It’s the last day and then it’s over

by SkinnyRunner on July 26, 2012

While we were running out to the fishing grounds, I didn’t have much to do besides check out all our peanut butter.

I mean, I’m sure there was stuff I was suppose to be doing but I sure wasn’t doing it.

I eat a lot of peanut butter on the boat mostly because it’s easy, fast and just sounds good.  I’ll either eat peanut butter and jelly toast or microwave a sweet potato and put pb on top.

004 (800x487)

I usually buy natural peanut butter at home because it doesn’t have any hydrogenated oils in it.

My mom bought the Jif Omega-3 stuff the other day; it might be a new product?  Or maybe I’m just not hip to the peanut butter world.

006 (800x446)

The Omega-3 fatty acids come from sardine oil, anchovy oil and “tilapia gelatin”.  Sounds disgusting, but Omega-3s are good for you (benefits and info here) and you can’t taste them in this pb.

007 (800x448)

We just bought the natural Jif a day ago from Walmart because you can never have too much peanut butter on a boat and heaven forbid something happens to us where we get shipwrecked and I don’t have access to some healthy fats.  Someone would die if that happened.  and it wouldn’t be me.

It has molasses in it and it was another kind that I hadn’t tried before so I opened it up and gave it a whirl.  I couldn’t taste the molasses, but I thought it tasted a little different.

008 (433x800)

This stuff is from Costco and has only peanuts and sea salt in it, but it separates a little and let’s be honest: Jif tastes good.  There’s a reason why they put sugar in peanut butter… because it tastes good.

And that’s all my peanut butter tales.

Did you like my compression post yesterday?  Did you believe that I wear compression socks all the time?  No?  Well, check out yesterday’s (ok I admit, also todays) outfit:

Gelatin in general grosses me out, but qualifying it was a specific animal is even…ickier.

I also stick to the natual, non-hydrogenated stuff. mhm!

So I tried the code for the shorts & it takes $15 off per pair, but I don’t see how to get them both for $45…what could I be doing wrong (many things I know..)? Or did I mis-understand?

If you use the code, the black shorts won’t show up in your cart but will automatically be added to your shipment!

Same here; I just emailed them a screen shot of my check out screen; I was only getting 25% off of each pair with a total due of $90.

Hey SR, for the Aspaeris code to work properly, do you put just a red pair in your cart and then they automatically send you a black pair as well? When I had both in my cart, it discounted only one pair. When I had only the red in my cart, it didn’t notify me that I might also get a free pair.

I really hope it works because all this talk about compression has me wanting some shorts!

I love the compression socks with the boots! That’s fantastic. I’ve never heard of peanut butter with Omega-3s but it sounds really interesting. It seems like food manufacturers are putting Omega-3s in everything these days.

What made you decide to do a shortened fishing trip this summer? I know usually you’re out there a lot longer.
Can you send some salmon to TX?

the short answer is that ive been wanting to “retire” from fishing for a few years. it was never my goal to be a commercial fisherman for life so i (really, my husband and i) decided that this would be my first year of not halibuting, but salmon fishing is a good, short job for now that helps supplement our income so i dont have to rob as many banks.

I usually buy the store brand natural peanut butter, but my SIL and BIL bought us a pb and jelly of the month subscription, so we’ve been getting some weird varieties to try lately.

Peanut butter is my go-to-snack and condiment of choice. Have you ever tried Peanut Butter and Co. flavors? They have two that are amazing (and, I guess, not all-natural): White Chocolate Wonderful and Dark Chocolate Dreams. Spread on toast, eat on pears or apples or celery, eat out of the jar, basically fantastic.

Some stores around here carry them (Walmart and Kroger), but they are also online. It might be worth checking out, or maybe not, since you might not want to go back to regular peanut butter and the jars are kind of costly comparatively.

ive never tried the peanut butter and co flavors, but have heard about them. i cant spend more than $4 on a jar though… but i can spend a billion on new shoes. go figure.

Shoes last a lot longer, I understand. And don’t go to my belly, since any of those flavored PBs are eating within 2 days in my house.

I love their peanut butter! It is like a dessert with protein! I tell everyone I run because I like to eat peanut butter (most weeks, it’s a jar a week)!
You really should try it; it is worth the $4 price!

I was just ingredient comparing PB and nut butters today too–I’m not in love with Almond butter, but found a new (more expensive of course) fav in SunFlower Seed butter at TJ’s. Amazing!

I love the Costco PB! It might separate on you if you aren’t refrigerating like the jar says :) It is a bit of a pain since takes up so much fridge space. Thanks for the BIC Bands code, excited to find something to really hold my hair!
