I’m made of sugar; I’ll melt. like a grilled cheese.

by SkinnyRunner on February 26, 2011

It’s raining and storming here.  100% chance of rain tomorrow.  You know what else is 100%?  The chance that I’m gonna bail on the 50k trail run if it 100% rains tomorrows.

I’ve ran a marathon in the rain before.

037

I’ve ran a half marathon in the rain before.  But I don’t think I’m ready or willing to run 30 miles on trails in the rain.

I mean, I had to dash from the parking lot to the grocery store tonight and I practically smashed an old lady’s Buick LaSabre window in to grab her handicap sign just so I could park 4 feet closer.

I’m going to get up in less than 6 hours at 5am and see what the weather’s like and decide then.  Toodles!

i’ve been meaning to send you a comment for the past couple of weeks.

i recently discovered Google Reader (I KNOW!?!? WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!?!) and enjoy reading all the blogs I like each morning as I drink my coffee before starting work.

I have to tell you….i save yours for the last. there are a lot of FABULOUS blogs out there that i love, but i always save yours to read last because it’s usually the one i enjoy reading the most. especially love days when i see there are 2 un-read SR posts!!

good luck on your race tomorrow (or, enjoy the day off from running) and keep on posting whatever you’ve been posting!!!! love the variety, the sarcasm, and the pictures.

Sincerely,
Nicole

I wouldn’t run it either. I don’t blame you for not wanting to run in the rain!

I am a huge wimp when it comes to running in the rain. I just hate it. So, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t run that 50k tomorrow.

In the midst of running a relay race, supposed to rain in AZ tomorrow as well, hoping it holds out until my van is done. Good luck if you run your race tomorrow!

I probably would bail on a long race in the rain too, especially if I ran as many races as you. There’s another race just around the corner, right? But I’ll hope for the love of your race recaps, that the heavens open up and God give you a little sunshine. :)

30 miles in the rain sounds miserable! Hopefully it will clear up for you!

I ran my first and only half in the rain and it was craptastic. As a newbie no one warned me that I probably shouldn’t wear elastic waisted capris that would get water logged and want to chill out around my ankles. The last 10 miles holding my pants up was sure super fun. :)

Running in the rain totally stinks and a trail run would be worse. I would be a bailin too :)

“running in the rain brings uncessary pain and isn’t good for the brain!!” haha you like that huh!?! :)

Don’t blame you for not wanting to run 30 miles in rain AND MUD!! I’m sure you’re not the only one that’ll be sayin’ “ummm…NO!!”

My prediction:
1. It will rain
2. You will run the 50k anyway because you’re awesome.
3. You will rock it…also because you are awesome.
GOOD LUCK!

I think I would bail too, running in the rain is no fun and then mix that with mud…umm..no!! As for the cafepress giveaway – I would get a new water bottle for my kiddos and a new coffee thermos for me!

UHM I see blue skies and some sort of sun in LA :)
I hope you ran it!

I woke up to the rain this morning also and learned an important life lesson: Waking up to the pouring rain is a little easier to handle when you always keep the ingredients for mimosas in your fridge!

Since I clearly have my priorities straight, it’s probably no surprise that I would bail on just 3 miles in the rain.

I hope you’re able to do it! Or at least that it stops raining so you don’t have to maim the elderly for their parking passes.

I wouldn’t run 30 miles in rain on trails either. Ugh. Sleep in! Enjoy being dry! It is definitely not overrated!

30 miles of mud and rain would totally ruin your shoes forever!

Good luck if you went and ran! Otherwise good for you for not running in the rain on a TRAIL race! You could slip and twist an ankle!

Good call:) running in the rain on a trail that keeps slipping away:( NO reason to take a chance on an injury!

I remember the last time I ran a half marathon in the rain… it was november and It was freezing and It made me never want to run that half marathon again.

Gah, I’m with you, stay dry and warm if it’s raining 100%.

Ohh goodness, I am NOT a big fan of running in the rain! One track practice, I had mascara all the way down my face. Not cute.

I love running in the rain! However, you couldn’t get me to run 30 miles period let alone in the rain.

Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) February 26, 2011 at 4:01 pm

I ran 4 miles in the rain today and that’s all I could take. Good luck!!

Hmmmm…..still no follow up post. That means you actually did run it, and you’re recovering somewhere (the ER?). Hoping things went well….or as well as can be expected.

Or you just went shopping.
