{You can get the full recap HERE; this is just like the cheaper, uglier step-sister}
After last weekend’s serious race, I wasn’t in the mood to race run the Tinkerbell half this morning. This was good because I didn’t even know if my costume would hold up for 13 miles. And yes, I’ll do a post on how I made it.
So Ariel and I decided to carpool up to Disneyland together after a 2:45am wake up carpool. Getting up that early is never a good decision but running this race with friends is. It made it so much more fun. If you’re thinking about doing a Disney event, I’d say do it for fun, do it with a friend, and dress up!
At the start I decided to crash Monica’s party and run the race with her.
After seeing Daffy and Minnie in their workout track suits, it was almost time to get it on and do it, but first I met reader Liz and her mom Pam, I believe, looking all cute:
And then we were off. Monica and I were in corral A so we didn’t have any corral issues or anything. In fact, there weren’t any issues with this inaugural race at all.
I’m not the biggest Disney fan in the world, I mean, I like it as much as anyone else but I don’t poo pixie dust, but this was a really fun, really easy logistical race. We didn’t have any problems with parking, corrals, anything – I was impressed.
This was running down Main Street. Since the race started at 5:45am, the first couple miles in the park were still dark so I took some fantastic quality pictures.
Running through the Castle:
I loved running through the park and seeing the characters; I wish they could fit all 13 miles in the park.
We also ran out in Anaheim, saw the sunrise and cruised along.
Ariel and I talked the whole time, keeping a nice pace and doing plenty of people-costume watching. It was just a lot of fun and the perfect post-Carlsbad race.
I mean, how could you not have fun when you get to see sweaty men in tights, tight tights?!
We also met reader Heather (name correct?) who’s getting married soon; I tried to convince her to sign up for a full marathon!
After a few miles out in Anaheim we headed back for the park and ran through California Adventure.

And just like that, the race was over. Monica and I both finished right around 1:50.
Ariel and Minnie Mouse for the win!

Seriously your Minnie outfit is too cute for words.
Were you cold? Just curious…can’t wait to hear how you put it all together.
Great time too….
I can’t express how much I love your costumes. What I’d do to live in California and be able to run in mouse ears!
I saw your costume posted earlier on your blog and thout it was super cute! This evening, my boyfriend and I were at our neighborhood Italian restaurant (I live in Santa Monica) and the local ABC news happened to be on a small tv in the corner. They had a piece on the race and I saw you and Run, Eat, Repeat on the screen running and waving! Congrats on the race!
i want to see it!!! where can i??
I saw you on the news too! I thought, cute costume…wait I know her, wait no I just read her blog and pretend to know her. Still kind of awesome.
Love your costume.
Just wanted to let you know that I saw a runner in my neighborhood today (Burlington, Vermont) wearing a SR shirt- the birds one. It looked cute!
How fun! Always a good time running a race w/ friends. Loving the medal too! Def will keep this race in mind
What an awesome outfit, I love it!
Totally agree- this race went so smooth. Maybe competitor should call the mouse for some tips!
OK, I was in A too- must have been to dark to find one another
Love both costumes!
You guys look super cute
Congrats on the race! I think running through Disneyland would be a blast!
That race looks really fun, and I absolutely love your costume. Minnie’s got some competition.
Sounds like the race was a good relaxing time. You gotta have fun races to mix with the serious every now and then. The costumes were great!
Thanks for jogging with me Minnie Runner!
That looks like an amazingly fun race! Both of your outfits were adorable – you and Ariel!
Aren’t Disney races the best?! I did the Princess Half a few years ago in Disney world and Loved it. It’s definitely not a race to RACE. It is a race to take in the scenery! Glad you had a good time
Your costume was too cute!
I love those costumes – you girls look great!
I also love how to take the time to talk to your readers (while running, no less!) and even mention them on your blog.
Costumes=awesome! Running with friends=even more awesome!
You look fab! Great job lady!
Best costume EVER. Costumes are encouraged for the half I’m running in May… I have no idea what I’m going to wear yet, but I know I’ll definitely be dressing up!
Looks like so much fun, glad you guys were able to run together.
Nothing beats fun runs with friends and costumes!
I freaking LOVE your costume! And no sewing?!? Genius!!
That’s awesome that you got to run and know it’s not necessarily to race, especially with that super cute costume!
Looks like a great race to do! Sounds fun too. http://www.dashingdiva.net
I saw your costume on Twitter the morning before your race & thought it was so cute!!! & HOLY abs! I’m envious
Looks like it was a suppper fun time! Love the costumes!
OH so fun!! I want to do that race:)
CUTE outfit, girl. TOtally want to know how you made it.
I’m really enjoying your blog. I am a beginning runner and I need all the inspiration I can get. That run looks like it was a lot of fun.
Thanks
I am in love with those outfits!!!!! You ladies rocked them
This race looks like so much fun!!! And, for the record I don’t think that Minnie ever had abs like that, you look hot!
You’re costume is awesome, I love it!! I wanted to run this half, but it sold out crazy fast. I’m hoping to be able to run it next year. It looks likes so much fun!
Oh, and the girl duck’s name is Daisy, not Daffy. That’s the duck from Looney Toons. (you can tell I have kids, huh?!)
That race looks like a lot of fun! I have decided this year, I need to incorporate more style into my racing. Not sure about Minnie Mouse ears, but I need something more than the basic running gear.

Hey SR…
it’s your blog stalker from the race.
It’s Ashley (not Liz). LOL. But you linked to my blog, so I feel like a freakin’ super star.
I told my mom that it was like when you’re a freshman in highschool and the cool, hot, senior boy says “Hi, ‘wrong name’” and you don’t even care because he recognized you anyways.
I emailed you our pic.
love,
your blog stalker, Ash
ok im going to blame it on the ash and diz that i came up with liz. sorry! stalk on, my friend.
Super cute costume & awesome race report! Tink is my fav character, so I HAD to run this race. My race report will be up later this week, in 2 parts. Cuz I’m wordy & took too many pictures
Loved the quality pics!
I love when people dress up. And these are Disney themed. Even better!
I saw you at the race. I was actually standing next to you at Corral A. I just didn’t know it was you. Kind of silly since you always have the cutest costume. I love it. Big Congrats!
