WORKOUT -
Ran on hotel TM -
12.0 miles/1:31
1.0 incline or so it said
Last night around 10:30 after hitting Riverside traffic (why?! why so late? where are you all going?!) we arrived at the Hyatt Indian Wells in Palm Springs.
I was being a super co-pilot and snoring open-mouth style for the last half of the trip so the man was excited to see a real bed and the possibility of ear plugs.
The resort grounds are massive – 7 pools, tennis courts, golf course, kids camp, spa, etc and the hotel rooms are also big, if not a little dated. But that’s ok because so am I.
We hit the party scene hard.
No, no, we didn’t. We hit the bed hard and fell asleep in seconds. King size beds are where its at and we need to upgrade our twin bunk beds immediately.
This morning the husband left at 6:15 to go golfing so I got ready to go to the gym. Ever since my sports bra fitting at RRS, I’ve been loving Moving Comfort’s sports bras and wanting to buy a few more, but they can get pricey so I’ve been searching for steals and deals.
Enter Sierra Trading Post: they have sales on a lot of the styles but not in every size or color. I ended up buying 3 sports bras on sale and using the code ALFALL2 for 20% off, and they just arrived yesterday.
This morning I tried out the Charity, a style I had never tried before, but it did its’ job. no complaints from the peanut gallery over here.
After gearing up I headed out with a treasure map to find the gym.
It was nice enough this morning that I could have run outside, but I love trying out new hotel gyms… especially when they’re really nice and completely empty.
Chilled towels for those of us with delicate skin who just can’t handle the mediocrity of a room temperature one.
I got on a treadmill and went to town watching Fox news. I ran 12 miles in 1:31 and it almost felt too easy Like I don’t know if I can trust that lying treadmill. Anyone else ever feel this way?
I think the speed was accurate, but the 1% incline (I always set the TM to 1% to offset the easy factor – no wind resistance, moving belt, etc) felt like 0%. Oh well, I probably won’t spontaneously combust over it.
Now I’m doing a little blogging on the lanai and then going to hit the pool before my man gets back this afternoon.

Right now, whatever is on sale at Target. But am hitting a RRS Girls Night Out soon and may do the fitting. Plus I need to find new shoes.
Enjoy your day!
The Kidless Kronicles
Last weekend I ran 12 outside (haven’t run that far in a while) and it was super duper easy and I felt great after… I was definitely lied to by my little GPS! For sports bras, I usually just go with the good ‘ole champion from target!
We have a house out in PS and my favorite place is Armandos. Sooo good! It’s on El Paseo. Here’s the Yelp link. http://www.yelp.com/biz/armandos-dakota-bar-and-grill-palm-desert
I love Moving Comfort bras, too!
Lucky ducks you. Enjoy! and tell Moving Comfort they owe you. YOu make those bras look damn fine.
but they are pretty comfy. I agree.
You are so darn speedy!! How do you run that fast on the treadmill for 12 miles? I love Moving Comfort bras. Do they make the longer tank top running bras? I wear that style most often. Enjoy your beautiful resort.
Moving Comforts where its at!
I just checked out the Sierra Trading Post link you posted and am I the only one just a little bit freaked out that they had to include “(for women)” after each bra description?!
Did marni get to come along? Love moving comfort!!
no, she stayed at home with our neighbor. she did get to go camping in carlsbad with us though
Moving comfort Juno!!!!
Favorite sports bra: Shock Absorber Run Sports Bra (pricey but worth it IMO)
Yummy restaurant in Palm Springs: Native Foods Cafe (also located here in Orange County)
I just discovered the Vixen from MC and I love it. Definitely using that code if they have any at Sierra. Thanks!
I’ve actually been on the lookout for a really good sports bra, since I hate the ones I have. The lululemon one’s always stretch out around the rib cage area, and its driving my nutty.
I check out sales at Sierra Trading Post all the time. Sometimes you can get really good deals on running shoes. I bought Saucony Kinvaras for $41 and Karhu Fast Fulcrum’s for $39 before. STP generally has a % off coupon code or free shipping as well.
I have been running in plain old cotton bras by Fruit of the Loom, but I’m distressed to see that they are discontinuing the 32″ size. I tried the 34″ and it didn’t fit right. Too bad, because I loved the fit, the modest cut (for those 100+ F summer days!), and the 3 for $10 price point!
