The Fab 5

by SkinnyRunner on October 1, 2012

5 random things:

1. I WILL run at least 20 miles tomorrow, treadmill/outside, doesn’t matter.

This whole post is one big letter of accountability so I will be shamed into doing one last long run before the Chicago Marathon on Sunday.  So if I start writing a post tomorrow about some Pinterest-inspired recipe I made (I’m not even on Pinterest), please call me a lying loser and suckerpunch me in the face.

2. Tomorrow evening I’m going to Yogurtland with a bunch of bloggers.  If you’re local, you’re invited, whether you blog or not.  Or even if you’re not local.  HRG, you’re not busy tomorrow, are you?

3. A lot of blogs I read are not running blogs and one that I’ve been checking out lately is this one – how cute is she?!

ABOUTNEW

Yeah, I check out blogs based on cuteness. Player please, you know you do too.

4. Saddest story of the day that I read.  I want to become a vegetarian (for about 45 seconds) after reading that.

5. Happiest story of the day.  On a serious note, how do we teach our kids to not bully others just because they’re different?

Totally jealous of you running Chicago! You will do great. Bullying is a serious issue and honestly, I think it starts at home. Even in my son’s flag football league (which is Christian based), they are taught not to tease the other team or rub it in their face when they win or score a point. I know that’s not bullying, but it’s about having the right attitude.

Glad to hear you are feeling better! I am sure your rocking your 20 miles right about now while I am procrastinating on getting ready for work. Denial works well right?

Nice to put the open invite for the froyo I would love to come meet you girls and try to pretend I am cool but doubt I could make it with having to work til 5:30 and then have a meeting at church right after work. You can eat my serving for me – does that work?

And somehow I think HRG might just be running down the 5 right about now to meet you guys.

So many mistakenly believe that bullying is a rite of passage, and don’t understand the long-term implications it has on both the victim(s) and the bully. I work in mental health, and we are taking a more universal “preventative” approach in hopes that it will make a bigger impact.

P.S. OMG. I am sick to my stomach after reading the hog story.

The spaghetti-French bread made me laugh aloud in the dentist chair (my phobia). Thanks for this little moment of awesome awkwardness. :)
