My Nike Bespoke shoes

by SkinnyRunner on July 22, 2012

GLAM Media and Nike recently asked me to design a pair of the new Nike LUNARGLIDE shoes with their online customization program.

The new NIKE LUNARGLIDE + iD offers the ultimate in lightweight responsive cushioning, a flywire lacing system for an adaptive fit and dynamic support for just the stability you need.

My brother wzx super impressed and thought I must be a really important blogger so I had to say yes just to keep up appearances and make them think I’m cool in the blog world.

There’s a lot of different colors to choose and I planned on doing the SR colors: black, grey and hot pink, but as I was doing a little previous online shopping, I decided to use the two things in my cart as design inspiration.

Someone call Fashion Star, I just used the words “design inspiration” and I wasn’t even joking.

Onto the customization:

You can choose a solid shoe color or do the color fade like I did.  Looks kinda sweet, no?

The hardest part was deciding on the overall shoe color.  I almost went with a different combo but kept going back to this Summit White/Seashell Blue color.

I thought about doing the entire shoe really light and white but then liked the Light Wild Mango with the blue.

You choose colors for everything from the Nike Swoosh to the laces.

The last step is to add an ID on the shoe tongue.  There’s space for 4 characters on each shoe; I chose purple for a splash of color but had a hard time deciding what to write.

I thought about SR RUNS, GO LONG, or RUN HARD but settled on 1 Tim 4:8 which is kinda like my marathon verse and a good reminder to myself about what’s really important (and to stop acting like a doofus).

The finished product, I’m stoked on how it turned out:

If I can make a shoe look sort of normal and rad, anyone can.

Sweet shoes. I got a free pa the Lunarglide 4s for going to a SoCal Nike University w/my running store. They’re white with lime green soles and look pretty cool but I know they won’t stay clean for long! Comfy shoes though.

Nike Lunarglide’s are my favorite! I just ordered another pair and was too cheap to customize them, but I love what you ID’ed yours as :)

I love that you put a quote from the Bible -we so often forget (or at least me!) that everything we do should be in His glory. Hope Alaska is treating you well in the meantime.

The shoe looks great & I really like the mellow overtone paired with shocking pops of color. I would have gone with a bible verse myself :)

Love the shoes – your design is amazing and simple. I am a happy nike lunar glide runner myself (got mine last year in the smallest male version for sale ;) ) and now my fingers are itchy to design some for myself…

Love the shoes! Because of your blog I am starting to run! Yay! Signed up for my first 5K in Oct and am scared to death! lol I am getting shin splints…compression socks…does any brand pretty much work or do you have to go “expensive”?

Reply

SkinnyRunner July 24, 2012 at 9:49 am

i think as long as theyre really tight and have a high mg of compression, any brand would work. i personally like pro compression, its a small local company based out of san diego with great socks.
