So then I met Sara Hall…

by SkinnyRunner on October 20, 2012

Then she tweeted me…

And we became besties and lived happily ever after.

032 (800x435)

Sara is a Muscle Milk athlete and Muscle Milk Light was the title sponsor of the ZOOMA Great Lakes race today.

031 (437x800)

{Why yes, the Old Navy clearance capri sweatpants made another appearance on film today.  I just can’t get enough of them.}

Sara fell on a training run and broke her kneecap(?!) so she didn’t run today. obviously.  I generously offered to nurse her back to health, but apparently her husband RYAN HALL can do that.

Sara’s mom ran the half marathon today:

034 (436x800)

They are both SO nice and down-to-earth and sweet.  Sara and Ryan have spoken at my parents’ church in Washington so basically we’re family.

I expect a restraining order to be filed tomorrow.

And with Jess; I stole your pic, girl.

So anyways, I ran the race, met a bunch of rad bloggers, readers, and women and then this happened:

um, yeah…

I’m loving the compression socks paired with capris look! :-) I just ordered my first pairs from ProCompression yesterday, and can’t wait to wear them. Have you found the tighter they are, the better they serve their purpose? I was on the border of XS and SM, and decided to go with a small, and am hoping I made the right choice.

i definitely think tighter is better, but i wear smalls and they are tight. im wearing them on an airplane back home right now.

For some reason I thought Zooma was next weekend and Paso Robles Marathon was this weekend?! Then when I saw you doing Zooma this weekend, I assumed you were going to double up this weekend! Glad to see you aren’t THAT cray-cray!

Looks like a super fun event! Wish they had it in the west coast. It might be more enjoyable than NWM…

Zooma sounds pretty awesome! I missed the Cape Cod race this year. Hope to make it next year.

I see you like to just blend in with the crowd. ;)

Congrats! Obviously you were able to handle the hills just fine! (I also heard that they changed the course a bit from ly when I ran it — perhaps more people than me said they were never going to run it again :P )

Hey Sarah! I’m the weird chick who accosted you in the porta potty line before the race yesterday–we had a strange convo about checking babies at the gear check (?)…umm, anyway, it was great to meet you!! Just curious how you felt about the mega cold conditions yesterday, since you’re not from the arctic like many of the rest of us…did it help or hurt you? I noticed you were wearing a T-shirt–I was dying in long sleeves the whole time!

Also, congrats on a great finish!

Katie October 21, 2012 at 12:28 pm

dearest skinnyrunner,

today I wore my pro compression socks (that I ordered for your giveaway) in a half marathon! They felt great, especially my ankles, which were totally loose even after 13.1. But when I took them off, I discovered my lower knees had bruised from the tight band at the top! I’ve been training in the compression socks for a couple weeks and also having random knee pain, which I just realized is exactly where the bruising is. Ever happened to you? I’d try going a size up so my bony knees don’t get crushed, but I have bird ankles and I want the socks to be tight at the bottom too. I know you get a billion questions, but I’m just looking for a yes/no: have you had or heard of people having bruising from the socks? Thanks and thanks for being awesome!
