Kara and Shalane costumes

WORKOUT -

Rest day, couple walks

Today I drove down to Carlsbad to meet reader Meg at the Daily News Café for lunch.

004 (800x438)

005 (800x450)

We ran part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll DC Marathon back in March together, but then she had to go get all pregnant on me so I shunned her completely.

002 (800x450)

Meg’s in the final countdown or last trimester or whatever you call it, and still keeping up the miles and running.  It’s inspiring.   I totally thought once you got pregnant, your life was over.  Apparently not, who knew?

Thanks Meg for having lunch with me and congratulations on your pregnancy!

MAN, I LOOK GOOD

Do you remember last month I showed you this cartoon drawn by this little, fast runner?

Well, Caitlin’s at it again drawing a Halloween SR cartoon… girl is artistic and funny.

srkara1a

By the way, with all the news of Lance Armstrong and many others cheating, go check out her post on doping and running.  good stuff.

Thanks Caitlin for the cartoon!  I must say, I look good dark haired.

LOOKING FOR A RACE PARTNER?

I’m running the Paso Robles Marathon next weekend, and reader Alyssa is looking for someone to run the relay with her (so you basically run a half marathon).  Anyone interested?  Email me at sr@skinnyrunner.com

Very cute drawing, Cait!

Ahh if I wasn’t already pet/house sitting in Santa Cruz through Monday I would totally be Alyssa’s relay buddy! Although I might not be ready either since I (moronically? stupidly? spastically?) ran 26.3 miles yesterday. Yup, I’m sore today.

Two questions, sort of unrelated to this post but nevermind…

How do you do your hair in a bun and not have it fall out while running. My buns become loose and flop around on my head and annoy the bejesus out of me. What hair elastics can you recommend? Also how many marathons do you run per year?

The more I read this blog the more I want to attempt a half…

Great cartoon! Those would be fantastic Halloween costumes though!
Random question — do you have a favorite or most memorable marathon you’ve done?

NYC is probably my favorite but i loved running eugene 2 years ago with my little brother. RNR Vegas 2010 was also really special bc it was the 12th marathon i had run in 12 months and a PR and where i ran my first. so i guess i have a lot of favorites :)

Hey SR! SUPER long-time reader but first time commenter :) Your reviews of BIC Bands have actually inspired me to order some. I’m ordering a purple polka dot and a gold sparkle, both skinny (glad they cater to us gals with fine hair!). I know you partner with them, and I’ve searched your site for a coupon/promotional code for BIC Bands but can’t seem to find a current one. Do you have a coupon code for BIC Bands right now?

Thanks, SR :)

Hey! I work at Daily News Cafe! I was actually supposed to work that day but went home sick :( Would have been awesome to meet you! I’m currently 20 weeks preggo and trying to continue running but it’s hard when you feeling like you are going to pee your pants every step of the way! ;)
