WORKOUT -
Ran outside -
10.25 miles/1:23
some rolling hills
Cardio & Core class -
50 mins
Walked the dog -
3.5 miles
I got up this morning at the unhealthy hour of 5:25am so I could be running by 6am. I wanted to run before the 8am class because I learned after last time that running post-class is masochistic and evil.
Outfit #1 for the run – I’m so awesome at matching. Wore my ProCompression sleeves to look hardcore and polka dots to look unhardcore.
After the run I quick changed into dry clothes, grabbed a protein drink (drank my last one of these) and headed to the gym to meet Sheila.
Outfit #2 for the class – still not matching but rocking some headgear hard. What’s up with this dumb pose, by the way?!
I love the Core, Cardio & More class at 24Hour Fitness because it’s an interval class with strength training moves and cardio spurts thrown in. If you’re just dying to know the official description of the class, you can read it here.
Sheila, she’s a really good parent…
When I got home we decided to take Marni on a walk before it got too hot so we trugged the 3.5 miles roundtrip to Starbucks, and I became that person who brings their own food with them: I carried my own iced coffee from home on the walk. What, I just like my creamer better.
Marmar was pretty played out by the time we got home.
But I wasn’t because I had a fun box waiting for me: remember this summer when I made my own NIKE Lunarglide + ID shoes? I just received them in the mail and think they look pretty sillysweet:
I’m digging the color fade on them. You can make your own on Nike’ site.

I use to bring my own salad dressing when we went out to eat but not anymore! I always make sure I have a stash of some sort of food/bars with me wherever I go. I do not take offense to people bringing their own goods with them. Love your Nike sneaks!!
I have Type 1 diabetes so I always have some sort of snack/juice in my purse at all times. However, I don’t have a special diet, so I don’t bring anything with me when going to a restaurant or a friend’s house. I think the onus is on the host to ask his/her guest if they have any preferences or dietary restrictions.
Oh, I always have Splenda packets in my purse. A lot of restaurants don’t carry that, and that’s the sweetener of choice for me
I am sometimes pretty bad about bringing my own food. I bring food to meetings at work because they always have bagels/donuts for breakfast or pizza for lunch. Nothing healthy.
I also have been known to bring a big salad to dinner at my MIL’s in case she makes something too heavy or unhealthy. I pretend it is my donation to dinner. (Boy, I hope she doesn’t see this.)
And last, I usually bring a healthy dip or cocktail shrimp to a party…same reason as above.
My own food to movies? ALL.THE.TIME!
My own food to restaurants? often some sort off fruit for my kids if I know they’ll only have french fries as a vegetable!
My own drinks to restaurants? often!! I try to stay away from soda so sometimes I’ll bring bubble water (from TJ’s) and ask for ice. Rude? Maybe. Do I care? Nah….
Yep! I have food allergies, so I either have to bring my own or be *that* super picky, annoying person when ordering
Your shoes look gorgeous!
We bring our own food for my husband (he’s vegan). We always tell the person we’re bringing our own, with enough for everyone to try! Most of the time, people are shocked with how good it is!
I often take my own food to other people’s homes who are doing bbq’s or whatever. They don’t get offended because they all know I’m not down with meat. I usually bring a big salad or Boca Burger. I have a shih-tzu puppy and would love to take him on longer walks but I feel bad that it’ll be too far or he’ll get thirsty. I’m shocked Marni can go so far. Do you bring water? I guess I shouldn’t worry so much.
we definitely bring water for her, yes. and then i dump a bunch on her which she hates. we also walk in the shaded part of the road whenever we can which means crossing the street like 14 times.
To the movies – Always!! To restaurants – only for my 2 boys cause my oldest is so picky and my baby eats baby food
Question for you-
How do you always get such awesome people to contact you to try a product and/or make something? #jealous
i sell my soul to them.
actually a lot of stuff comes from my ad company and i also receive a lot of emails/proposals/etc. believe it or not, i turn down about 80-90% of all offers.
I always bring my own food to the movies…why pay $8 for a box of candy that you can get for $1 at Walmart!? I also like to bring some adult beverages into the theater as well!
