First things first: go check me out on Fitness Magazine. Then ogle at my dumbness.
As all shoe companies do – at least the ones that stay in business -Saucony is going to be coming out with new shoes next month:
“The new models – Guide 5, Triumph 9 and Hurricane 14 – will have a new heel- to-toe offset of 8mm. This is a 33% reduction in the heel-to-toe offset of the average running shoe.”
Is this an 8mm drop?
What’s the dealio with 8mm? I thought that was a movie.
It’s supposed to help create a more “balanced, comfortable and powerful position without reducing cushioning or stability. Also, runners can more easily adjust their stride to a midfoot strike, aligning the lower body to absorb impact.” So it sounds like a racing flat with the cushion and stability of a high mileage shoe.
Saucony did a bunch of testing and they think that 8mm (typical running shoes have 10-12mm drops) is the best geometry for their shoes. All I know is I hate geometry. and math. and science.
Check out a video here for more details.
But seriously, when’s Saucony gonna make this shoe? You know that’s not your size, Jamie.
And guess what? You could be one of the first to try them out!
Even though the Guide 5 and the Triumph 9 don’t come out in stores until November, Saucony is going to give a pair of either style away in a sweepstakes to one SR reader.
This means you should wear the shoes and then rub it other peoples’ faces and act really important. I do this all the time and only occasionally get punched.
The two shoes to choose from:
Guide 5 – the most popular Saucony shoe just got 1.5 oz. lighter, more flexible, and the 8mm heel-toe offset allows for a lower impact stride without compromising stability or cushion
Triumph 9 -PowerGrid technology with PowerFoam™ delivers an ultra-cushioned ride that lets you pile on the mileage in a shoe that is lighter and faster than ever before
Ummm, I love the words “pile on the mileage”. and “pile on the frosting”.
All you have to do to enter is answer the question,
What shoes do you run in? Brand and style?
Contest ends Saturday 10/22 at noon West Coast is the Best Coast time. Winner will be chosen at random.
Also, Saucony is having a contest on Facebook to win a pair of shoes as well so check it out there. double your chances of winning.
