Active with Old Navy

by SkinnyRunner on January 10, 2013

WORKOUT -

Ran on TM -

5.55 miles/41 mins

1.0 incline

no music, no nothing, boring!

Yesterday I did a little shopping and checked out the Active by Old Navy line.  Now through January 16th, the active wear is up to 40% off, a pretty good price for already affordable stuff.

20130109_135314 (800x591)

I tried on eight different things but ended up buying the striped bubble active tank (on sale for $10!) in Lotus Orange and Retro Violet.  I would have bought it in black too, but it was sold out in my size.

I like loose, longer tops and you can’t beat $10 for a tank that’s cute and functional with “GoDry” moisture-wicking fabric.

I also bought the compression capris (shown above) that were on sale for $15.  They have the same moisture-wicking fabric and a little hidden pocket inside the waistband.  The heather charcoal color is dark enough to still be flattering, but it’s something different from a basic black capri.

20130109_135521 (800x600)

I wore the compression capris and the retro violet striped bubble tank to the gym this morning for a quick treadmill run.  I really liked the moisture-wicking fabric and even though I was soaking in sweat, my clothes didn’t feel heavy or wet.  And the capris stayed put and didn’t move at all!

20130110_105834 (713x800)

I had wanted the stretch pullover that Tina and Julie bought, but it was all sold out in all colors in my size.

So the very last thing that I bought was…

Sweatpants!  Well, I guess they’re really called terry cinch-leg lounge pants.  You know I got love for the Old Navy sweatpants… as evidenced here, here, here, and here.

20130109_141437 (418x800)

These terry lounge pants are so soft and comfortable that I want to wear them everywhere and have already started my campaign to make them socially acceptable in every establishment on the face of the earth.

20130109_163824 (600x800)

The pants were on sale for $17 so I ended up spending $2 over the $50 gift certificate I was given, but for 4 pieces of clothing that’s a smoking sale!

You can check out the whole Active by Old Navy line here and get it on sale for up to 40% off until Jan. 16th.

Your ability to run on treadmills for days on end is the most miraculous thing. I’ve seen your posts lately about barre classes – they are so good for runners. Maybe I shouldn’t act like I’m an expert, but doing barre has taken 30 seconds off my mile. I never get shin splints anymore and my knee troubles are gone!

Those sweatpants look every bit as stylish as Lululemon’s version of sweatpants at like a fifth the cost. SkinnyRunnerSavvyShopper. New blog title. You’re welcome ;-)

I’ve been meaning to try out their activewear, its super affordable (especially compared to what I usually buy.. hello Athleta). Love the top!

I’ve worn their sports bras in the past and like them (though it turns out 3 years is probably too long to keep the same ones), and it looks like they’re having some good sales online too. Plus I just got an email that says you can buy $25 in store (through the 23rd) and get a $10 coupon to use in store later (the 31st through the 6th). Can’t beat that in my book!

(Better than the Kohl’s Buy $50/Get $10, and I love those deals!)

I was in ON last night. I received $30 in SuperCash but in order to redeem, you have to purchase…$75 to get the $30 off. At Kohls it’s the free $10. Still a good deal though.

Thanks for this, fo real! I don’t break out of my normal running gear often, but seeing that tank on you just made me order it! I mean, if it is good enough for Skinny Runner’s 1093278409237409723 miles per year, its good enough for my 200! =)

I LOVE Old Navy – especially their compression capris. I buy every color they come out with. <3 the prices for clothing that I'm just gonna stink up anyway…

LOVE the Active line by Old Navy! I just discovered it recently as well, and ran a half marathon last weekend in the compression capris. Like you said, they stay put, woo hoo! For the price and comfort, I think I’ll be trading in my Nike DriFit capris for these!

Alyssa January 10, 2013 at 1:32 pm

Those compression capris are super cute… I am totally going to get those this weekend.

I went to old navy yesterday and literally got 7 things for $32. I never shop there but after hearing about all these deals I had to check it out! I got the bubble tank too, but mine’s bright yellow and was only $3! Steal!

Adrienne January 10, 2013 at 1:41 pm

How did the tank tops fit? Should I size up or down? Thanks!

Reply

SkinnyRunner January 10, 2013 at 2:03 pm

I got a medium which is average size for me so id say the fit is pretty standard.

I love Old Navy stuff (inexpensive!). Since I’m a student, I gravitate toward those prices and sales. I have a few of their workout clothes and like them, so I’ll be sure to check it out before the sale ends!

