Get some clothes on: date night

by SkinnyRunner on October 30, 2010

WORKOUT – Ran outside 11.0 miles/1:29

This was a tough run; I had to stop a few times to catch my breath and I didn’t really get in the groove until the end.  Oh well, 11 tough ones beats 0 easy ones.

You guys said you wanted to see more of the Get some clothes on! segment so here goes:

Last night my Man and I went on a date.  He had to ask me out a couple times; I kept turning him down.  Gotta play hard to get, you know.

Pretty much everything came courtesy of my mom.  She just sent me the jacket, top and leggings, all of which came from Costco.  The brand of the leggings and top is Matty M which is sometimes sold at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, and the jacket is Calvin Klein.  I’m not sure how much each was, but it probably pretty reasonable at the ‘ol Costker.

011

I was going to wear some high heels, but then thought that walking in the dark in a haunted house in 5.5 inch heels would be scarier than the actual house so I went with some Tahari wedges.

I had bought tickets through Groupon for a haunted house at the Anaheim Garden Walk so we decided to eat dinner there beforehand.

If you’re ever in the area, I’d recommend checking out the Garden Walk; it’s a new upscale outdoor mall with restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.  It’s super clean , not crowded and really cute looking too.

021

We saw Fire + Ice and decided to try it not knowing what it was.  Ended up being a good choice.

Fire +Ice is an all-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ on steroids.  Not only is there the traditional stir fry, you can have hamburgers, cheesesteaks, hot dogs, chicken parmesan, basically anything you can concoct, grilled on their hibachi grill.  And you choose the sauce and flavorings, and they had a ton.

015

We sat outside by the fire pit; this thing put off some major heat.  Good thing it was date night because it was getting all hot and steamy out there.

014

We started off with the salad bar; my manly monster salad destroyed the husband’s girly little one.

I had a $5 chocolate martini that wasn’t really that good.  I didn’t even finish it, shoulda skipped that one and kept my money.

The man had 2 different bowls: a chicken, broccoli, noodles, teriyaki bowl and then a Tex Mex Fajita bowl with chicken, green peppers, and onions which was by far, the best of the night.  They also bring out tortillas or rice if you want for your stir fry and fajitas.

017

019

I went for a ton of vegetables (my bowl was twice as large as his), Mahi mahi, and teriyaki sauce.  Mine was good but the Tex Mex sauce that he had was better.

022

After dinner we sat by the fire pit for awhile which was super relaxing.  I wanted to curl up and take a nap since it was nearly my bedtime, 8:30 and all…

Each dinner was $15.95 which isn’t bad for a fresh, all-you-can-eat dinner.  Plus, it was fun to go all Emeril Lagassi and create your own concoctions.

023

The husband really put the moves on me by going to Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory for dessert; I love candy stores like this.  And always end up spending way too much money…

But this time we actually came home with some candy, and it still hasn’t been eaten! Normally by the time we step out of the store, it’s gone.

024

And then we topped off the night by going to the haunted house The Empty Grave.  Through Groupon I bought 2 tickets for $14, which was a good deal since tickets are normally $15 each.

But it was a pretty crappy haunted house.  I don’t know if it was even worth $7.  I mean, I didn’t even peepee my pants… at all. But date night was fun, clean chonies or not.

What did you do on your last date night?  And please don’t tell me you made a baby.

SR – you and your hubster are cute as buttons!! Looks like a fun night even though the haunted house was a bust. Great outfit that your mom sent – I’m gonna have to check that out at our Costco!! The top is great! Could never pull off the leggings like you do. :-) Look forward to possibly meeting you in Vegas for R&R (I’m doing the 1/2). Have a super spooky weekend! :-)

I went to Fire + Ice in Lake Tahoe a few years ago and loved it. All you can eat is the best :) Last date night I made dinner!! Didn’t have to pay for it, which is always nice!

Came home from work to my husband pulling homemade cheesecake out of the oven. It turned out great, but don’t be fooled, he cooks maybe once a year. We headed to dinner with a friend and came back to our place for dessert. Pretty fun date night.

Your mom has great taste! I always got ’80s prom dresses and tapered jeans from Wally World.

For our last date night, I think we got super sassy and went to Red Lobster. He even took me to get cherry pie afterward. I’d call it romantic but today’s outing of Panera and shoe shopping, albiet not a date, was way better.

Love date nights! My husband and I have a weekly date night that we’ve done since before we got married. It used to be on Monday nights but now it’s on Fridays and unfortunately, we’re exhausted by then to do anything too exciting. So last night, I made us salmon cakes for dinner (with a side salad) and we watched several episodes of “All Creatures Great and Small” – not exciting but we love just getting to spend time together. PS – we just moved into our house so our date nights for a while will be very cheap!

That looks like so much fun. My boyfriend and I try and have at least one date night a week and cook together at least once or twice but in college it’s so much more difficult eek.

Our last date night we went out for pizza at this new local pizzeria, not knowing that their pizzas only come in ONE size. GIGANTIC. We will be eating pizza leftovers for DAYS!

Glad you checked out Garden Walk, we are in the area often but don’t go there that much because it’s always pack on weekends. Last time we ate at Cheesecake Factory and waited 2+ hours (we had a group of 20+), I tell ya, the free bread they served you was the best bread ever that night.

Thanks for the review on the haunted house, will keep that in mind for next year.

The fiance loves all things horror and like watching people get scared, so 2 years in a row now, we went to Knott’s Scary Farm and Universal Horror Nights.

Horror Nights is the best of all Halloween mazes I’ve been too. They use real movie sets so it’s done well and professional. Knott’s, I’ll give a C…it’s fun but looks homemade.

I definitely think it should be an age cut off.. because even if you’ve got a great body you don’t want to be “that mom” who is wearing a Dorothy outfit showing her butt, right?

That’s just my opinion.. but while you’re young live it up! Then in your older years.. make the costumes more intricate and fun and less nekkid and flashy :)

Sounds like a fun night! We went tailgating and to the World Series game! Can’t beat ballpark hotdogs and beer! :)

I think our last date night (which we don’t have too many of because of this ridiculous span of unemployment) was at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana. Pete Yorn concert in Sept. I was like 15 feet from him – pretty cool venue.
