On the drive home from Phoenix to Southern California, this is what I saw:
And then I saw some of this:
And then when I looked in the mirror, I saw this:
In Quartzsite, AZ, we stopped for gas and I saw a jerky/nut/dired fruit stand and I had to do some damage:
Beef jerky, dried kiwi, honey roasted alomnds, candied ginger, dried papaya and “fruit salad” gummi candies. Everything was good (I wish I would have spent my whole fishing paycheck on the candied ginger, so dang good) except for the kiwi. They had a weird aftertaste, like a little fishy or something. Is that normal? I’d never had dried kiwi and probably should have gone with the mango. ohs wells.
And then when we got home I saw this:
I’m getting kinda excited about that little race.
Hey, you wanna see a new Cat lady Blogs!?
Today’s featured blogger is a departure from the normal food/running blogs, it’s Anna from the thrifty stylist!
I have blogged for about 5 years and I started while living in Canada, as I am originally from Sweden, I thought it would be fun for family and friends to read about my life. Now, I live in California and I blog about life, fashion, food and such from sunny Bay Area!
I run 4 miles every day with my jogging stroller and daughter Stella in it. I am 10 lbs away from my pre preggo weight, a loooooooong road back from my 50 that I gained and I can’t wait to be back to the start weight.
Attached is a pic of Stella and I on the beach and she is showing her California Gurlz spirit!
I have some Swedish (and Finnish and Norwegian) blood, so Anna and I are practically sisters. So go stop by Anna’s blog, say hi and tell her that her sister sent you!

your dog is very very sneaky. BTW I hate dried fruit…cause it’s so yummy. You think you are eating “healthy” but then you realize the whole bag is gone by the time you look down.

Ok. couldn’t resist opening my mouth on this one. To discuss Marni. The first picture with your husb.? I want to bite her little tongue with my teeth and stretch it angrily like it’s silly putty.
And the one with her nestled on your shoulder. I…I want to…I don’t even have words.
Freakin’ ADORABLE.

I ran NYC last year! It was my favorite marathon yet! You’ll have a blast. Great weather and great course!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON 1,000 MILES!!!!

My first comment – woo! Is there anything better than a Yorkie? And that little thing they do with their tongue, when just the tip pokes out? I also love watching all of my big hulking 6 foot something men fawning over my little cavalier king charles spaniel….

I was chewing on some dried ginger when I read this. I would say that’s a coincidence, but I eat dried ginger as much as possible, so really, it’s not so weird…

Your little Yorkie is adorable!!! I LOVE little dogs, they are so precious and snuggly!
Although my b/f and I adopted a german shepherd, I will get my little dog fix one of these days!

Dang, I was thinking that kiwi would be good. Hmmmmm. Love candied ginger too. I use to be a beef jerkyaholic. BAD! But no more jerky for me. I miss it. lol

aw what a sweet puppy!

Marni is so cute with you hubby! Does he spoil her rotten when you are gone fishing or what??
The dried fruit looks amazeballs. I like dried fruit but I can’t stop thus I can’t even eat it. No control!
Happy Friday

Awww. My dog Peanut whines the entire ride unless she can sit in my lap with her head on my arm to look out the window. Our other pupper Leo likes to inhabit Hunni’s lap or the entire back seat by himself fully stretched out.

I LOVE MARNI!!!!!

So cute! I want a puppy so bad. I don’t know why I think about getting one so much.. I should just do it.

dude – my cat sits on my shoulders like marni when we drive with her. (more evidence that you need to stop your absolutist cat hater-ness…at least for mine)
i wanted to comment bout my cep socks that i got last month. i bought the trekking socks for my 13er hike that ended up being cancelled due to wildfires. so i never wore em for hiking. but i did a longer run last night and my calves are crazy sore so i thought i’d wear my socks to work…holy crap! i’m sold on these suckers. within an hour it was sooo much more easy to walk and i had at least half as much pain. and it’s not just cuz i’ve been up moving around – i’m one of those that pretty much always has tight calves. now i want to compress everything!! hmmm….butt compression…

okay, i HATE little dogs, but Marni kind of changes my mind. my grandfather has a chihuaua (what a weird old man dog, right?!) and it freaks me out. i’m always scared i’m going to sneeze too hard and it’s going to fly out the window and i’ll forever be the worst granddaughter ever. but Marni’s cute. i approve haha.

I am IN LOVE with Marnie. I have a Morkie named Ninja. I think they should date.
July 30, 2010 at 11:45 AM
I was thinking the kiwi looked totally delicious before I read that it was less than stellar. What a bummer…
July 30, 2010 at 1:15 PM
I didn’t even see Marnie on your shoulder the first time I looked! What a sweetie!
July 30, 2010 at 1:28 PM
always go with your gut on the mango, lady!
i am intrigued with the kiwi now though…fishy taste and all…

So stinking cute!

You can’t go wrong with Lucy. Everything Lucy I own, I love. My absolute favorite are a pair of capris that they don’t make anymore. But I also love their tanks and I have another pair of capris that I wear when I run errands or fly places–they are super comfy but still look good. One tip–never buy anything full price. Sign up for their emails and they will constantly email you a 20% off coupon.

I love the pics of Marni. My little boy likes to sit on my shoulders in the car too-crazy pups!
