This weekend ended up a little different than planned but was still a lot of fun.
On Saturday we had passes to go to the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, but play was suspended all day because of fog. <-craycray for San Diego weather.
It was muddy and a little damp but not cold at all.
{We watched the guys practice and saw David Faherty//Salad Nicoise at the clubhouse//coffee with Kahlua//the leaderboard}
We also saw Brandt Snedeker who won last year’s Fedex Cup tournament… and the $10 million prize. Heeeeeeellllllllllloooo, there.
We didn’t see any actual golf, but it was still fun to see all the plaid pants be there; I had never been to a golf tournament before.
On the way home, the husband made a pit stop at Michele Coulon Dessertier in La Jolla, the bakery that made our wedding cake, and we shared a slice of the Gateau Eileen. It was one of the three flavors we choose for our cake and it’ so unique and different, although I’m still sorta surprised I didn’t ask the French baker for a Funfetti cake with extra sprinkle frosting.

The weekend ended with an impromptu dinner party with friends: the man grilled blue cheese encrusted filets like a boss, I made twice baked potatoes, and they brought me gorgeous flowers! love me some fresh flowers.
GIVEAWAY – SHROOM TECH SPORT//HEMP FORCE
A couple months ago I was sent a bottle of Shroom TECH Sport, a clean energy supplement that uses the caterpillar mushrooms (Cordyceps Sinensis) to increase aerobic capacity, energy and ultimately, performance. (You can see a list of the ingredients here and some of the research as well.)
“Shroom TECH Sport by Onnit provides cellular energy through the production of ATP, helping the body improve oxygen utilization so you can go longer and recover faster.”
I’ve been taking it for longer workouts (running 30 miles), recent marathons and half marathons.
We wanted clean energy, ingredients with a history of use in high-level competition, and general health benefits; we believe we have found it in our exclusive combination of cordyceps sinensis mushroom, adaptogens, antioxidants, and methyl B-12.
Onnit Labs is giving away a 30 count bottle of Shroom TECH Sport and a jar of Hemp FORCE protein that is valued at $75 to one of you!
I haven’t personally tried Hemp FORCE, but it’s a cocoa, maca and hemp protein superfood. You can read about the health benefits and research of each here.
Hemp FORCE utilizes a rich and complete protein isolated from organic hemp seeds. Containing all of the essential amino acids, all three branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), and both essential fatty acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6), the protein profile of hemp seeds makes them one of the most nutritious sources in the plant kingdom.
You had me at ‘nutritious’ and ‘chocolate’.
Onnit (based out of Austin, TX, like this lil thang) makes a ton of different products including organic coconut oil, Himalayan salt, sustainable coffee, Vega shakes, organic teas, vitamins and supplements, energy, bars, fitness gear and more.
Right now you can use the code SKINNYRUNNER and save 10% on Onnit supplements.
For the giveaway, all you have to do is comment on this post and tell me one healthy supplement or food that you take (or would like to).
With running, I’m all about joint health so I take glucosamine daily.
You can get extra entries by liking Onnit’s Facebook page and following them on twitter. Just let me know in the comments.
The giveaway will close Thursday 1/31 at 9am PST.

I thought of you when I saw that play was suspended. My hubs & I were laughing yesterday as the announcers were talking about how cold it was. We looked up the temp & saw that it was 56. People would be ecstatic to have 56 here, but I get that it’s atypical for San Diegans. Too bad you missed it though, my family goes to Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Tournament every year & it’s always such a good time.
I try to take L-Lysine daily
I take multivitamin and whey protein daily. I would love to try the hemp protein

I’m not currently taking anything but would love to find a multi-vitamin that didn’t feel “hard” on my stomach. I’ve taken both one a day women’s and the generic version and even if I eat first, my stomach feels blah after taking them. I guess I’ll pop some Flintstone’s until I find a “grown up” vitamin I can handle.
I’d like to start taking fish oil or omega-3 pills.
I take b vitamins every morning! I can always tell a difference in my energy levels when I forget to take them

