I finished the Nike Womens Marathon about 4 minutes slower than I expected…
The hills definitely worked me over.
I’ll have a race recap up tomorrow, but until then, this valuable lesson:
When it’s raining, definitely wear white head-to-toe, definitely. It’s a do… especially clingy, see-through white.
BLOGGER BONAZA
Last night we had a little blogger dinner/meet up at Sauce on Belden Place, this cute little outdoor restaurant. A huge thanks to Maria who planned everything… especially picking a place close to my hotel. winning!
You’ve seen this picture and no, it’s not mine:
Jacqueline and her husband Mike – guys who support their women and their blogging ventures are total studs because let’s be honest, blogging (or bloggers) can be weird at times.
Another stud? Janae’s husband Billy. He’s a picture takin’ pro. Janae has schooled him well in the ways of the blogger. Also shown, the star of the show, Brooke and the party planning extraordinaire Maria.

POST-RACE GRUB
After battling the shuttle bus crowds back to my hotel (it took an hour and a half) I tried to make myself presentable in the quickest time possible because I WAS STARVING.
{Compression tights, Old Navy sweater and Old Navy t-shirt}
I went down to the hotel restaurant 750 to partake, I mean, decimate their Sunday brunch.
I was so hungry by 1pm that I was starting to get angry. seriously. I was that hungry. Luckily for everyone in the vicinity, the brunch was amazing: king crab, smoked salmon, sushi bar, prime rib, omelet station, etc. And bottomless bubbly, of course.
1st plate
Unpictured 2nd plate looked similar but with some different eggs and fish
Third plate – I could tell I was really dehydrated because all I wanted was salty food like the three plates of sushi, smoked salmon, etc. Dessert didn’t even sound appealing.
The hotel offers $10 off coupons to hotel guests which was a nice perk. I’d recommend this place… especially if you’re starving and ready to beat someone down.

I heard it was an amazing race! Congrats on the finish. You deserve all three plates and bubbly.
You’re still ridiculously amazing for all the marathons you do.
I actually thought of all you speedy ladies(creeped out yet??) as I had one awful/disappointing/painful half today.
Congrats on another one!
That post race meal sounds yummy. I would have preferred sushi over my leftover mongolian noodles.
So glad dinner worked out!!!! Very awesome
will try to make it tonight!
To meet you. Congrats on another marathon- hilarious about the white outfit
Dinner was awesome!!
It was a pleasure meeting you last night. It’s really cool to meet you after following your blog and being inspired by for years.
Great job today!
Wow, that course sounds rough.
At least you got 10 bucks off and you got to eat sushi post-race! I’m excited for the recap. Hope you have a great rest today!
They dropped the ball on the white outfits…someone should have thought about that!
I expect a full photobook of the white-outfit-rain-marathon.
PS I want that brunch ASAP.
That sushi looks SO good. We went out for sushi last night, but it wasn’t the best. Now I’m jealous of yours!
Those hills were tough! You still posted a great time!
That’s a tough course! Plus I am sure it was a little chilly? One thing I didn’t like about that was having to walk what seemed like forever to get to the buses, then it takes forever to get back to the hotels. Oh, and white in the rain? No bueno.
just wondering why you’ve started whiting out your bib numbers?
so i dont get murdered.
Congrats on finishing!! I’m still working up the courage to run a marathon period, let alone one with hills!! Great job!
I was so happy to see that you were running the same race as me (I know super creeper status … but you entertain and inspire me). I was able to PR 24min! Definitely not as fast as you but it was motivation. Congrats and good luck on your future races! =)
awesome PR, congrats!!
I’ve been known to get so hungry I’m angry, and we fondly call it ‘hangry’
yay!! That crab looks amazing!! Can’t wait to read all about the race!
Congrats on finishing another marathon! You amaze me.
But there was bubbly!
The Kidless Kronicles
Were you alone during brunch? Buffet after a long or hard runs are amazing!
yes, the women next to me ran the race so i talked to them for a bit. and stuffed my face.
So with you on supportive husbands – they are very much needed! I am so lucky even, that my husband was my model in my pics for my next blog about TRX training. What a stud!
um, that is the most gorgeous group of bloggers I have ever seen. Seriously. Running aside, I think you all could win a beauty pageant.
I recently made the same white outfit mistake. epic fail. But that brunch looks pretty sweet.
You did Chicago and then this marathon?? Your crazy girl! How do you not get injured. I was training for my first 1/2 and then i hurt my knee. now im in PT and can run a make of 6 minutes on the treadmill before im in whining like a baby. pretty depressing!
Mmmm nothing like sushi first thing in the morning!!
that looks amazing! I woudl have eaten like 1000 plates!

Congrats on finishing so well! I just finished my first half yesterday – is it normal for your legs and feet to kill for the rest of the day? What do you do for recovery? Thanks!
So impressive!!! Great job!! Two Questions:
1- Does it disappoint you not to have anyone there cheering for you? I always tell my husband not to come, but then am so bummed when he actually doesn’t!!
2- In your opinion, best running capris? I’m having the hardest time finding ones I like. Everyone says lululemon, but I dunno. I only want to pay that much if they’re reallyyyyy amazing. I think I recall you weren’t a huge fan. What do you like?
Thanks for keeping me inspired! I’m still trying to find the awesome Costco tanks here. Apparently, our Costco doesn’t carry them. No bueno.
I know…I keep hearing about these mythical Costco tanks, but have never seen them at a Canadian Costco (and I love that place, especially the one in Quebec that hands out free beer samples!)
email me: kristaroach@hotmail.com And, skinny runner – your marathon times and ripped legs blow me away. A total inspiration.
Lululemon has been around for so long up here that I don’t think we get too excited about it. The pants are definitely worth it because they last forever and the butt never gets saggy. Ive had some for five years that still look great. That said, there’s no ‘vanity sizing’, so you’ll usually have to go up a size. I’m a real life six, and most of my lulu’s are size 8 (jackets and baggie stuff size six still). I made the mistake last spring (beginning of mountain running season and was feeling chubby) of buying a pair of running capris (black with a little bit of purple trim) and a super cute, nice and long grey/black luon top – both in size 10. Each only worn once. Any takers? Not sure what to charge – that shit is pricey. But you might get some maple syrup or cookies in the package
Not hatin’ … just curious… why do pretty people always hang out with other pretty people? You all are soooo pretty!! I’ve never been out West. Are all the people out West just pretty and always out running?
its because i only hang out with pretty people. we all have to have our standards, right?
