Pickles and Candy, Candy and Pickles

by SkinnyRunner on March 23, 2012

After chowing down my breakfast on the run this morning, we left to head up north.  The one half of this duo that actually has a job had to stop on the way for a business meeting.

I too, thought business meeting was code for “Nordstrom shopping”, but he really did have a meeting.  weird.

So Marni and I walked to a nearby park while meetings were had.

There was a nice paved bike path circling the park so we walked 2.6 miles in a little over an hour.  It woulda been great except when I wasn’t looking, Marni did a WWF-style wrestling match in bird poop.  awesome.  So I had to give her a bath in the park restrooms… she still smells like crap.

When the meeting was over, the boy had a little gas station present for me:

DSCN9202

First, plastic children’s jewelry and now .75 cent candy?!  What did I do to deserve such a generous man?

And he had leftovers from his business lunch:

DSCN9207

All that I really wanted was the cup of pickles; I passed on the chips and cookie.

DSCN9209

Because one fast food cup of pickles isn’t enough for one day, we stopped at Chick-fil-A on the way so I could grab lunch, the Chargrilled Chicken Garden salad with extra pickles.

DSCN9211

I don’t know if I was on sugar overload or what, but this salad tasted so good.  Normally I think fast food salads are pretty weak, but this was mighty fine.

And right now we are in Westlake doing a little internet-golfing while our friends are off working and doing whatever people with normal jobs do.

DSCN9213

And yes, the boy bought me more candy.  So the tally is 4000 grams of sugar for the day and 400,000 milligrams of sodium.  the shining picture of heath… that’s me!

DSCN9214

If you could only eat one candy for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a really tough question, but I would go with cinnamon bears.

There is a Which Which not too far from my office, I have never been there. We recently got a Snarffs (or Snarfs) I have heard it is good.

I just had cinnamon bears this afternoon! Bought a package at the airport while waiting to pick up a friend. Between my girls and myself, the bears were slaughtered very quickly.

One candy for the rest of my life? Snickers holiday shapes. They are so yummy!

Give me caramels or give me death.

Plain M&M’s for me!

TiffanyS March 23, 2012 at 7:28 pm

Werther’s caramels are oh so addicting. Anything with caramel, like say snickers and milkyways would buy me off.

TKK March 23, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Now I want those melon ring things.

I’m sad I can never find cinnamon bears anywhere.

Its got to be the Troll sour gummy worms. I don’t know if you Cali people (haha!) know what I’m talking about but this southern girl (AL) must have a least 2 bags for every road trip. I always get a huge belly ache since I must have a mt.dew but I just suffer through it because they are so yummy.

And if I’m craving chocolate, it must be a Take 5.

Tough question! If it had to be chocolate…I’d go with Twix! If it was candy, then gummy bears. I could live on gummy bears…at least til I went into a sugar coma.

Take 5 is my favorite candy bar – everything good wrapped up into one delicious candy bar! Oh, and Chick-Fil-A has the best fast food salads that I’ve had. I like their chargrilled fruit and berry one. It’s really good and comes with a super delicious salad dressing.

One candy only? That might be serious cause for suicide. Kidding, obviously, but that would certainly be a bummer. Almost as big a bummer as someone telling me I could no longer eat pizza.

I’d have to go with my Necco wafers. My parents said it was my favorite, hands down, when I was like 4 years old. The only candy I wanted, so, hoping 4 year-old-self makes the right decision for the rest of my life. Other than that, I don’t have much candy loyalty (as in, I’ll eat any candy except maybe pixie sticks and fun dip – too sweet).

Tough call: in a battle between Swedish Berries and Hot Tamales I think that the Hot Tamales would win by a very small margin.

Reply

Cyndi March 24, 2012 at 2:09 am

Years ago I would have said candy corn or tootsie rolls. But now I’d say Junior Mints. Yum.
The last time I had that salad from Chick-fil-A, I thought the same thing. It was the best salad ever! It’s always fresh.

Hmm the candy question is way too hard! Chocolate candy … maybe peanut butter M&M’s? Or Reece’s cups?

Gummy candy … Jelly Belly! :)

Rebecca March 24, 2012 at 4:38 am

Swedish Fish! One of the guys I work with brought in a huge bag from BJ’s (similar to Costco). I limited myself to 3, it was pure torture! ;-)

Does chocolate count as candy? if not, it would be liquorice, but not the crappy American version, no the real, dutch drop! <3

Tropical Starbursts. I’d give up every other kind of candy for them…wow, maybe I SHOULD marry them!

Peanut M&Ms are South Beach Diet approved (very important) but I like making poor choices so I’d probably go with reese’s peanut butter cups mmmmmmm

I love cinnamon bears, really all candy. I would have a hard time picking just one candy.
I need to make my husband read your blog, he thinks it’s crazy that I put pickles on salads. I even have different brands according to the type of salad I am eating.

I don’t really care about sweets – maybe there aren’t any good ones here in China – so I prefer to consume my empty calories drinking wine instead! The only ones I can’t resist are from my homeland – Poland – we have the best sweets ever, rich chocolate often filled with all sorts of nuts. Every single summer i go back for a month and i gain 2 -3 chocolate (and pierogi) pounds. Oh well, so worth it.

Fav candy : York Peppermint Patties for sure! (and really sugary one: Sour Patch Kids)

What does your hubby do-if you don’t mind my asking?? He is sweet to get you extra stuff ;) My hubby always grabs the extra diet cokes for me (I drink ‘em like 4x/year as a treat) or the extra veggies OR the extra ice cream (?!! what?!). He knows me well.

I’d have to say Australian Licorice. Seriously good! Doesn’t even hold a candle to twizzlers.

I <3 chic-fil-a salads… sooo good! I love going to chic-fil-a because everyone is soo nice. great atomosphere! :)

Because I don’t include chocolate in the ‘candy’ category, it’s more of a food group on its own – I would go with swedish fish!

Reply

Kim March 24, 2012 at 2:26 pm

You don’t know how long I pondered the candy question. I think Jelly Bellies. Mainly because they have them in EVERY flavor so if I ever did crave something else, there’d be a Jelly Belly for that.

My husband buys me gas station presents all the time. I love it. :) The best was a mood ring with a big shell glued in the middle.

I love LOVE cinnamon bears!! I seriously look for them where ever we go!! But… if I had to choose just one for the rest of my life, I’d have to go with candy corn. Even when your teeth start to hurt, you can still nibble the little white ends.