When I go running my calves usually get tight really fast, I think due to low potassium. So, since I can’t have bananas I would like to try cactus sometime in the near future. I’ve been told it is very high in potassium and some even say it should be a staple in every runner’s diet.
I don’t take any supplements but would love to give a try! Instead of this I’m very careful with my diet, lots of peanut butter, bananas, chocolate, flax seeds, almonds and… chicken!
I think chicken is my supplement
How did I not know this awesome company was here in Austin?! I use Vega multi-greens in my smoothies pretty regularly. Love it.
Generally I drink a good amount of wheat grass. Mmmm. Also, I take a multi-vitamin, Osteo Bi-Flex, calcium, vitamin D3, and eat some flax seed every day. My family has a history of running and then having their knees fall apart, which scares me. I’d like to run until I am old, old, old. I love it.

Hi!! I’d like to take protein supplements more often; I find that I’m not eating meat as much as I used to, and I think that the lack of protein is affecting my training. I actually do try to make it a point to consume more protein-rich foods around my long run days, but it’s tough. I also think that I should start taking iron; I’m usually denied when I try to donate blood due to low iron. I wonder how I’d feel if I had “normal” amounts of iron in me.

I’m currently working on my Masters degree in Sports and Health Sciences (basically, nutrition and exercise) and my nutrition text recommends getting most nutrients from a healthy diet instead of supplements. However, since I rarely follow aaaaall of the rules, I take a magnesium supplement to help me sleep (pretty sure it’s simply a placebo effect, but it works so who cares?!).
Magnesium helps me to sleep & if I don’t take it I wake up & then can’t drop off again

What I REALLY wanted to say is I love David Faherty! He is hilarious when he’s on one of the Dallas sports stations. I saw him when I went to the Byron Nelson a couple of years back. Terrific guy.
I take iron. Running seems to have impacted my iron levels so it has made a big difference!
I should start taking glucosamine, these joints are breaking down over here…
This will be bizarre for most people, but chicken liver is nature’s multivitamin and has so many health benefits! I try to eat it twice a month at least. If you prepare it right, it is actually quite tasty
If I get really sore or know I have some grueling workouts coming up, I’ll take Wobenzyme. (Although my grueling workouts/runs are basically the warm up for you on your easy day
)
I always drink a whey protein shake with greens powder added to it after a hard workout.
I live in Austin and haven’t heard of this company, but would love to try their products. I take iron & fish oil daily. Need to get back on the glucosamine bandwagon.

I take glucosamine everyday too; I’ve started using it after an injury, and never stopped (and never got injured again, knock on wood). I also take a multivitamin supplement with folic acid and minerals, just to be sure
Oh, and I “liked” the FB page, and followed them on twitter. I love that they have the “veggie capsule” option!!!
I used to take a handful of vitamins including CLA, glucosamine, Magnesium, etc. prior to being pregnant. Now it’s just the prenatals for the little one
I wish I had someone to give me a road map of what to take and what not to take. I go through phases, but never notice huge results, so I don’t usually stick with anything.
I take a multi vitamin to make up for anything I might miss.
pretty much all i take (consistently) is a sports formula multi vitamin and iron supplement.
I used to take glucosamine every day but got out of the habit…need to get back into it for sure.

I liked them on fb
I take fish oil and a multi vitamin ever day. I also eat a ton of kale.
Speaking of funfetti, have you tried the funfetti dip? It so good! Just use equal parts (I usually use 1 cup of each) greek vanilla or plain yogurt and cool whip (low fat if you want to be healthy) and then add in a 1/4 cup of the dry cake mix. You can always keep adding yogurt, cool whip or cake mix to taste. I serve it with animal crackers.
yes, ive mmade it!
I take a multi-vitamin
I take cinnamon daily- it helps support sugar metabolism, as well as circulatory and heart health. As a PCOS sufferer, I’m in love with sugar and my body doesn’t process it well… bad combo leaving me zapped before my morning runs even begin! Cinnamon daily with a little food about an hour before my runs!
I take a multi-vitamin and Biotin to keep my hair growing fast!
Magnesium!!! So often overlooked, but soooo important! (P.S. following you on twitter! Also, congrats on the women’s running article and your 40(!) marathons!)
i take acidolpholus (sp?) for digestion!
