Yes, I ran 6 miles on the morning of a marathon.
What can I say, I just wanted to hit 30 for the day. and I’m crazy.
Yesterday I hung out at the Pro Compression booth the race expo for awhile.
{From Pro’s Facebook}
I was able to meet a lot of readers and runners which was fun: I always enjoy meeting readers. (I was nervous that no one would show up. Honestly, I was praying that at least one person would.)
{With Audrey from Eugene}
{With Brian and Melissa; they’ve run a lot of great races in the PNW}
{That red-headed girl and Jenn, another supersweet runner who’s crazy about the sport – love it}
{Janice who is running her first half marathon with her husband Ken. Good luck today, Janice!}
{With the funny Naomi and Christina; we’re besties now whether they like it or not}
{With Mary and Jenifer who were nice enough to wait for me to quit blabbing with other people. Sometimes I talk a lot…}
{I met Kaye is running and her 2 lb Yorkie Ali and fell in love.}
{Makes me miss my dog soo bad, it’s embarrassing}
{With Michelle and Heather – check out their blog here}
{I met the incredibly sweet Britt who brought me a cupcake! I’ll tell you all about it next week}
{With Kim and her lovely blonde locks. One of us brushes our hair…}
{I met Monica and her supportive man John. Running isn’t the most entertaining spectator sport so you guys who support us runners, thank you!}
{With the tiny twins Larissa and Lewanna but I think I got you backwards?}
{And lastly I was able to meet the very sweet Ivy and her man too.}
Good luck to all you ladies and gents running today and thanks again for taking the time to say hi!
For those of you who had asked on Facebook about a ProCompression discount code, FIT40 is good for 40% off and free shipping right now.
And holiday socks are coming tomorrow! You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be sporting a pair… hello, holiday runs race costume.
{A massive amount of thanks to PC for putting up with me all weekend and for partnering with me in this race. I’m extremely grateful to be able to work with a company that I completely support.}
Speaking of costumes, I better go get ready for the race:
RnR Vegas is always a special race for me…
It was my first marathon 3 years ago in 2009. I hit the wall hard and barely BQ’ed with a 3:40 and change.
It was my 12th marathon 2 years ago in 2010. I ran a then-PR of 3:22 and was over the moon about it – I couldn’t believe my legs could go that fast!
It was my 24th marathon last year in 2011; I ran a 3:26 and had a frustrating race.
It will be my 39th marathon today in exactly 3 years.
I want to enjoy today’s race and not be as emotionally keyed up as I was last year so I’m running in a homemade (read: probably going to fall apart in all the wind. Crudnuggets, it’s windy here today) Elvis costume.
I want to PR; I’d really like to run a 3:09 some time soon, but today’s not that day. Today’s for glitter, gold and some hip-swiveling action.
Viva Las Vegas!
Off to do #39

Good luck!! And thanks for introducing me to PC. I love them and have bought two pairs in the past two weeks. I can’t believe I’ve been running for the past two years without them.

Congratulations on #39, SR!! Wish you the best on today’s race. Can’t wait to read about your recap and see your awesome Elvis costume!!
I’m so excited for u! Hope u have a wonderful race.
Did writing the recaps about your previous Vegas races make u a little sentimental? It sure did me! I love that u are so real. Hope to meet u In person one day! And yes you are the reason I’ve got 3 pairs of Pro Compression socks! Lol I love them!
You are soooo sweet, Sarah – really enjoyed our conversation yesterday. I monopolized so much of your time and seriously could have stood there for hours chatting about everything running and all your experiences over the past couple of years that I’ve followed your blog. Love it! Hopefully I’ll bump into you later, but if not, I hope you have a blast out there and get that PR! Fun outfits make you run faster, right?
Hugs!
Have fun Ms Elvis! Where’s that cute pink skirt from? Love it!
Good luck today! Can’t wait to see your costume. And I have to say you’re such an inspiration, freaking #39! wow.

