I know this has absolutely nothing to do with health or fitness and I generally try to keep the celebrity posts pertain to those topics, but since it’s so important, I have to ask: what did you think of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress?
The dress was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and had a 10’ train, I think.
“The whole world has been raving about this dress since the wedding! There will no doubt be less expensive copies of it available everywhere soon. Her jewellery was also incredible. There might be similar designs on 77 Diamonds or diamondsdesigners.com before too long! Kate Middleton has been hailed internationally as an elegant and beautiful fashion icon. The rest of the royals may have a hard time keeping up with her exquisite style!”
From what I read, the gown was very reminiscent of Grace Kelly.
And then she changed into another gown for the reception, also designed by Sarah Burton:
So what do you think of the dresses?

LOVED it.
Super modern and sleek and fashionable, yet still elegant, refined, and classy. Well done.
Yep, Kate’s dress is my all time favourite wedding dress. Stunning lady and gown!
Carli @D&R
I love them both. She looked gorgeous and so happy.
Love both dresses. They are timeless and I think she wore those dresses instead of being worn by the dresses.
Classy, pretty, demure, and yet, sexy.
Even though it may be a dress I would not design, I think it is the Perfect dress for a future Queen. It also fit with Kate’s style. Regardless, I love her and them!!
Yeah, I should have tried to tie my Royal post into fitness too but oh well.
Loved both dresses, classic and elegant. At first I was wishing her wedding dress had been a bit more modern, but now I think it was a good choice.

I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous. I loved everything about the entire day.
Loved it!
Simple, yet elegant. I loved them both but honestly think she’d have looked beautiful in just about anything.
I think she looked beautiful! Very classy dresses – looked perfect for her. I heard on 20/20 that the train was 8′ but i don’t know for sure. Her sister’s dress was so pretty too.
I LOVED it! I think I liked it so much because it was fairly simple. I thought she looked beautiful
Loved them! She is so gorgeous though, she’d look good in a paper bag!
I’ve been reading your blog for over a year (and love you!) and this is the first time ive left a comment on any blog. I think the dress was amazing, yea I was kind of wanting a little more, but also appreciate the classic elegance I think that she became a princess perfectly.
I loved both of her dresses — I’m usually not a fan of lace sleeves but hers looked so pretty!
The dresses were perfect for her! Very classy and she looked so pretty. Loved her sister’s dress too.
I think they are very fitting for her and very elegant. She looked beautiful.
I totally loved her wedding dress. And her sister’s dress was pretty awesome too.
Personally I’m not a fan of either dress…but then, I’m not the kind of person who would ever have a shot at being a queen, so yah.
She looks amazing and wears them very well but I’m not loving on the actual dresses like the majority of the population!
I LOVE both of them. The first one is so elegant and classic, whereas the second one has a little bit more of a modern touch to it with the angora shrug and rhinestone (no…probably diamond) belt. I think that she looked amazing. Although, is it just me or were her boobs a little cone shaped in both of them?
not my style, but they were absolutely the perfect mix of traditional with a modern flair – perfect for a princess! i usually hate anything with sleeves and all that extra train, but it just fit her style so well.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Thanks for having Sleeves Catharine! I think she chose really classy dresses that were also a part of her personality and a nod to past royals [Princess Grace]. It was wonderful how they were kept simple
Stunning. Both classic, and modern.
both dresses, absolutely beautiful and perfect for her! sigh…to be a princess. wait, i like my anonymity
It wasn’t what I was expecting, for sure. She looked beautiful, of course, but frankly I thought the lace sleeves/top was a bit dated and looked like it was for an older bride (could have been cute as a “jacket” add on for later). I think the dress would have looked nicer without the lace top, though still kind of plain. Though I suppose when you marry into the royal fam, you probably have to look a bit more traditional than most. Reception dress was nice (again, simple) but didn’t care for the furry jacket thing.
Hi SR!
