Man, we’re so hot.

Since the Victoria’s Secret Holiday fashion show is coming up (I like to watch it sitting on the couch eating candy), here’s a video of VS Angel Erin Heatherton working it out:

In other news I feel pretty good post-relay.  I took yesterday off and ran for an easy hour today.  For the past 48 hours I’ve lived in compression tights, but I think I might have busted them with my fatty calves…

005 (800x411)

I love c. tights and wish Pro Compression would make some because hot dang, I’m busting out of these Zensah ones.  Compression tights aren’t cheap in general (these ones retail for $100), and I’m kinda bummed on the quality.  Maybe I’m just really rough on my gear?

By the way, if you’re looking for compression shorts, I have a discount code for Aspaeris shorts; email me and I’ll give you the code.

And if you’re trying to decide whether to go with compression sleeves or socks, check out this post.

In other other news, I will never have to carboload again after buying 2 sweet potatoes today…

They were so heavy they ripped the grocery bag, fell on the floor and broke.

I think Marni felt threatened.  especially since she’s been cycling between Paleo and Atkins and she’s doing low carb at the moment.

If you’re into nutrition and that sorta crap, here’s the stats on a baked sweet potato with skin:

Hey! I just recently found your blog…your such an inspiration! Any tips for on the treadmill without wanting to just quit? I’m not a long-distance runner (the most I’ve done is a 10K), and every time I get on the treadmill, I dread every second. I have to talk myself into staying on…most of the time for just 20 minutes!

yeah it is boring at times but i think its all about getting used to it and then trying to distract yourself and playing mind games. i used to hate it and now i can stand to watch the news for about 8 miles and then my brain turns off and watches the clock for the rest of the time.

Cool! Thanks! I hope I get used to it soon :) .

What is it with these freakish sweet potatoes these days? I never remember them being so enormous… I am think this is some strange conspiracy to completely replace normal potatoes.

Impressive recovery!
I make dehydrated sweet potato treats for my high maintenance (tons of allergies) dog. The potatoes have been insanely big lately!

Kari @ Running Ricig November 14, 2012 at 4:46 am

Good lord, that sweet potato is the size of your dog! Ridiculous!

It definitely looks like you’re rough on your running gear!

Those are the biggest sweet potatoes I have ever seen!

CW-X makes some great compression tights. Mine have lasted me almost 3 years so far and are just now starting to show some signs of wear. If you ever shop on The Clymb, they often have deals on CW-X. It’s hit or miss on sizes, but it’s worth looking for half the price because you’re right, they are expensive!

Glad that potato didn’t fall on Marni.

LOVE sweet potatoes. I have socks and sleeves and love them both. And thanks for the Pro Compression code. My two new pairs of argyle socks came in the mail and I LOVE them!

I love my new argyle compression socks! I’ll be wearing them at my next race, a 15k.

Side note: according to Pro Compression’s FB page, they’ll have tights coming out in January. I’ll wait until you give us a discount code to get them. I’m sure they will be awesome!

I wear 2XU compression shorts after long runs or after a particularly heavy leg workout.

Look at you changing your banner since yesterday. I like it!

My trainer ALWAYS tells me if I’m going to eat fries or potatoes, to eat sweet potatoes and sweet potato fries instead of regular because they have a lower hypoglycemic index so they don’t spike your blood sugar as much.
Of course, all those sweet potato fries now come with sweet dipping sauces, so I’m basically screwed.

Paula @ Eat: Watch: Run November 14, 2012 at 6:39 am

That’s glycemic index. Damn autocorrect added the hypo. Conspiracy.

SkinnyRunner November 14, 2012 at 6:53 am

homie i changed it like a week ago.

yeah sweet potatoes are infinitely better dipped in some sort of mayonnaise and sugar based sauce so super healthy.

Paula @ Eat: Watch: Run November 14, 2012 at 7:23 am

Whaaa? I swear the banner wasn’t like that yesterday. I guess I’ll believe you. THIS time.

Corey @ When We Wander November 14, 2012 at 7:00 am

Mmmm baked sweet potatoes are my fav! With some plain greek yogurt for dipping! I didn’t realize compression tights were sooo expensive!

Jen @ ConcreteNCoffee November 14, 2012 at 7:36 am

One time I wore my Spanx tights (I bought them for the opaque color, not really their compressing ability) after a tough, fast run and they actually felt amazing, so I wonder if in a pinch, they’d be a good substitute for sports compression gear? Plus, they’d look super-cute with a sweater dress :) Otherwise, I <3 my CEP socks.

I love sweet potatoes! I make them all the time! My favorite thing to do is slice them up in wedges and then pour a little olive oil, red pepper flakes, and a dash of cinnamon and then bake them in the oven. They are amazing with just the right amount of heat! You should definitely try it if Jaymo likes them!

Emily @ www.main-eats.com November 14, 2012 at 9:17 am

I LOVE sweet potatoes! Those two you got are HUGE!!! Sorry about your compression tights-I’ve never tried any compression gear (probably because I’m not as awesome as you!) but I definitely see the benefits!

Wow, talk about a beast sweet potato! With peanut butter?? Hmmm…. or was that just part of the grocery loot?

Reply

Gabby @ Gabby Rose Runs November 14, 2012 at 8:27 pm

Believe it or not – that’s happened to me too. It was the produce bag and I was walking to the check out lane when my sweet potatoes tore through and fell out and broke. I ashamedly and quietly put the broken one’s back and replaced them with new one’s….

Nothing worse than ripped pants :(
And try as I might, I just can’t get in to sweet potatoes…I know they are good for you though!
