Better hide the steak knives

by SkinnyRunner on January 23, 2011

If you’re married, you’ll know what I’m talking about.  If you’re not, you’ll think I’m so evil I make Simon Cowell look endearing….

When you’re married, you go through cycles and changing feelings toward your spouse.  Or as a man would say, women are just plain emotionally unstable and crazy.  Crazy like Courtney Love crazy.

Sometimes if your husband wants to go on a cruise, you want him to get a ticket on the Titanic.  If he wants to go hot air ballooning, you want him to hop on the Hindenburg.  If he wants to travel, you hope he books through Amelia Earhart Express.

Basically, you think Lorena Bobbit wasn’t that crazy…

And then there’s other times when you think you’re the luckiest girl in the world that HE picked YOU

Luckily for Jay, I felt that way today and brought home his favorite drink from Starbucks: tall nonfat no water Chai latte.  And no, I didn’t even spike it with anything.

Just to say I love you…  And can I have the credit card?!?

GORGEOUS course.  Full recap to come later today.  Right now I’ve got to go be nice to my husband before I turn evil again and start sharpening the knives….

What’s the last nice thing you’ve done for your significant other or vice versa?

Oh, how right you are. Mark is super lucky because I often go between love boat and Titanic in minutes. Today, though, I was super nice and picked up his favorite blueberry syrup from Cracker Barrel. Three bottles of the sugary stuff, to be exact. I’m awesome.

My husband is super awesome. He lets me beg food off him all the time, even when I swear up and down that I don’t want any.

For my last boyfriend, I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies and surprised him on the day he was finding out from colleges! Let’s just say he loved me, a LOT

LOL! You are so right about that. But its those times when I feel like I need to be less selfish. You are a good wife! Jaybob must be a happy man now. ;)
Great race friend!

I bought him the best lunch ever using my meal plan, and then, he made it up by making an awesome & creative stirfry dinner. Our love revolves around food haha.

I left “I love you” post it all over the house in places he could find on his day off, hoping it would brighten his day. He didn’t really seem to care. Boo.

HAHA this one makes me laugh, so true in so many ways. I spent the entire day cleaning the house while he was at the golf course “working”. I even cleaned his nasty toliet(yes we have different throwns) and didnt think he would even really noticed. When he got home he actually made several comments our nice everything looked and thanked me for slaving over it. Definitely made me happy and kept me from putting super glue on his seat. :)

There were fresh, hot pancakes waiting for The Husband when he got out of the shower this morning…I feed him to show him my love. :)

The Titanic thing is awesome. I definitely have those moments, too…like this morning, when I made the bed and my boyfriend ripped the covers off and got right back in it five minutes later. Even after I bought him beer last night. We keep it classy :)

Congrats on a great time on the half!

What we do for each other is…..I let him go scuba diving and he lets me run races….sometimes the two collide on teh same day and that is when the sharp knives come out…..LOL

I’ll surprise him & make his favorite dessert or dinner, which are fattening and we rarely eat!

Totally understand – actually, with my live-in-boyfriend, the phrase, “If you’re not nice to me I’m going to Lorena Bobbitt your ass” has become a common expression.

On days when we’re nice to each other though, I make breakfast and he makes dinner (and cleans!)

Thanks for telling it like it is! No need to sugar-coat it for the single gals. My husband helped me clean our condo yesterday because we were having guests for dinner. And I didn’t even have to ask, nag, or have a breakdown. It was awesome. He’s the best!

Bought a plane ticket to go visit him in DC next weekend! Spending my savings on long distance love :)

Congrats on the half!

I just drove from Bellingham to Westport to see my BF for about 15 hours before he had to leave for fishing again. 8 hours of driving because I am a really awesome GF. :)

Hmmm good question. I just had a baby and am kind of (sleep deprived-induced) crazy evil right now. Must work on it.

Would love if you’d share what brand/style your running tank is. Need some new stuff to wear while I get rid of the last fee baby lbs!

Good job on your half. You manage to look great after working out.. I hate you! ;)

I made coffee for us this morning, does that count as my nice thing?? ;)

It was a beautiful course and day. I was a little worried about the wind – they had forecast 12-13 mph winds starting at 4am but they never came, thankfully. I ended up 1:48:3-something. I consider it a PR because the 1:47:18 in St George 2000 ft elevation loss still feels like cheating.

I know exactly what you mean. I think the nicest thing I’ve done lately is cook meat even though I have no idea what I’m doing and find it kind of revolting. He periodically checks the basement for mice. It’s a give and take. How sad are we? lol

When my alarm didn’t go off the other morning, my hubby got up with the kids, got them ready, and took them to school. Nobody came in to wake me up. It was such a wonderful surprise even though I was pretty freaked out when I woke up and saw the time.

I’m always picking up little things at the store that he mentioned he would like but didn’t think I’d remember. Plus, I make him breakfast every morning on the weekend and dinner every night. I think those things should count a lot.

nicest thing he’s done? VACUUM for me. I hate vacuuming and moping and he did that for me. LOVE. Nicest thing I’ve done for him? put up with him.