I got those sweatpants for $4 before Christmas and they changed my life. Not really kidding.

I have been impressed with Old Navy’s activewear line since they first started introducing it, but the closest store is about 45 min dirve, and they’re always sold out of my sizes in nearly everything :( I wish they’d build one closer!

I love the ON sports bra. They are my favorite!! I love those capris. I will have to check them out next time.

I just got back from old navy shopping for this exact stuff. Bought 2 pairs of capris, 2 bras, and a zip up jacket. They had such great deals! I like the tank you got, might have to go back

Thanks for the tip. Just ordered same style in each color. Normally I’m not an impulse buyer, but I like that they will help hide the pouch that needs to go away! Thanks!

I love Old Navy active wear. I have tons of it & it lasts awhile too. Right now I’m wearing their velour drawsting lounge pants. I got them for Christmas & have been rocking them nonstop.

All of these ON posts make me want to check it out. I never go but it looks like the workout gear is cute!

I just got my Active by ON online order yesterday & tried a couple of pieces at the gym tonight–love them! The bras seem to run a bit more snug than my C9s from Target, but that’s OK for me. The rib tank is a great length–no riding up during pullups/overhead stuff. I plan to wear my compression capris tomorrow (retro purple). So comfortable & they look very well made.

I love my ON sweat pants – totally comfy and great for lounging around the house in colder temps. Too bad they don’t have a store here.

See? This is why I read skinnyrunner.com: finding good deals for us! I love ON Activewear (and Gap is good too), and I love it even more when it is on sale. Thanks for the heads up!

I haven’t been in Old Navy in a long time. I’m a gal who doesn’t like to shop (gasp!) so I usually stick to my favorites. But for deals like these, I definitely need to check it out. Capris are my favorite for working out so I can never have enough.

I had NO idea that Old Navy started an active line – I didn’t even know Gap did until I was Christmas shopping. (I don’t get out much these days with 2 little ones). I will definitely have to check out their line – esp the capris – they look super cute (and I love that color grey). With how run-down my workout clothes get after a short time of being worn/washed, I refuse to spend a ton of $ on them anymore! Thanks for the great review =)

I have 4 ON active sports bras, which I love! I wear them inside out though because they can chafe sometimes if I’m sweaty.

I also have the compression capris, and absolutely love the way they look. However, they would not stay up on my run! I literally had to pull them up at every stop light. I wish they had a drawstring, they would be the perfect, inexpensive workout pant. Not sure if maybe they are too big or too small, but for me, they are great for everyday wear outside of running.

Thanks for the post – and Old Navy’s sponsorship is working – I went and bought one of those tops, some capris and some tall yoga pants because of this post! I love colorful capris that aren’t just black! Training for my first 10K in Feb!!!

Thanks for the feedback about this line. I was curious, but a store isn’t close by and I didn’t want to try them online without more information. :)

Darn you!!! Read this post and went to ON last night.
Got a cute half-zip in dark purple for $15 and my daughter got two pairs of those compression capris for track practice.
I really want that heather grey l/s top with the cute neckline. They said they’ll get more stuff in so now I’ll have to haunt the place ’til they do! :)

This is awesome, thanks for posting it! It’s even happening here in Canada. I just loaded up on stretchy pants and saved around 20 million dollars.

I know ON sponsored this, but I love that you posted about it. 40% is a great sale for already affordable activewear… I just went and dropped 50 bucks. Well played Old Navy. Well. Played.

And I just ordered some tights from Road Runner that were on clearance. My husband is going to cut my allowance after this recent binge.

I really wanted to hate the Old Navy Active line because your post was sponsored and I worried it was biased. Even if it was, I was amazed when I ended my boycott of Old Navy today and checked it out. I waked out with $65 worth: capris, pants (these both passed the bend over dressing room test), two tanks and a sports bra. I’m going to work out in them tomorrow and then I might be back to buy more. Love your blog- sorry I doubted you!

SkinnyRunner January 12, 2013 at 4:49 pm

that’ll teach you! haha just kidding. honestly i had never worn old navy activewear (love their affordable swimsuits and shorts) but i love the bubble tank! i think it looks like lulu or a lot more expensive, ya know?

Naomi January 12, 2013 at 7:02 pm

I got my online active order in the mail yesterday. I bought the same capris and love them. I did buy the pullover, but when I asked my husband what he thought of it he said it looked great…if I was on Star Trek. :)

i totally just bought the sweats, top, and capris that you mentioned – thanks for showcasing the goods!