I loved them. How could you not? She looked gorgeous. I saw when she and Prince William just sat down in the carriage and she smiled at him and said “I’m so happy”. It was so cute.
I want to be a princess! lol
Shut up. She said that? That’s awesome. It was beautiful. The dress was beautiful. Total Grace Kelly. She is classic, elegant and flawless. A lovely choice. England needed this. The royal family needed this.
I saw that too and LOVED it!!! You could really tell that they are both extremely happy and really do love each other.
That might be a first for this particular royal family.
I loved both of her dresses. Stunning. I also liked her sister’s dress. So pretty.
I knew I could count on you Sarah! I was going to google royal wedding pictures, but I knew you would have the most important pictures… of her dress.
Is Pam Landy your real name?! That’s the lady’s name from the Bourne movies haha. I love it
Haha, yes it is! Wouldn’t it be great if I could get some “royalties” from those movies?! I would love to know how they came up with that name for her character.
I thought she looked classy, timeless. Simply beautiful! Have a great weekend and good luck Sunday!!!!
both dresses were both spot on… elegant, gorgeous, and respectful of the occasion. She’s a gem… love her.
I’m SO sick of these people but I absolutely LOVELOVELOVE this dress!!!!! And the train was a good length. Much better than 25 ft!
Love love love.
LOVED them. Perfect and gorgeous!
I like the dress on the chic holding her train. Kate’s dress is too conservative for my taste, but I’ll take her 19 inch waist my goooooodness. It’s tiny, that’s what’s Grace Kelly!
So I’m sitting here in my Eugene Best Western hotel, disappointed I did not succeed in hunting you down at the expo. Just kidding I would actually be shy and run away if I found you, but you DID come up in conversation at the expo because there were some food bars being sampled, and I said I had seen them reviewed on your blog. They were yummy…..
I, too, wrote a royal-wedding-focused blog post loosely tied to the topic of my blog
I loved Kate’s dress! Sure, it’s not a dress I would wear myself, but apparently these royal weddings have to be conservative or whatever, so in that case I think it was perfect. The second one was also gorgeous, although I’ve only seen the one picture with the shrug thingy over it (I read it was strapless?).
All I want to know is, why was Prince William dressed like a nutcracker?
A nutcracker- bahahahaha!! Totally true!
because he’s in the military and that’s the jacket of a colonel.
Her dress is amazing! I think that she is such an amazing girl and this dress summed her up to a t. I loved it and I loved the interaction between the two of them when he first saw her. So cute!
I thought Kate’s dresses suited her just perfectly. My husband remarked that the only thing that came up ALL day on the sport radio shows was PIPPA! PIPPA! PIPPA!
i love her wedding dress. looks like a malay kebaya outfit
I LOVE the dresses. The wedding dress is just amazing. She is such a beautiful bride. I’m kinda kicking myself that I slept through it but you know sleep is just more important to me than Royal Weddings. I’ll just catch the next one. Maybe. If it is during a decent hour.
LOVE the ceremony gown. Perfect. The details on the skirt (big pleats)and the lace on the bodice so perfect. Reception dress – LOVE, except the sweater (it was ok, just didn’t love it). If she wanted a little shoulder cover, maybe a little bling bolero to match the belt.
I thought the dress was nice, but that her sister actually looked better.
loved them both! really loved her sister’s dress too.
OMG his suit does look like he is from the Nutcracker. I’ve been trying to place it all day.
I loved both of them. Compared to the other recent royal weddings (Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Norway), the first dress was the most beautiful, and one I’d love to have on my wedding day myself. Although it’s quite impossible to look as stunningly beautiful as Kate..:)
It wouldn’t be my choice, but I think it was fitting for the occasion.
I thought she looked beautiful but her wedding dress was a little too conservative for my tastes. It kind of looked like my mother’s wedding dress to be honest. I mean, I know she had to dress that way though. I did like her evening gown.
