So many burgers in Vegas

by SkinnyRunner on December 4, 2011

This morning I got up at 6am for no good reason since the race starts at 4pm today.  I thought the late start would be cool; no, it’s just a really effective way of making you waste an entire day being nervous and wishing it was 4pm already.

So I left the hotel at 7:45am to go to a coffee shop and do some internetting.

Jaybo met me a little later and we went to the Planet Hollywood sports book where I sat and surfed the web while he watched football.  It worked out because I couldn’t nag him about how bored I was like I normally do.

On our way back to the hotel to eat, I met readers Maggie, Tricia and mom Barbara (sorry if I spelled names wrong or got them wrong completely!) who were very sweet and said hi.  Good luck today, girls!

I was talking which is why I look constipated.  and I might have been constipated.

Since I had left the hotel room really early and hadn’t been back, I was wearing Nike running tights and my shoes.  Didn’t realize it at the time but I’m sure I looked like a major doofus who got ready for the race about 8 hours in advance.  at least I didn’t have my bib on yet…

We ate at Holsteins in the Cosmopolitan around 12:45.  I’m going to do a post later on everything I ate and when since that’s a question everyone (me included) has… what do I eat for a late afternoon race?!

DSCN6995

Holsteins is a pretty rad burger and shake joint with all sorts of ice cream concoctions, alcoholic shakes, and tons of different burgers with an emphasis on organic products.

I had the classic burger without mayo or cheese on a wheat bun with steak fries.  and water, no shakes here.

The burger was awesome – one of the better burger I’ve had.  I ate half the fries and gave the rest to Jay; they were decent but nothing mind blowing.

Now I just hope it all has time to digest… I am nervous!  I just want the race to start already.  blah.

Good luck tonight!

The Cereal Bowl shake at Holsteins is my most favorite thing ever. I almost missed my flight trying to get one last shake in last time I was there.

Pre race burger, I like the sound of that.
I’ll wait to see how it for you though before that is my pre race meal. :-) I hope it was a great race, I can’t wait to hear about it and see the pics. I bet the strip looks weird with only runners on it.

honestly, race directors who have a later start should be given a special kind of torture.

can’t wait to see/hear about how it all went down!

I can’t believe I saw you on Friday with Matt & Marlie and I didn’t say Hi!! I was too shy and didn’t want to bother you!! I would have gone to the blogger meetup but we were living it up in the Grand Canyon on Saturday! Come run of your races in Toronto (Canada) and I promise to say HI next time!!! :)

You’ve clearly already run, so now it’s time to go check it out!

I’m digging the tights and sneakers with a normal shirt look, basically because that’s how I ended up having to travel home after the race that wasn’t on Saturday.