Very cute recap of your day! I think you actually are the reason I first started wearing Pro Compression. Good luck on #39!
The costume is awesome. Hope you have a fun race and good luck on #39!
Have an awesome time tonight running #39. Can’t wait to see the Elvis costume!
have a great race, SR! love all the people pictures!
i ordered the pro compression argyle/blue socks thanks to your promo a few weeks ago – they are awesome!
Have been a reader for a few months now, love your blog. And thanks for the ProCompression ‘coupon’, I’ve never used them before–ordered a pair and am looking foward to using them! I have a question for you, are you ever going to go the “Ultra” route? Just wondering, because holy moly you put in a lot of miles. Keep up the great work and good luck with the race and the Elvis costume, lol.
im not really sure, its intriguing to me but i feel like you need friends who also are into ultras to train together and i dont have any.
Ahh! I can’t believe you ran 6 miles BEFORE the marathon! You are crazy but still awesome in my book!
Oh man, that costume is excellent! Good luck on the run & agreed about PRO Compression….love mine!
Awesome job with the number of marathons you’ve done! Looks like a uber fun expo! That costume is the SHIZ!!
I got to the Expo waaaay to early to see you. Then I actually saw your husband at Paris on Sunday eating brunch/lunch and watched him walk back to where y’all were sitting. After we were seated, I went back to your seat to get a pic and you were GONE!!!
haha sorry we missed you! i told my husband the story and now he feels like a celebrity!
Love the costume. What race you have planned for the big 40 celebration?
Very special race indeed. I cannot wait to see your costume.
Side Note, your hair is getting SOO long. I love it!
First marathon and BQ in the same sentence is AMAZING. I remember how hard the race was for so many last year. Hopefully this year will be better.
The Kidless Kronicles
WOW at running 6 miles BEFORE a marathon!!! You are aaaaaaaamazing!
You look absolutely gorgeous and glowing! Loved all the pics with your readers. Would have loved to meet you if I wasn’t on the other side of the country(and in another country, ha!)
Can’t wait to heara bout it!
More miles on the day of your marathon … yes, you are definitely mad differently … thinking of purchasing my first compression socks … however I never go past 13 miles, does it help even at these distances?
They help with recovery for any sort of activity – walking around disneyland all day, standing on your feet, etc. i gave a couple pairs to a friend who’s a nurse bc she’s on her feet for 12 hour shifts and she loves them!
i also wear them traveling on airplanes when you get that restless leg thing going on.
Sorry to hear that the wind has kicked up. Boo. I really hope you meet your goals but know that a big part of the Vegas race is the fun of it!!!
I hope you’re Desert Double Down’ing and coming to run PF Chang’s RnR Arizona- tell ProCompression I want to see both of you at that Expo!
Oh I know you said about no more marathons for the year…but maybe, just maybe do another one to finish off 2012 with 40?
i would if there was one that fit into my schedule but i dont think there is.
I enjoyed meeting you so much! I surprised myself by being brave enough to come out of my stalker shell.
. I hope you had a great race-can’t wait to read your race report!
Thanks Monica for saying hi. Hope you had a great race.
I saw on Facebook that you went as Elvis. I love it.
You are my running inspiration!!! I haven’t raced much in several years because I always end up hurt when I train (maybe over-train). After reading your blog for awhile now, I really want to enter some races!
Hope you had a great time yesterday in your sparkly costume!!
I bet you did great!

Hi Skinny Runner! I was the one who yelled at you at about mile 2, and you gave me a fist bump.
. My husband thought I was just yelling at a really skinny runner, lol. I ran my first half-marathon yesterday, and geez it was freaking hard! So proud to have finished though!
congrats! and thanks for saying hi!
I ran my very first marathon yesterday! at mile 20 all I could think was ‘i just want my compression socks!’ They are like heaven on my feet!
congratulations rochelle! that is awesome!
Thanks for the code! I’ve been wanting to order them for a Christmas gift, but didn’t want to spend that much. I just was able to get some for my sis
I’ve been reading for over a year now and never commented, but you ran 6 miles BEFORE the marathon and this is marathon 15 for year?!?! Wow, congrats on a great year of running and thanks for all the inspiration
I have been reading your blog for several months now and I think you are such an inspiration!! There were 9 of us that raced together in Vegas and we had soooo much fun and it was my first half! I loved every min of it! EXCEPT for the fact that I totally chickened out as soon as I saw you at the expo..I think all of my friends and my hubby (who calls you my womance…ha!) think I may have a stalking prob. I felt like I had just seen Brad Pitt and got cold feet. Maybe next year?!?
hahahaha you should have come say hi! but sounds like you had a great time!