Alright, I will be honest. I loved the top of the dress but not the bottom half so much. I mean it was beautiful but not what I was expecting from Kate. Second dress didn’t like at all really. I design woman’s clothing for a living so maybe I am being a little harsh BUT I do agree she did look beautiful overall. But really my most favorite dress was her sister’s. Love loved it!
I loved Pippa’s dress! I would wear that to a beach wedding.
Perfect~I can’t wait to see more ofherdresses in the future eventhough I’m not even a celeb folower!
Loved her dress. I also think her sister’s dress was gorgeous!
She looked absolutely gorgeous and I think the dress was probably as sexy and modern as is appropriate for a royal wedding
I liked her wedding dress more than her reception dress. I wasn’t really “wowed” by either one of them and then I realized she had to wear sleeves. But she would look beautiful in a trash bag. I thought she looked gorgeous.
Loved it! Beautiful and appropriate.
I loved the first one, I thought it was perfect for a princess. The second one I wasn’t that impressed with but I get it.
I found your blog while visiting “Why Not On A Tuesday” and I couldn’t resist visiting because of your blog title and then I decided to follow your blog! I am a runner too and am proud of it! In fact, one of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received is “you look like a runner”! Yeah!
Anyway, I do love the wedding gown but I don’t like the evening gown. The evening gown, to me, looks like something she could wear to bed as a night gown but that’s just my opinion. I think the dress could’ve had more pizzazz too!
When I first saw her dress I immediately thought of how beautiful she looked! But, my inner “max-inista” side wanted to see her less conservative, less matronly. I wanted her to turn heads and make jaws drop!! It didn’t make my “jaws drop” it was just “very pretty.” I think that Kate would’ve looked great even if she stepped out in a trashbag…she’s just soo beautiful and very low maintenance. It was just a dress that was a ‘LIL forgettable. I love her second dress and her hair! She has beautiful hair…but, where’s her necklace and polished nails??
I really liked the first dress (minus the train), but the second didn’t seem very original. I kind of expected more.
I think she looks beautiful and its perfect for her. But I am truly sick and tired of all this royal wedding media coverage….is it over yet??????
I liked the second dress a ton (minus the shrug, of course) but it was a little understated for someone who could be a queen oneday (for me, it’d be a fabulous and elegant dress, but for a queen…?). The first dress, not my favorite. I tend to be more conservative in my wedding dress opinions since I was raised REALLY Southern Baptist and I appreciate a dress that has some coverage. However, there is something about that ceremony dress just threw me off. Maybe the neckline?
Loved it all. She looked absolutely perfect.
LOVED IT!! she can do no wrong- seriously.
I think that the dress was a perfect combination of classic elegance and modern beauty with a whimsical grace. It was not too over the top fancy yet it’s who she is as a person that really makes the dress so gorgeous. Well done Kate!
Stunning!
Oh, and it regards to posts having “nothing to do with health or fitness,” who cares?! Personally, I can’t get enough pictures of Sutton being adorbs and Kelton playing mans! However, if Niki ever does a post on how she keeps those guns while wrangling two babies, I’ll be the first to read it!
I think part of wrangling two babies has something to do with it!
Love it! She looked gorgeous & classy. I also loved Pippa’s dress & thought she looked amazing.
I really was not a fan of her ceremony dress. Just not feeling the lace. I like the dress she wore at the reception, minus that cover-up.
Don’t worry about bein slightly off-topic, this is major news in the fashion world!
I loved both of Kate’s gowns – the first surprised me a little because it’s so classically beautiful, with styling of a bygone era. However it complemented her body perfectly and was a suitable choice for such a formal wedding. The bustle detailing is my favorite part of the dress!
Her evening gown is also lovely – of course much more modern and sleek, like what we’re used to seein Kate wear. I loved the angora bolero jacket, it’s a very british accessory.
I also loved that she didn’t wear any silly hat… And also wore her hair down. Her long, flowy hair is a wonderful accessory by itself!
