2013? What are you doing to improve your health this year?
Maybe it’s improving your mental health by setting healthy boundaries in relationships, being more proactive in doctor’s appointments and check ups, filling in nutritional gaps in your diet by taking vitamins, getting enough sleep each night, or saying no to unhealthy self-talk. We all have something we can work to improve upon, no?
Nature Made® VitaMelts™ are a new “one of a kind”, enjoyable way to take your vitamins because they melt in your mouth and taste great. Discover how new Nature Made® VitaMelts™ can transform your vitamin taking experience by making it enjoyable. Visit us on NatureMade.com/VitaMelts to get a coupon.

I’m definitely working on improving my mental sanity! (I figured my husband would appreciate this more than anything else
) I’ve been putting down my phone etc etc at night and having a cup of tea to calm down before bed…working so far!
I love this! Mental health is so important and is often times overlooked. Great idea!!!
My healthy pledge for 2013 is to keep training throughout my pregnancy and to eat healthy! I don’t need to be Jessica Simpson gaining 50 lbs….no thanks!
I always take my vitamins! I’ve switched it up over the years, but right now I stick to my B12 and Fish Oil for sure!
My 2012 healthy pledge was to get in shape and I did that, so my 2013 pledge is to be proactive with my mental health. I’ve been trying to go to yoga more because that helps me clear my mind and I always feel so much better after I go!
Healthy pledge is to be smart about rehabing this injury and to do more strength training to STAY injury-free.
The Kidless Kronicles
Perfect timing on this one. My pledge is to consistently work on my hip & core strength training. Apparently I need those to run and keep the injury punks away. Who knew!?
My pledge is to cut out as much processed food as possible and make more meals at home. And probably up my vitamin intake as I always forget to take them.
I think I’ve got the exercise part of taking care of myself down, but this year I’m working on the diet part. I pretty much eat like crap, and sometimes let myself overindulge and justify it by the amount it run. But that can’t be good for my body, especially when I’m placing such high demands on it.
SO this year I’m committing to learning more about the foods I put in my body. I’ve done a lot of reading on the topic lately and I’m kind of blown away (and terrified!) by what I’m learning about what’s in a lot of foods and animal products. I’m giving the vegetarian/ plant-based diet thing a test run and so far I feel great!
I decided to actually follow a training plan for my spring marathon. It’s tough, but it also has two rest days, so I think that’s keeping me injury free better than usual.
I take so many vitamins, everyday is national vitamin day for me.
My pledge to myself this year is to try and do one chore around the house every night after my workout. Whether it is vacuuming, dusting, etc. it is one less thing I have to spend time doing on the weekends. (Laundry and dishes do not count toward this one chore every night, since those are a given.) So far it has paid off and I get to spend more time during the weekend relaxing and having fun.
I take prenatal vitamins and calcium everyday already. Even though I am not trying to get pregnant, I love what prenatals do for my hair and skin. Plus, if I happen to get pregnant I will be full of folic acid
Plus, I already make an effort to eat right and exercise so I think I have (most) of my health bases covered.
I need to work on the amount of junk food I consume each day. Some days are veggie free! I workout everyday but then sabotage myself.
I love it – one of my favourite quotes is that “abs are made in the kitchen”. What you eat is so important. Thanks for the reminder, SR!
Also, my goals for 2013 can be found here: http://lacesandlattes.com/2013/01/07/2013-the-vision-board/
I am so nerdy, I legitimately made a vision board for them!
I just started taking vitamins again. I need that extra boost! Vitamin B is my friend!
I’ve been drinking 1 gallon of water/day!
I’m trying to cut down on my intake of sugar and processed foods for this year. I hope to make that a lifestyle change that lasts far beyond this year!
I am really working on cleaning up my eating habits this year. I’m staying away from the drivethru and packing my lunch. (I figure this will save me money & calories.) I’m also really working to up my veggie intake – which before now basically consisted of green beans.
I have GOT to try these Melts-they look really awesome! I’m working to attend yoga regularly and get back into running. So far so good!
I miss the personal posts rather than all of these sponsored reviews!!
I purposely and VERY intentionally don’t write as much personal stuff on my blog anymore; I’ve come to the decision that I need to respect the privacy of those close to me and the direction that I want to take the blog is a non-personal one.
I am working on keeping my hips and glutes strong and happy. And also take my vitamins. I put a week’s worth out so I know which ones I’ve taken, and it’s pretty pitiful how often I forget. Vitamin D is my friend — even with how often I get outside to run, walk, ride, hike, etc., I don’t get enough and can actually *feel* the difference. I don’t think I could never live in the PNW or eastern PA (where, every time I have visited, they have perpetually gray and cloudy skies until super pretty sunsets appear).
Duh, you don’t need to do anything else, your body is rocking. Hello!!! SKINNY runner. =)
Have you actually used that odd Shroom product? Do you know what is in it and how it works? Just making sure you are aware of what you are endorsing.
Also, and I sincerely do not mean to be a downer, I used to enjoy reading your blog, but now it seems to be so much about advertisements/endorsements. Kind of boring.
Thanks for your first comment on here, Lisa. I actually said in the post that I have been using for using it for longer, more endurance-type workouts like running 30 miles and for marathons. i also wrote out the ingredients that were in it and linked to their specific health benefits and research behind them.
as i said last week in another post, if the post bores you, feel free to skip ahead to the next one. and if it continually bores you, feel free to find another blog that doesn’t. no offense and none taken, thats just life.
Wowza! Naturemade just took over your site! Their ads are everywhere…top, sides and bottom of the blog as well as pop ups. SR, can you see this from your feed? (Maybe it’s just for the promo post, but just FYI).
The ads are through my media company so I have no say in what they are, but I’m assuming since its it’s national vitamin day that nature made is sponsoring a lot of ads today.
I am terrible at going to the doctor, and I don’t see that changing much in the near future! That gets expensive quick!
I plan on continuing to improve my diet. I am hoping to finally find a balance that works for me because I have not found one yet. I have been using some vitamins for awhile, and I like to think they are helping.
I’m working on eating better – more plants and less processed crap. I also always work out very early in the morning for at least an hour and am now mixing a blend of spinach, kale, chia seeds, flax and whatever fruit is in my fridge for post workout. Looks nasty (green or brown depending on what’s in it) but tastes good and packed with nutrition it would take me forever to actually eat!
Devoting more time to less strenous activities eg yoga and Pilates.
My healthy pledge is also to strength train consistently as well as being more mindful of the foods and I’m eating.
Just started following today and I’m so excited to “meet” you. Wanted to comment on your barre workout. I bought the “Fluidity” workout about 6 weeks ago (bought it for myself for Christmas)
and I can’t believe how it is complimenting my running! I was always a little bit of a closet ballerina, and I love this workout. For anyone interested, don’t buy from the website! The manufacturer sells this workout on Craigs List for 120.00 off, in a damaged box! Can’t wait to see where this year takes us!
I’m not aware of such celebration but thankful that vitamins were developed specially to those people who have immunity problems, one of them is me. I’m taking vitamin C since my doctor advice me to do so, I’m prone to sickness and most of the time on winter and rainy season.
