Crappy Reader Race Pics

Amanda:

What am I doing with my hands and more importantly, why do I look like I’m taking a poop!

This was only my second half-marathon and I PR’ed by over 20 minutes….I hope my photo taking skills will improve, too!

It’s not really crappy but it’s a before and after shot of the Color Me Rad 5k in Albany, NY that my friends and I did in September. It was super fun and I would totally recommend their races to anyone.

It was pretty well organized and I think it’s a really good race for a first time runner, mainly because it’s fun and distracting with them throwing different colored corn starch at you and they don’t time the race, so no pressure.

Finish

I ran my first full marathon last month, and O BOY I have a wonderful CRAPPY race picture.  The marathon was an amazing experience, you truly learn how strong you are! I think I could give birth and it would be less pain than that last mile and finish line! I did qualify for Boston and registered, fingers crossed I get in! 3:30:43.

Laura and I

My friend and I at the finish line- she ran the last few miles with me and kept me motivated (she is practically holding me up here).

Fundraisers

Courtney:

I live in NYC and just got into half marathons last year at the Divas Half in Long Island. So I took the crazypants leap and decided to do four in 2012. Who knows how many in 2013…

I just signed up to run the Disney World Half Marathon with Team ASPCA in January and wonder if you could help promote my fundraising page. I love reading about little Marni because I have a little Seamie of my own, rescued from the ASPCA. While he tends to get jealous at how far your pup can regularly walk, he did compete in a 5 mile race at the NYC Triathlon and was pretty proud of that.

I’ve never done fund-racing before, but I’m very passionate about the welfare of animals in need. The ASPCA helps animals all over the country, not just in NYC and to raise a lot of money to make them proud I need all the help I can get! I thought a fellow runner and dog lover with a blog would be a great help.

Ashley:

Ashley and her Mama, Donna Schmidt

My beautiful Mama Donna suffered from a ruptured aneurysm on July 3rd 2012. She fought as hard as she could to stay with us, but we lost her on July 26th. My Mama brought light and love into the lives of everyone she met.  I miss her every second of every minute of every day.

I will do everything I can to fight this horrible disease, so that other families don’t have to suffer through the pain my family faces on a daily basis. I am running the Austin Half Marathon on February 17th to raise money for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.

My original fundraising goal was $3,000 dollars, but I met that in 3 days.  The outpouring of love and support for her and my family has been amazing. I am so grateful to everyone who has contributed, but I’m not stopping.

As far as I’m concerned, the sky is the limit – I’m going to make my Mama proud!

I cried the first time I read Ashley’s story.

I cried when I read Ashley’s story too! She got me when she said she misses her mom “every second of every minute of every day”. I can only imagine her pain.

Best wishes to all the girls and their upcoming races!