Both dresses: GORGEOUS! *For those who think her ceremony dress was too conservative, or she was too covered up, she wasn’t allowed to have bare arms in the church so that’s why she had a lace shrug. I thought she looked very timeless, regal, fitting of someone who is going from “commoner” to “duchess”.
Pippa (her sister) had a beautiful dress as well. I wouldn’t mind wearing that as a bride, either. Most of the men I’ve talked to who watched or saw Pippa want her phone number
– did you see her party dress from later in the evening?! Hot damn!
Loved them both!!!!!
I thought she looked absolutely beautiful! I think both of her dresses made her look so elegant!
LOVE!! Although im sure Kate wishes she had SR’s dress !
I pretty much ignored all the wedding coverage the past several months but now that it’s come and gone, I’m totally stalking pics and coverage. LOVED both dresses, especially the first one. So appropriate and classy and it looked amazing on her. Everything tied in so well- the hair, makeup, tiara, veil.
I was thinking Kate’s wedding dress would have the Melania Trump contemporary and over the top, wow factor, but obviously that wasn’t the case. Kate carried the dress well and she looked stunning in it. I didn’t like the lace on the dress. Her reception dress was cute, minus the furry, hairy, crop top cardigan thing she wore. I have liked all her outfits at the public appearances she’s made, leading up to her wedding and it’s obvious she will be a fashion icon, just like Diana.
i think the dress was amazing – for someone getting married at westminster where you can’t kiss or hold hands i wouldn’t dream of her wearing anything more modern or revealing. anyone who expected that obviously doesn’t realize the formality of the location. just look at the guests – the only modern thing they wore were those fascinator hats, otherwise the dresses were all much more conservative.
she was gorg.
My first reaction to the dress was that I didn’t like it at all. BUT, now it’s kinda growing on me. A little.
I think my main problem now is that she didn’t do anything different with her hair than it looks every other day. I mean, she’s gorgeous. Her hair is always gorgeous. I think I just expected something more fancy for the wedding.
But that reception dress. Oh man. BEAUTIFUL.
Lurve!!!
Simple and classy.
They were very pretty and elegant, BUT….you’re about to become a PRINCESS for pete’s sake…go big or go home! I’m not saying it had to be gaundy or over the top like Diana’s dress, but a little more ‘princess-fairy-tale-like’ would have impressed me more. But again, she looked beautiful.
Loved her from head to toe, she looked amazing!!
AMAZING!!!
No complaints here! I was shocked how tiny her waist was. Then I heard a commentary later saying there was padding in the hip area of her dress to give the allusion of a smaller waist.
I love it! If I were to have a wedding dress, it would be this but with the white going up on the shoulders and part of the arms with only part of the arms lace only. Beautiful, elegant, refined.
Loved both her dresses- kind of alarming you can see a hipbone poking out in the second one though. Her sister looked amazing and stole the show in a lot of people’s eyes here- her ass looked like it was carved out of marble!
LOVED the dress! I thought it was an 8′ train.
Both dresses were beautiful, and so Kate.
P.S. Love your site!
I thought her dress was gorgeous!! Even with the sleeves. And I LOVED her evening gown!
I hadn’t seen the second dress until now! I love both – I think the original is the perfect balance of elegance and detail while still be simple and not over the top. She looked absolutely gorgeous.
Kate was beautiful, loved the dress
I agree with the comment on the dress making her boobs look coneshaped..something weird about that part….
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the wedding dress!! So simple and elegant. Perfect for a beautiful princess.
The second dress is really pretty but I don’t care for the furry shurg thing.
Loved them!! She is simply a lovely young lady…
I loved it – absolutely perfect for the occasion! Everything was stunning!
She’s so simply gorgeous, sophisticated, and beautiful!
AMAZING! Just simply amazing!
Both gowns were beautiful but I guess I expected more of a fairy tale dress for the wedding. She looked amazing as always.
I think she looked stunning & so classic + Pippa looked amazing.
