WORKOUT – Ran
10.0 miles/1:18
flat, a little on the
faster side
Walk – 3.05 miles
It was a bit of a struggle for me to keep the miles under 8 minutes each, but I was short on time since we were headed to the early service at church so I sucked it up to finish in time.
Then after church we took the dogs on a 3 mile walk. I don’t know if it’s the fabulous weather, the company, or the scenic flat bike path, but I have been loving walking here in Arizona and in general. It’s a great way to get outside and get a little exercise without going into full-on sweat mode.
YESTERDAY
We did some golfing in the afternoon, ok JJ did, and I read a book in the sun. tough life.
Last night we went out for birthday sushi for my mom. Last week in Portland my mom had been craving sushi so I went on Restaurant.com and found a certificate for Fresh Wasabi in Surprise, AZ. If you Google around and find a promo code, you can get a $25 certificate for as low as $2-3. (We had to spend a minimum of $40 which isn’t a problem with sushi – I can put it away)
Photo shoot before we left…
My mom and sister-in-law Marlie and Jaybob and my bright red tight pants
Shared saki. I still think saki tastes like foot so I passed.
We ordered a 3 person meal and then an extra roll and an edamame appetizer which was a perfect amount of food for the four of us.
I think Jeeb’s playing the piano here.
Reader Runners
Jessica at the 2012 Rodeo Run:
“The first time I wore my Team SR shirt I PR’ed and got first in my division – Cupid Shuffle 5k (2.12.12): 25:45:3 – I bet it was the shirt!”
Katlin at the Austin Livestrong Marathon:
“My goal was to run it in less than 4 hours less than a year after having a baby and I did it in 3:50:31 and my baby just turned 10 months. Yay! I think this picture is a classic "I’m on top of the world with a runner’s high" picture. Haha!”
And Katlin’s Crappy Reader Race Pic:
“I forgot to add my "crappy" race pic. Thought it was fitting since I’m literally running by crap and apparently, I’m trying not to breathe.”
And a special shout out to reader Angie (from Amanda) who ran the Fort Worth Cowtown Marathon today!

If I could rock red skin tight pants like that I would sooo be wearing them! You look great!
I would give anything to fit in skinny jeans right now! Pretty sure I’d look like a blow pop though. Maybe after baby?! Ha I can dream, right?
Look fly in your red skinnies! I saw someone on Michigan Ave today sporting tight bright blue ones and wondered if you have worn yours!
Love the red pants – you look awesome!
The only sushi that I’ve ever had is the free samples at Whole Foods
did you go to school at Texas Tech?
my husband did.
My husband and I did too!
you sure can rock those red skinny jeans!
keep soakin’ up those AZ rays for me!
Love your outfit! I’m dying for those shoes. What brand are they? They kind of look like a Michael Kors pair I’ve seen.
they are italian shoemaker(?) from nordstrom rack for $36. really comfortable!
Thanks! I’ll have to see if I can track them down.
Love the skinny red pants…I’ve been looking around for a bright pair. I always have a hard time matching shirts to them, as well as finding skinny pants that aren’t super long for short little me. Guess I gotta wear heals.
I agree that saki tastes awful…I’ve tried cold, unfiltered, flavored, doesn’t matter- no bueno
I love your thug life picture with marni
Love the red skinnies. I’m not bold enough to wear red pants.
Great reader story from Katlin! Go Mama!!
I’m loving those red jeans on you! I’m still on the lookout for a pair that fit my calves without being tighter than compression sleeves haha. Also, this whole time I thought you were writing Surprise, AZ to prevent stalkers, but realized that it’s a real place…haha oops.
Love your hair color! Did you have them do ombre hair coloring? Anyway, your hair looks fab and you’re rockin’ those skinny jeans!
I wanted to let ya know that I PR’d today in my half marathon (1:40:52)…I crossed mile 10 at 1:07 (you can see the last 3 miles really sucked for me but I still PR/d) and I thought to myself, “Woh, this is what it feels like to be SR on a training run!”
And then I bonked.
congrats on a PR! and its always sucky to bonk but hey, you get stronger for finishing and pulling through!
I saw you at sushi last night! I’ve been a reader for a long time and it was pretty shocking to run into you unexpectedly! I tried explaining to my husband that I know you, but not really. He thinks I’m a big nerd. Anyway, I wanted to say hi but I wussed out.
oh i wished you would have said hi! but my husband thinks im a big nerd too
I love taking walks lately too. Today I was able to take my niece out in the stroller after my recovery run from my 20 miler yesterday. It was so relaxing and peaceful.
Loved your top! Goes well with the red pants. Left to me, I would have gone with a plain white or black top – that’s how “imaginative” I am!
Hey, thanks for the shoutout! I may kill Amanda for not giving me a chance for a less-dorky picture though!
love reading your blog – and love the red pants!!!
Ha!! So funny that you are in Surprise AZ–when my dad is in a certain location in my parents’ house (in PA) Google Latitude shows him as being in “Surprise, AZ.”
I guess Google Latitude can’t really be trusted because once when my parents were in Indonesia, it showed them in Baghdad. Needless to say, I freaked out.
You look a lot less ugly than usual in that Tech shirt. You should wear them more often, if only for the sake of your marriage.
I love the Tech v-neck! I’ve looked online for one like it and no luck. Where did you get it?? My husband and I both went to TTU.. Love your blog
my sister in law bought it for me from old navy of all places! it was a christmas gift so i dont know if theyre selling them anymore.
