Healthy Living Advice from Snooki

by SkinnyRunner on April 22, 2011

These days, fans would be more likely to catch a glimpse of Jersey Shore star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi working up a sweat at the gym than throwing back drinks at her favorite bars.

"As everyone’s planning their night at the club," she recently Tweeted, "I’m wondering when Gold’s [Gym] closes."

Snooki's Diet Plan: More Gym, Less Clubbing

In fact, for the past few months, the 4’9" reality TV star has been working hard to tone up and lose a few unwanted pounds.

"Two months before season 1 started, I was 100 lbs. and really happy with myself," she told PEOPLE in January. "Then I went on the show and it was like, ‘Oh man. We’re partying all the time, and who wants to go to the gym when you’re on vacation?’ "

At that point, Polizzi told PEOPLE she was working with a trainer and trying to eat healthy foods. She has also been experimenting with Zumba, a dance class, and even showed off her gymnastics skills at WWE Raw.

"I definitely want to get in shape and be healthy again," the reality star, 23, said. "But it’s really hard to eat good when you’re traveling because you see fast food – and you want to go to this restaurant and that restaurant."

Still, "[I have] egg whites in the morning and chicken and salads," she said. "And if you do drink, it’s gotta be clear liquors."

Now, instead of throwing back Long Island Iced Teas or margaritas ("Which are, like, a million calories," she notes), Snooki’s new drink of choice is a lighter option: vodka with seltzer water.

But with her trip to Italy looming (the cast will head overseas soon to film season 4), she knows the temptation to cheat on her fitness regimen will be huge.

"All we’re gonna eat is pasta," she said. "I’m very, very scared – drinking wine and having spaghetti all day [would] throw me off course."

Oh Snooki. Instead of going on a rant on how I think that Jersey Shore is lowering the US’s standards of how to act, and what to watch, I will say, good for her for going to the gym, and setting a good example! She is soooo short though it always surprised me! BUT she seems to be trying to get healthier, instead of stick thin, which is refreshing!

I’m by no means a Snooki fan, but it is a bummer when you’re short. I’m 5’1″ (on a good day) and five pounds on a short body can make a huge difference.

preach it sista! I HATE that part about being short!

I concur. I’m 4’11″, and any little bit of weight gain shows up in the worst places! There’s nowhere that extra weight can go and look good on you…not that it decides to go anywhere but you stomach and/or thighs…ugh!

I love Snooki. I don’re care if she isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

I’m really curious to see how they are going to be in Italy. And where they are going to live.

what? pasta and wine are bad??

(I need both of these things to survive, so I can’t imagine this being a bad thing.)

As much as I’m not a Jersey Shore fan, I have to say go Snooki! Good for her for not caving into fame and the pressures of of turning oneself into a skeleton. The pressures that come with constantly being in the spotlight and under a microscope are not ones that are so easily dealt with.

Awe, good old Snooki…4.9″ huh. It’s hard to know what her ideal weight should even be. Love the label on the picture, slackerland.com Classic! :D

I love snooki! I want her to come and be my friend in real life. Don’t ask me what we’d do together because I certainly don’t party… at all. Who knows, maybe we could work out at the gym together. She cracks me up!

When you’re in Europe you walk ALL the time (at least I did) so it’s hard to gain weight there! If she would just commit to doing 30 mins of cardio everyday it would make a big difference.

Do you wonder if she’s just playing the “snooki” character? On tv she sounds like such a disaster, but interviews she usually sounds normal…

I have nothing to say about her diet/exercise habits, only that I’m excited for the next season!

Snooki’s only 4’9? I knew she was short but I didn’t realize she was that short!

is it just me or are both pairs of shoes she’s wearing noticeably too large for her?

I miss snooki. :-) And, monokinis are rarely a good choice. Rarely. But, good for her for taking charge of her health & getting to the gym. She looks great in her pictures.

I would have to say the worst meal I ever had would the hamburger I cooked for myself in 8th grade and gave myself food poisoning… it didn’t turn out well at all (both in taste and medically)!

Yeah…eating good…has always been tough.
She’s so dumb.

I’m also short, 5’1, and I totally agree with everyone. I can notice if my weight fluctuates even the smallest bit! It sucks!

The first meal that came to mind was a chicken and veggie stirfry I attempted to make on Monday…It was so nasty & tried drenching it in soy sauce but to no avail :-0 Yuck…

I’m 5’1″ so I can relate to how easily it is to just gain 5 pounds and be able to really tell it. Totally stinks!!!!