For cycling (super low impact) I got Barely There soft padded convertible bras from Kohl’s. With our tight jerseys this year, padding was essential. It turns out I actually like them, but they don’t suit for running. For running (not a big girl) I wear mostly Champion (but I’m not a fan of Target’s because they don’t feel supportive enough–Kohl’s again. For gym workouts (the majority of what I do) I wear the Champion or Old Navy’s bras. Half of my bras get worn inside out because I hate the seams. So much for buying ones with cute designs!
We’re year-round La Quinta residents….If you like Sushi/Japanese, Okura is your place. It’s just down the street from you, east on 111 at Washington, the northwest corner. Just before that is the Cliffhouse, which is also nice, lovely view, good general menu.

I like the RRS sports bras. They are not too pricey and do a great job contains my big boobs. There is a great BBQ place in The River, I think it might be called Babe’s? It’s in Rancho Mirage. Have fun!!
I actually really like the Target Champion sports bras … the ones with the thin, racerback straps. I actually need to go get a new one, because one of mine got ruined in the washing machine. That’s what I get for trying to be clean.
MC for sports bras-simply the best. Check out the lounge at your hotel tonight, was there in May and the band was amazing. Plus the people watching is incredible.
Totally in love with Moving Comfort Fiona. Lots of support for ladies that are, a-hem, top heavy. Forgot about Sierra Trading post, love that place! Enjoy Palm Springs, looks like a beautiful place to spend the weekend!
Love SR and love RER….however, wondering what is up with the Nicole Ritchie add that keeps popping up at the bottom of the blogs, making the blog jump a bit. My eyes are going batty….
As for sports bras, I’ve really enjoyed my cheapy Danskin I bought recently. Perfect fit. Wondering if runs would feel more amazing if I got a nicer one?
its from our ad company, RER and i have the same one. sorry about that! we have zero control over the specific ads themselves.
Thanks for the reply! I know you don’t have any control:(. Maybe it’s just on my iPad, I don’t know. But it’s difficult to read when the ad jiggles the entire blog. (your blog still rocks, however. I just may need to take a Dramamine or something before reading:)
I’m in la Quinta right now and I’m dying in this heat. How is Jaymo standing it for golf?! I love Arnold Palmers in la Quinta or Castelli’s in Palm Desert. Armando’s is ok but kind overrated IMO.
Holy crap! You have great abs! And I didn’t even know chilled towels were a thing.
That gym entrance with the towels etc looks so much like the Marriott I stayed in Miri a few years back.
Sports bra – I’ve been wanting to try out MC but we only have 1 distributor here so the choices and colours are a bit limiting. Currently I’m using the big names: Nike, Adidas, Saucony, New Balance
I was travelling through Guilin, China & used the treadmills at the hotel gym. In the US, my normal pace was 5 miles in just under an hour. At the hotel gym, I hit 8 miles in an hour. A couple of treadmills showed me the same time/distance, but I am convinced that it is wrong. I have never been a very fast runner. But I did feel pretty good despite the fact
I’m in England and all of our treadmills are in km, not miles so maybe that explains the 5mile/8difference?
I am in awe of anyone who can run more than 5 miles on a treadmill!
Are you a tennis player? Because I checked out the link to where you guys are staying and those tennis courts….sigh. I would be there non-stop!!
Hope you guys have a nice getaway!!
well, im more like a run-around-the-court-chasing-balls rather than an actual player, but i do think tennis is fun and a good workout!
Enjoy your fun getaway! Great new photos in your header!
you killed your TM run!! great job chica!
have a wonderful time w/your hubby this weekend! stay cool!! really, really looking forward to cooler temps!! luv ya
Spencer’s and Copley’s are both great for dinner (and Cheeky’s is great for brunch!). Last year for my then boyfriend’s birthday we had dinner reservations at Spencer’s and ended up getting engaged that day. The restaurant was amazing and perfect and beautiful and was ideal for that double special occasion celebration. Have fun!
congratulations! (well, a year ago)
Cheeky’s is AWESOME!!! They have the most amazing food, definitely worth the wait. If you’re craving Mexican, Las Casuelas Original is good, better than Las Casuelas Terraza, which is overrated in my opinion.
Don Diego’s is my FAVORITE! They have amazing margaritas and really good food. Try the green corn tamales
Yum.
I love moving comfort sports bras. I got two Fiona bras on Amazon on the cheap a few weeks ago. They are glorious.
Hope you’re having a fun trip!
You watch Fox news? Please tell me it’s a joke, that channel is so full of propaganda.
did that sound like a funny joke? my about me page says it – im as conservative republican as they come.
