We’re on a mission to help women find joy in fitness and active living by organizing social fitness events (while providing women the tools to organize on their own). We do this not to make money, but because we enjoy seeing women finally have fun with fitness.

“From the Ben Moore Memorial Half Marathon in Annapolis, MD recently. Got plenty of laughs from volunteers, spectators, and runners… but I PR’d, so maybe my awkward number was good luck!”

Check out the Arizona IMS marathon on Facebook. They’ve been giving out free entries and other stuff.
FUNDRAISING
My husband Erik and I are training for the Nike Marathon in San Francisco in October, with Team In Training. We are currently fundraising to fight cancer and are committed to raising $3,500 to find a cure. We have an Uncle who has cancer and we are running for him. Together, we can find a cure.
You can help fight cancer by donating here.

I teach special needs students in Florida and this past June, I received the news that one of my previous students was diagnosed with Leukemia. He is a young boy (just 7 years old) and continues to fight for his life daily!
After learning about team in training and all they do for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I knew this was the way I wanted to tackle my first marathon! So, in a little over 5 months I will be running 26.2 miles in the Disney Marathon!
Right now the fundraising is seeing like a very daunting task.
You can donate at her fundraising page.

My mom passed away suddenly 4 1/2 years ago of a brain aneurysm. Since then my family has helped get September nationally recognized as Brain Aneurysm Awareness month through Congress, has worked closely with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation and participates and sponsors the Freddie Harris Memorial 2K Walk/5K Road Race on Saturday, September 15th in Belleville, Michigan.
There are almost 500,000 deaths worldwide each year caused by brain aneurysms and half the victims are younger than 50. My mom was only 52 when she passed away and my family is trying to do everything we can to help raise awareness so that other families don’t have to experience a loss like ours.
Check out the event information and you can also sign a petition to Congress to help raise awareness.
CAT LADY BLOGS
Sarah from All I Can Be Is Me.
{The hubs and me tailgating for our favorite team the Arkansas Razorbacks. We’re those weird SEC fanatics everyone talks about.}
Hey ya’ll! I’m Sarah from All I Can Be Is Me. I started my humble blog a couple of years ago to keep track of my do-it-yourself projects, baking escapades, and all of the crazy stuff that happens in daily life.
{Finishing my first half-marathon, with my sister, Meghan, who is my bff.}
My blog covers just about everything- one day you might read my latest running fiasco or stumble upon a fab recipe. I try to mix it up to keep it interesting, all written with a good mix of humor and self-deprecation because who really wants to read all about me anyways?

{At our wedding. We like good music and like to dance… This might or might not have been a Bon Jovi song.}
Blogging keeps me honest and grounded, because if your Mom reads it (which mine does) she will totally call you out on the absurd stories you are telling the internet. Not that I do that or anything.. Please hop on over and say, Hey!
{My best friends from college. We live all across the country but I wouldn’t trade them for the world.}
That’s funny that Sarah mentions the “Mom monitoring” since she emailed me months ago to be on CLB and she was next on the list and I randomly talked about it today too. Oh, the coincidences. just too much to handle.
Go check out Sarah’s blog and say hi; thanks for the email!

Thank you so much for the CLB feature!!
I feel so special that my traffic has increased by 5000% jk…. But seriously- your blog is awesome and such an inspiration so it really is exciting! Hope ya’ll had fun painting; we’ve been doing that for weeks with our new home which shows just how inefficient we are at home improvements.
Thank you so much for your post from Jackie. My father died suddenly last year of a brain aneurysm, he was only 64! As I deal with his loss I have always wondered if there was any type of run for brain aneurysm awareness. I would love if you could pass my email on to her so I could see if there is anything I could help with from here in Colorado. I love running and frequently find my runs as a time to process my fathers death and how much I miss him…more times than not I find myself sobbing during the run. It is a good release and I always appreciate others who have gone through the same type of traumatic loss.
Thanks SR! I really enjoy the serious and not so serious on your blog!
Hi Kelly,
I’m so sorry for your loss, hopefully you find comfort knowing you aren’t the only one! Feel free to reach out to me.
There are all sorts of events put on in different states for awareness. I’m not familiar with events in CO in particular. You can check out the Brain Aneurysm Foundation website (www.bafound.org) to search for one. You could even start one on your own in honor of your Dad.
Jackie
How cute she is! I’ll definitely be checking her blog out! It also helps that her name is Sarah and she spells it with an “h.” Rock on sista!
It is really great of you to post up all of these fundraising and awareness blocks. September is actually, among other things, World Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness Month, National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and Healthy Aging Month. Thanks for doing this!!
I wish I could get my mom to read my blog. LOL. Great causes and I love the Cat Lady Blogger…could she have a hotter group of friends? I prefer ugly friends so I look better.
Jessica
FUN! My mom def does not read my blog….she has issues with the ‘internet’
