My celebrity Interview

by SkinnyRunner on April 27, 2011

Before you guys go thinking I’m really cool, I have Jordan from the PCRF Cinco de Mayo Half Marathon Race to thank for hooking me up with this sweet interview.

I’ve ran the race the past 2 years and would again this year except I’ll be running the Eugene Marathon on the same day.

There’s still time to sign up… it’s this Sunday on May 1st.  I know Pam is doing and so is OnceUponALime.

Now on to my interview with… Tenley Molzahn from The Bachelor (season 14 with Jake Pavelka) and Bachelor Pad!

Kiptyn_Locke_Tenley_Molzahn

Tenley and her boyfriend Kiptyn Locke, who was on season 4 of The Bachelorette with Jillian Harris, are going to walk the PCRF half with their team Hope Strides for Cancer AngelsCheck out their page here; there’s still time to donate if you’d like.

THE INTERVIEW

Let’s get straight to the really important stuff: How do you get your abs?!  What do you do and how can I steal them, I mean, get abs like you?

Thank you, I’m flattered. I enjoy doing ab work when I’m bored, or sitting around watching TV.

It’s actually quite annoying to others so I’ve been working on new ab habits!  Like doing circuit workouts following my girlfriends and online trainers at Tone It Up.  (Read more about Tenley’s personal involvement with Tone It Up)

Tenley with the Tone It Up girls Katrina Hodgson and Karena Dawn.

You have a background in dance, dancing around the world in Disney productions so obviously you need me to show you my moves.  I’ve heard the "I have a herniated disk" move is really gaining momentum these days…

Oh yes, I’d love to see your "I have a herniated disk" move!

It’s true, I did have the amazing opportunity of dancing for Disney and living in Tokyo for almost a year as a performer at Tokyo Disney.  And I have had my fair share of doing the trendy "herniated disk" dance!

Has dance always been your main form of exercise?  Is it still a huge part of your life?

I spent ages 3-12 as a gymnast, a few of those years as a competitive gymnast, and I think that had a lot to do with shaping my body.  But from 12 on I started dancing, and that was my main form of exercise for many, many years.

These days I’m all about running, yoga, Pilates, circuit training, and still dancing every once in a while while doing Tracy Anderson dance cardio!

Hawaii_2_038

When did you take up running?  And is this your first half marathon?

I’ve always enjoyed running. I actually did track in middle school and was a sprinter. But dance and running don’t really go hand in hand; I was always a rebel in that way! I started seriously running when I was 21, and keep falling more and more in love with it, setting new goals and accomplishing them! I’m up to 8 miles!!

I still have never ran in a race, and will be walking in the PCRF event because I wanted to be more available to walk with our team. This is a goal of mine though, to run a half marathon!  It will be done!

If you could give one piece of fitness advice, what would it be?

Hmmm…My biggest piece of advice would just be to keep moving and continue to set goals and change things up!

Now on to the really hard hitting stuff: reality television.  Also known as the other love of my life.  What was the biggest surprise or shock when you were on television?  Is everything totally different than what us viewers see?

I think the biggest shock was that I WAS on TV. haha. I had gone off and spent about 7 weeks of my life filming this show, then I came home and had about 2 months back in real life and I couldn’t talk to anyone about what had happened, so I had moved on.

And then all of a sudden, it was on TV, millions were watching, and I went through all of it all over again. That was strange!  AND I hadn’t even thought about how many people watch the show. Wild!

What viewers see is a 1 hour version of about 72 hours+ of footage edited down to make a TV show. There is a lot missing, but it’s pretty accurate. I think of it as 90% accurate to who we are or how things went down, give or take a little.

Who’s hated more by the general public, Jake or Vienna? Personally, they both seem a little cray-cray…

Hmmmm… this is not a personal stance at all, but I think Jake has lost a lot of respect from the public. Both Vienna and Jake are kind to me, and I can only speak from personal experience. ;)

Which did you like filming better: The Bachelor or The Bachelor Pad?

