WORKOUT – Ran on hotel gym 7.0 miles/60 mins .1 incline
The hotel gym at the Trump, it’s pretty swanky overlooking the pool:
I alternated between watching news and watching the wind outside. It is really windy here in Vegas today!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Backing up to yesterday… we left early to make it out to Vegas in time to get work done. And by work, I mean Jabe working over the slot machines.
He won some money at the Paris Casino so now he loves France. Like he wants to be besties with every French person and every french fry he sees. Now that’s foreign policy I can support.
We also met my little brother Matti and his new wife Marlie there. We didn’t really want to claim them in public for obvious reasons…
…but we did on the stipulation that they address me as “SR” all weekend and only speak in respectful, hushed tones in my presence.
And some people say that dating your siblings is only a Southern thing. Hello, Alaska too!
We walked through the Bellagio where they were working on the Christmas Conservatory display so you couldn’t walk through there yet, but it was pretty amazing – that polar bear is made of all flowers.
In the afternoon I met my Refuel with Chocolate Milk teammates at an amazing suite at the Wynn.
Sarah and Dimity from AnotherMotherRunner
Aron from Runners Rambles
Beth from ShutUpandRun
Janae from HungryRunnerGirl
me
Monica from RunEatRepeat was missing but she was there in spirit as I ate and drank her share of the appetizers and low-fat chocolate milk.
We were able to talk round-table style about running: our training, injuries, motivation, how to fuel properly, etc. It was pretty cool to hear everyone’s story – from Sarah who’s run for 20 years to Beth who only started running recently and has already done Boston.
We also talked about the benefits of low-fat chocolate milk as a recovery drink and how it’s accessible, affordable, all natural and healthy.
(HRG’s picture, thanks Billy for being our photog all day)
After being wined milked and dined, I met up with these guys again. They just can’t quit me… especially when I threaten to call the Nevada Gaming Board with an anonymous tip about “someone” counting cards.
Then we went to check into our room at the Trump Hotel. We stayed here last night but are moving today to another hotel today. We’re hobos at heart.
We’ve stayed at the Trump before; we do “name your own price” on Priceline and always get the Trump. I’m gonna start putting the price in at $10 and they’ll still give me a room.
But it’s really nice with a huge glassed-in bathroom, small kitchenette, a coffeemaker(!), and you don’t have to pay to use the fitness center. Of course, it’s included in the resort fee to begin with, but a lot of big casino hotels charge you another fee to use their stuff. crazy.
Last night around 10 (way past my bedtime: way past the time I can make intelligent, witty conversation) I met up with a bunch of bloggers for a drink at the Wynn.
If you hate bloggers, do not come to Vegas this weekend. Just stay home and type your hate rants out on your computer where it’s safe because Vegas is overrun by bloggers.
Me, RER, SarahOUaL, HungryRunnerGirl, RunnersRambles, Page, Emily and RunningofftheReeses.
After showing my true personality (boring, tired and played out), I said goodbye and went back to my room at 1am. Yes, I stayed out that late; normally that’s about the time I’m getting up.
And then I still got up at 6am. on my own. it’s sad. Lameness knows no bounds. I bet Sarah and Emily stayed out later than that. I know Monica had too…
Oh, I also met the supersweet Sandy from BICbands too; a fun day all around.
I started blogging to let other people know how awesome I am, but I’ve met a lot of great people through it and had some wonderful opportunities. on that sappy note, I’m outta here.
Paris Casino is the best! My favorite thing is the signs pointing to “Les Toilets” and “Les Car Rental” in the lobby.
I am so jealous! I got excited to recognize runners on my own haha. (lame, I know). I like Sara and Dimity, their book and website! Have a great rest of the weekend!
Bummed I missed out on stepping inside a fancy hotel room, guess I’ll have to make do in this “no tell motel”…
Sounds like Vegas is treating you well so far!
And I’m the same way–regardless of what time I go to bed, I’m up at 7 at the latest!
I blog because I think I am awesome, but I have a feeling you are a tad cooler!
no my friend, i am not.
Wow, I’m impressed that you stayed out that late. It’s a miracle these days if I stay up past 10:30. Sad, but true.
I’m so jealous!! Dang….wish I was there! Love Vegas anyway, for the sites of course. The little men flipping stripper cards at ya are a little creepy. Tried to talk my hubby into going on a “runcation” as HGR calls it, but he said I had to pick between Vegas and new running tights. Have you seen my camo ones? Yea, nuff said. I’m cheering y’all on from Georgia!
All the ladies look lovely. Seriously, you & Janae are show stopping. Y’all look GORGEOUS!!
What a great time. Can’t wait for race recap!
Hope y’all rock it out like y’all did in NY!!
really jealous of all you girls out there this weekend! Can’t wait to hear about the race!
That looks like one hell of a trip…then again anything looks better then alaska right now!
I want to go to Vegas so bad!
I can’t believe you ran those miles today so close to the race … but then again you are SR …
Looking forward to the recap!
Sounds totally fun. I love getting together with fellow bloggers. Makes me anxious for Blissdom Blog Conference in a few months…only wish someone would pay my way!!
Looks super fun – I’m jealous! Have a great time!
So jealous that you know Shut Up and Run! She’s the first real running blogger that we followed, and we would love to meet her (and YOU!).
I wish I knew you were at The Trump! So are we!! We’re up on the 45th floor with an awesome view of the strip. I would’ve totally come down to the gym and stalked you/tried to keep up on the treadmill next to you/asked for a pic…
So how COLD and WINDY is it???! I live in Virginia so I run outside in the winter and have a ton of warm running clothes but brought almost nothing. I had to go to Lululemon and Niketown today
I spy “Parasol Up”! Love the Wynn.
Totally bummed that I couldn’t do the race. Considering it’s Saturday night at 8:30pm and I just finished WORKING, I guess that’s why I have no time to train. Le sigh.
Totally jealous – rock the race! I shall live vicariously through all of you.
I so wish I were able to be in Vegas this weekend. I’ve been daydreaming about the Strip at Night ever since I first read about it here on SR. Have fun and good luck!
I’m super jealous!! Looks like so much fun! Good luck at the race… not that you crazy speed demons need it
Sooo jealous. You guys will have such a blast. I can’t wait to read all the recaps across the blogs!
That looks like so much fun!! Can’t wait to hear about the race.
