Get some clothes on: sushi date night

by SkinnyRunner on December 21, 2012

WORKOUT -

(yesterday)

Ran outside in the rain -

7.5 mile/61 mins

(today)

Ran outside with Elmer -

10.5 miles/1:24

Today was the first run in 9 days that I didn’t get rained on!  Miracles do happen.  I guess the rainy ones make you really appreciate the sunny days all the more.

DOUBLE DATE

{I wrote this post about 7-8 weeks ago and forgot to post it as it got lost in a Windows Live Writer shuffle.  Kinda random because I wrote about wanting a new hair straightener and about 2 weeks ago received one from HairEnvy.  By the way, the straightener is 50% off right now.}

Last weekend we went out on a double date with our good friends to sushi.  Looking at this picture, I really should have done something with my mop.

That reminds me: does anyone have any recommendations for a hair straightener that you can also curl your hair with?

I used to have a Chi flat iron in college, but it broke and I’d like to get another one.  There’s so many options and brands and sizes out now.  Back in the stone ages when I went to school, all they sold was two flat rocks rubberbanded together with a Bunsen hot plate.

shirt

Another one of my “I have no creativity and go for my standard” flowy top, skinny jeans and high heeled wedges.  I’m nothing if not consistent.

My mom gifted me the Free People top from Nordstrom as well as the Hinge tank top underneath.  Love these jersey tanks because they’re a little longer so they don’t ride up.

The jeans are Rag & Bone; they’re super tight but incredibly comfortable.  I like that the front “pockets” are sewed (they’re really not pockets are they if you can’t open them?) so you don’t get pocket lines.

The wedges are Diane von Furstenburg from a Neiman Marcus sale – super comfortable and one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

Anyways, we had sushi… lots and lots of sushi…

My favorite is the Rainbow Roll but I’ll try just about anything as long as it’s not too spicy.  I just can’t do spicy hot; it makes me cry baby tears.

I tried this new-to-the-restaurant Banzai Bunny sparkling sake.  I thought I’d like it, but it was way too sweet.  Even for me and I love sweet wine.  and pretty much sugar in all forms.

The table also shared a pineapple-flavored sake and a sour watermelon one.  The middle part of the bottle was filled with water and then frozen so it was like a big ‘ol ice ball:

I definitely liked the flavored sake better than the sparkling one.

Are you a sushi eater?  Sake drinker?

I like flavored sake but not the regular kind.  I swear it tastes like sweaty old foot.

My CHI iron died, shorted out(?) recently. I have my eye on a Babybliss Pro Nano Titanium recommended by a few of my stylists friends.

I have the Babybliss one you are talking about and it ROCKS!

I have that one also and it’s amazing. Check out Amazon for deals – that’s where I ordered mine. It was cheaper than what my stylist paid for hers.

That is what I have heard! I am looking forward to trying it out myself. :-)

I’m a california roll girl! I love sushi , but don’t you find you have to eat SO much of it to feel remotely satisfied/full??

I’m a flowy/loose top person too – love the one you have on!

Love that Free People top. I have a lot of their things…spendy but so cute!

And now I need to go get some sushi for dinner. Yummmmm.

I am a huge fan of sake and sushi. I will eat anything…except eel. I keep trying it but have yet to have had any eel I enjoy. My sushi place has those same sake bottles with the ice in the middle and I love them.

I love sake and sushi! My favorite is unfiltered sake (nigori) because it is a little sweeter and a lot smoother. Definitely try it!

Kim December 21, 2012 at 2:49 pm

I have never tried sake but those flavored ones sound good – sweeter the better.
I love those wedges!!!

LOVE your outfit.. If I wasn’t 15 feet tall I’d totally buy those jeans.

My CHI died after almost 10 years and I was devastated. My stylist recommended Babyliss brand and I LOVE it. I have thick, wavy hair (not as long as yours!) and it straightens it in a flash. This one (http://www.babylissus.com/product.php?pcID=206_152&product_id=137) is specifically made with the plates on the side to curl. You can get them on Amazon for pretty cheap.

For Jap, my fav is Tenzaru Udon with veggie tempura although I do have some sushi for starters sometimes. Agedashi Tofu is another option.

GHD makes an awesome flat iron. My hair atylist and personal friend for me a huge deal in Black Friday ($100 for a $225 iron!)

I just found your blog from the Fitterati page… so this is my first time here :) But I love, love, love sushi! ♥ None of the “real” sushi though lol I usually go for the Crunch Roll (tempura shrimp + cucumber + cream cheese) :)

Honestly as crazy as this sounds, an Instyler for hair like yours. I have a Chi, two actually and I love my Instyler. A friend of mine had one and I tried it and LOVED it, it’s perfect for lazy hair girls and I’m lazy when it comes to my own hair it will straighten and/or curl and I love it and it’s only 99.00 can’t beat that!

Lol I feel like you posted this anyways?!? So I LOVE rainbow rolls and sake. I actually love cold chilled sake in the summer and occasionally add a shot of cucumber vodka. Yum. No sweet sake or wines for me.

I love sushi, and have three sushi places within walking distance (and about – I think 18 in New Orleans? Probably more. But we only frequent about 4). Anything spicy with raw tuna or salmon and a good amount of avocado is my favorite.
There is a place called Ninja near the house that has the best, best, best cucumber and wasabi salad that is complimentary if you sit at the bar. That’s probably my favorite part!

There probably isn’t a sushi I won’t eat (growing up in Hawaii on tons of seafood!) but my all time fave default is Chirashi – a giant bowl of sushi rice and topped with tons of sashimi – yum!!! Heading down to So. Cal on Monday to spend the holidays with family. Where did you go for sushi? We are sushi snobs, oops! But this looks like our kind of place! My favorite “hole in the wall” that I frequented while going to college there has been closed for some time since the owner was in a car accident. The place on PCH in Newport Beach is gone as well. Running Operation Jack on Wednesday. Hope the weather holds up. Anything has to better than what it’s doing here in Seattle right now…

I love Sushi and Sake- this is def one of my favorite “go out to eat” meals. The infused sake’s are really good…but can be dangerous :)

no rain in portland, that’s like spotting a unicorn.

Ordered me a Hair Envy flat iron today. I figured that the 50% off was a win-win. I love, love, love my naturally curly hair. But, sometimes we get tired of the same ol jazz right? So,if I’m going to straighten/heat curl I’d better be legit. I’ve had Chi, Fhi, Curlmaster, and a few cheapies. We’ll see how this one does. Thanks for the sale notice!