They were both so different. The Bachelor was such an amazing and healing experience for me in the journey that I was on in life at that time. I had no expectations of how it would be, so there wasn’t any disappointment.

But filming Bachelor Pad was fun because it was time with friends in a fun environment, although the competition was not so cool. I walked out of The Bachelor Pad with something great though, my boyfriend, Kiptyn. Oooohh… I’m getting all cheese ball! ;)

Hawaii_3_and_Christmas_258

What was one of the best parts about filming and one of the worst?

Best parts of filming were unique opportunities I would never have dreamed of having!

The worst would be interviews (called ITM’s: In the Moment) when you don’t want to do them because you’re tired or don’t feel like talking about your feelings. But at the same time, sometimes those ITM’s feel good; it’s like a counseling session in a way!

I’m sure you’ve met tons of celebrities (I’m turning green with envy); who were some of the most fun, exciting people you’ve met?

Where do I begin?? I feel honored to have met the people I have.  And it’s so funny when I find out that these celebrities have watched The Bachelor! I’d say Ellen was really cool. I’ve also become friends with Candace Cameron Bure (yes, DJ from Full House)! So cool.

Let’s see… lots of cool peeps, but when Courtney Cox waved and said hi to me 2 days in a row, I thought that was unbelievable! haha. I feel blessed as I’m sitting here thinking through the people I’ve met and the opportunities I’ve had!

0303_bachelor_ellen-1

So on Bachelor Pad, you met your man friend Kiptyn Locke.  Tell us a little about him. :)

*SIGH*… my sweet man. Kiptyn and I were friends before we went on Bachelor Pad, and there was definitely chemistry between the two of us, but we just didn’t budge in how we felt about each other until our date to Catalina (on the show). It was unavoidable by then! I’m all smiles.

Kiptyn is a real good man, not kidding, completely genuine, and has a real servant’s heart. Aww… blessed again! :)

Tenley-and-Kiptyn

You, of course, have an amazing body, so on behalf of me and all my readers, we hate you.  kidding.  Tell us about going gluten-free… is it hard to eat that way or are you used to it?  When and why did you start eating gluten-free?  Any advice out there for people thinking about making some dietary changes?

Thank you!  For my whole life I lived with extreme stomach pain and issues and never knew how to fix it. When I was 24 my mom bought me Elisabeth Hassleback’s G-Free Diet book and told me to read it to see if my symptoms were similar to Elisabeth’s stomach issues she shared in her book.

I rolled my eyes at my mom because I couldn’t imagine becoming gluten free!  BUT, sure enough, my symptoms were the same so I did a trial of being gluten free and I felt amazing! I had energy I hadn’t had, no pains in my stomach, I just felt healthy. Then I tried gluten  on Thanksgiving… SICK as a dog!

From then on, it has been the easiest thing to be gluten free. Knowing the difference that I feel makes it worth it in every way! My advice to anyone else making dietary changes: Don’t look at it as the end of the world, look at it as the beginning of a healthy life! When your body functions the way it needs to be, life is so much better!

img-thing

Lastly, what are you up to now career-wise?  Anything else you’d like to share?

I’ve really been working on promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and trying to spread the word about Gluten Intolerance and Celiac Disease. I’m working on a few projects right now and can’t wait to share soon.  I’ve been exploring some fun things!

I was a correspondent on the Daily 10 on E for a few months, but unfortunately their show was cancelled. I also just recently did a Old Navy Commercial as a dancer! That was so cool! So lots of fun things, several things in the works and I’ll definitely share when I can!!

KIPTEN_20100902161729

If you guys get married can I come to the wedding?

Ok that really wasn’t a question in the interview, but it doesn’t hurt to plant the seed…

Thanks Tenley for the interview and if you ever need someone to punch Jake in the face, you know who to call.

Ya’ll check out Tenley’s website and blog where you can see more pictures, behind-the-scenes info, photo shoots, read more of her story and even check out her fitness, beauty and fashion tips!

B’s lame and doesn’t want to run this weekend. If anybody wants to run as a 27 y/o male and wants to pay $40 rather than $80 email me. Then we can be friends.