We have totally brought other food to other restjarants. Hard not to with kids! Lol
Dude- take the kicks out of the box so we can get a better view of the shoes.
i know, blogging fail on my part.
We sneak snacks into the movies.
I understand certain dietary restrictions and children at restaurants re: food but when it is a legit restaurant (not a school or hospital or workplace cafeteria environment) it really burns me up when I see a large group of people taking up a table at a peak time and eating from their lunchboxes.
For example…I work in healthcare and there is a really popular lunch spot/cafe near the hospital that is always SLAMMED with customers. Sometimes it’s like “fight to the death to get a table” type chaos (it’s order at the counter, someone brings you your food). Without fail there is always a group of medical residents or med students or nursing students that will pull a bunch of tables together and camp out with their lunchboxes/lunch spreads. Sometimes one of them might order a drink but usually no one orders anything! So annoying!!! Mostly b/c it’s a super crowded restaurant and they are taking away seats from paying customers but also b/c I know there are a million places in our medical complex to eat…multiple cafeterias, break rooms, open atriums, outdoor seating, etc.
OK I feel better now!
Haha whoops… I am totally the person in the hospital cafeteria everyday who brings their own lunch and takes paying customers seats….
In my defense though, a lot of the people around me actually bought food and I like to be social. Plus, the food there is actually really good and absolutely terrible for me and I don’t trust myself to just stick to the salad bar if I don’t bring my own stuff
Love the head gear.
I like BYOB does that count? Otherwise I’m a huge fan of free food, so if its there I don’t mind taking
I do sometimes take candy and fun things to movies because I’m cheap.
I ALWAYS bring my own snacks and water to the movies. First of all, it’s waaaaaay cheaper, and secondly, I always pack healthy stuff (grapes, cut up veggies, trail mix, protein bar, etc.). Ya know, the stuff you would never find in a theater. And I NEVER leave home without my big ol’ bottle of water. I take it everywhere- work, shopping, the library, the gas station, other people’s houses. My husband makes fun of me. One time we were going out to dinner, and I ran back into the house to get my beloved pink Nalgene bottle, and he said to me, “ya know, they will have water at the restaurant”. Yes, but we live in LA, and of course we got stuck in traffic….guess who was asking to sip my water?!
Love the new kicks BTW!!
Lol I work at Starbucks and take my own drinks to work all the time! And my own food! I just like my drinks better:)
I am totally that person that brings my own food. To work all the time because we have catered lunches all the time and its rarely healthy, and i always have food/snacks in my purse for any type of trip. I used to bring my own salad dressing to restaurants but it was during my extreme restricting with food- now i just order what i love and not use the whole container of dressing!
Those of us with food allergies bring our own food All.The.Time. It’s much easier to make sure I have at least a snack than to try to tell a friend, “Oh, can you avoid xanthan gum, guar gum, gum acacia, locust bean gum, any other gum I missed, glister ester of rosin, carrageenan, coconut, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, basically all nuts, and chicory root?” Yeah. I’m that @$$ at a restaurant who has to speak to a manager before I even have water on the table to find out what I can and can’t eat. Which is why I cook from scratch more than my own mother, who was a Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year when she was 17.
HA! That picture of Sheila and her kid nearly made me pee myself at work just now. Good stuff.
In college we would always sneak a flask into movies to add to our cokes. Now the most exciting things I sneak in are Sour Patch Extremes or some Chewy Sprees.
I try to always carry food in my purse. I’ve trained my body to eat every 3 hours or so, and I’m not pleasant to be around if I’m hungry. I keep extra food at work for the same reason.
Awesome shoes!
We have snuck burritos and beer into the movies!
I take my own water wherever I go. I drink a lot and I like my water and my ice cubes (which is weird but ture).
If I’m going to do candy at the movies, I go big, so I am definitely that person with the big handbag filled with cheap candy from Walgreens. No shame.
I bring stevia in my purse sometimes and I have been known to bring my own packets of oatmeal for breakfast when I travel.
