I can’t do too tight

by SkinnyRunner on August 8, 2012

WORKOUT -

Ran outside

10.0 miles/1:25

1 mile walk/20 mins

Hot out, slower recovery miles

I usually finish my run right at my car or house, but this morning I veered away from my car to a shaded park so when I finished the 10 miles, I had a mile long cooldown walk… which was pretty nice actually.

Walking is what all the cool people are doing.  or so they tell me.

NEW GEAR

26.2 Apparel is a pretty small, new to the game running apparel company, and what I like about their second line of clothes is all the runner-friendly details that have been added: more zip pockets in well-placed spots (not on hips), flatter seams, mesh panels for ventilation, reflective logos for better visibility, etc.

I told you about the 26.2 Apparel capri pants the other day and here are a couple shirts that I received because going topless never really works out well.  Unless you’re Jenny McCarthy and make a career out of it.

First is the 26.2 short sleeve tee made with So-Dri moisture wicking fabric that I wore yesterday while running with Pam.

I like the scoop neck which I think is universally flattering, and I dig that it’s not too short or tight.  If you don’t like tight tops, this is your jam.

And the zip front tank with built in bra:

{Not me or my man}

It has a zip pocket in the back and little pleats that are a cute detail.  I wasn’t sure if I’d like this tank or not but I wore it this morning while running and actually like the look of it in the pictures.

It’s fitted but not supertight.  I can wear spray-on skinny jeans for life but a too tight top?  kill me first.

Last is the 1/4 zip front pullover which I love and might be my favorite (besides these tie-dye capris) even though it’s 47000 degrees right now in Southern California.

A couple years ago I bought a similar style pullover from Costco and I really like running in a pullover in colder, wetter weather.

It has thumb holes, a side zip pocket and is made from the So-Dri technical moisture wicking fabric.

It’s also sorta nice for fashion dysfuncts like me that all the 26.2 pieces go together, whether it’s the tie dye or the black/fuchsia pieces.

Shipping is free and when you order, you receive a 26.2 tote bag.

A deep thought for the day….

Today, be grateful.  You are blessed, you’re unique, you’re loved and you’re not Randy Travis… which is something to be grateful for today.

nude!  geez.

I saw a race walker yesterday while I was running. First thought – she was only 20 or so. I thought they had to all be 50 or something. Second thought – DOESN’T THAT HURT? They hyperextend their knees every step and it just looks painful.

Tight pants, loose shirt for the win!

Also, WTF Randy Travis? :)

Why race walk? (asking because I really am curious)

If you want to walk, why not walk, and if you want to run, why not run? It is such an awkward-looking movement, and like someone said about the hyperextending, probably not so good for you!

i have no clue because when youre going so fast walking, its easier to run. i dont get it but cheers to those hip swivelers.

Love the 26.2 stuff, going to order one of their classic 26.2 shirts to wear for my Portland Marathon training and maybe a pair of their Capris….love that they have good pockets. Thanks for the information on them, it helps to have a solid opinion from someone when ordering something online, you know?

I have only done 2 half marathons but during my second one a gentlemen was race walking….he may have been about 60 years young, he looked very fit, his walk looked very natural w/ a bit of a swing in the hips and he easily finished with maybe a 9:40/mile race how do I know??? B/c I came in a bit AFTER him…;-(

I am impressed…and I hear super easy on the joints.

Hey SR! Quick question..do you ever throw your running shoes in the wash? I got dirt all over my relatively new sneakers this wknd and I’d like to wash them but not sure if throwing them in the washing machine is a good idea. Thanks!

NOOOOO! dont put them in the washer. it breaks down the integrity of them and the cushioning, support, etc. rinse them off or hand wash them and let them air dry.

I don’t know what shocked me more. That Randy Travis was naked or that he drives a 1998 Trans Am…

I like the jacket thing! Thinking of getting it – one question – do the sizes seem to run normal? Does it cover your butt?

Race walking scares me. Seriously, look at the angle of their hips!

26.2 has great stuff! Looks like I need to go shopping.

Oh man, I love that 26.2 shirt! I have a hard time embracing the racewalking, even though I know it’s got to be hard as heck to do. It’s just kinda weird :-p

They have super cute stuff! I guess I will have to work my way to a marathon one day so I can buy a top that says 26.2!

I like that tank and I too won’t wear anything tight on top, no matter how good I might think I look. Exercising in fitted tanks doens’t work for me!!

I found that scoop necks look not so flattering on women with big breasts. Like me. But I love the capris.

I prefer fitted tops and tanks with in built sports bra are my favs (what can I say…I’m flat chested!).

Love the clothes. I would love to try the capris. On a different note, you are an animal! Do you ever run less than 10 miles! My daily run is 7 or 8 and a longer one on the weekends and everyone tells me I am crazy. I think not :-)

Ooh, love that pull over top! I have several fleece ones for Minnesota winter running, but something for the in-between spring and fall would be great.

Just ordered my capris! Can’t wait! Nice score on the tote bag, too! ;-)