I am vegetarian and there is not always an option for me so many know I’m bringing my own food…also, my 2 yr old has severe multiple food allergies and I have no choice but to bring safe food for her. No one is ever offended!
I love those sneakers!!! If only I had more room in my closet….
I always bring some of my own food/snacks in tupperware containers when I visit my boyfriend or my boyfriend’s family (we’re temporarily doing long-distance so when we visit each other its usually for a couple days). They eat a lot of white carbs and red meat and eating like that for more than a day usually makes me feel gross & sick so I pack little meals like couscous with chicken or yogurt with granola. I felt rude at first but now I realize if I’m going to be there for several days I don’t want to spend it feeling like crap.
I always bring my own condiments (mainly hot sauce) with me to restaurants and other people’s houses. I’m sure it’s rude, but I still do it. Oops. I’m about to put on my ProCompresson sleeves for date night. Ha ha. maybe I need a Bic Band too. Have a great night!
I usually have some sort of snack with me, especially if I’m going away for the weekend! I figure, when I’m out of town I’m eating out, for the most part, so I’d at least like to have something healthy available when I want to snack!
My purse is the size of carry on luggage so of course I bring my own food/snacks with me. You never know when you or someone else might need something. Plus, I’ve got 2 toddlers and they always want a snack so I’ve learned to be prepared!
I carry water with me everywhere I go (including movies) and often bring my own snacks. I don’t think I’d be offended if someone brought their own food to my house – I’m a horrible cook and most things are an experiment.
I love your shoes! I always have food with me. No allergies, but I do loved to eat
Also, I like to spend only the money I need to, and since I’ve already bought that food I’d rather eat it than spend more on other food.
Movies – yes; rest – not really although I do inform the host of dinner parties beforehand that I’m vegan and if there’s no vegan option, I’ll offer to bring something/potluck style for the dinner. And I always have something in my bag eg bars, biscuits for “just in case” moments.
marmar! That’s my nickname! And I was called “Marnie” when I was little!
I am never offended when people bring their own food. So many of my friends have food allergies(dairy, nuts, gluten) I would go broke cooking for all of them!!!
I was just wondering how I was going to waddle my way through five miles at my running group today after 20 yesterday and this post reminded me of my pro compression socks. Genius. Clearly, it’s way to early for real thinking.
I bring my own junk food when I go see a movie.
I also bring lunch to university whenever my break isn’t long enough to come home to eat.
And I bring my own food on the plane/train.
I do it cause I’m cheap, not because I follow a strict diet.
I never bring my own stuff if I’m invited somewhere (I do bring wine for the host), and I would be offended if someone brought food to my place (unless they have allergies or medical issues). but I’d rather modify my recipe to accomodate them so that everyone eats the same thing and no one feels excluded <— awesome hosting right there, woot!
Nope, I pretty much eat whatever people give me. HAH. But I usually always switch around stuff that comes in meals –like hold this, but add that. I am the annoying one asking tons of questions. I am a semi picky eater, and I don’t want no mushrooms or guac or PB in my food!
I am one of those people who has a legitimately strict diet for a rare metabolic disorder so I bring my own food a lot and have no other choice. People often think I’m a crazy picky vegan or something but it’s a long explanation and I usually don’t bother. It upsets me a bit because I am not doing this for kicks, it’s for real.
I never buy food at the movies, I always bring it
My bag is always 74 pounds heavier when we trek into the theater – nuts, jerky, you name it. But no matter what I have in my bag of tricks, that terribly delicious aroma of movie theater popcorn always gets me.
Someday, I think I’ll try to have more willpower. Until then, om nom nom on that yummy goodness. I do, however, always promise myself that I’ll run off that bajillion calories I always inhale.
I often feel guilty about bringing my own food or drink when I go somewhere but I like to have a back up just in case there is something that I don’t eat. I tend to be a boring eater and not too daring. I live in Plant City, Florida and everyone tends to drink sweet tea here. I just bring a bottle of water in my purse just in case there isn’t any bottled water. Our tap water is terrible here and I won’t drink it. That is why people sugar coat the water with tea.
