Hotel gyms

WORKOUT – Elliptical 30 mins + couple abs on ball

Like I said earlier, we stayed at the Hotel Adolphus because it was the race headquarters hotel and very close to the start.

It was old but kinda grand looking and nice enough.

Our room was really big; it had a sitting room with a desk, fridge, all that.

The Adolphus is a historic hotel so it definitely has that old English, Victorian feel.  Jaybob is way more modern and probably would have liked to stay at the W, but the Adolph was a great location and not too uber expensive.

The hotel was built in 1912 by Adolphus Busch, the Missouri beer baron of Anheuser-Busch.

The hotel gym however, wasn’t that cool.  All the machines were old and there were about 4 30lb hand weights.

The treadmills looked like they were originals, from 1912.

So I did a little ellipticalling and then a couple minutes of ab moves on a ball.

I haven’t done ab work on a ball in forever, and I couldn’t do much before I thought I was going to die.  Note to self: must work core more often.

1 rep, 2 rep, and….. I’m dying.

We’re now at the airport headed back home.

Question: what hotel have you stayed in that had a nice fitness center/gym in it?

I’ve never stayed at a hotel with a REALLY NICE fitness center/gym but full Marriotts usually have great, new/modern equipment with TV’s, a plethora of towels & water, and while the centers are small- there is rarely anyone else in there!

The Embassy Suites at North Myrtle Beach has an awesome fitness center that comes with your reservation – has tennis courts, racquetball courts, indoor pools, weight room, cardio room, aerobics, you name it!

David and I were not that impressed with our room ( stayed there too ). It was big but I guess we wanted the furniture to match the lobby and restaurant, which were breathtaking.

We could see light from the hallway through our door at night. Then the girl across the hall from us brought her date there and I guess he passed out so I listened to “get up” “bobby get up” then her slapping him then her yelling at him then she cried. This was from 2-4am. I had to call security.

I posted my pics from the r&r website…I know cheesy but I’m not going to buy all of them because their prices are super crazy.

check them out when you have a chance

Thankfully my company always has us book at W hotels and they by far have had the nicest gym facilities. New equipment and everything you could ask for.

Haha – when I was in Paris, the hotel didn’t have a gym and was in a bad neighborhood, so my friend and I would run up and down the hotel stairs again…and again…and again. Funnnn!

I don’t think I have ever stayed at a place with an amazing gym, but the Aloft hotels have pretty nice ones.

When I was in cabo for our honeymoon the hotel gym was located at their spa. It had great equipment for a hotel gym and the view of the ocean was amazing.

The Westin Moana Surfrider and the Sheraton in Waikiki both have great gyms. Moana has a view out on to the strip. You’d think they would have had a view of the beach, but no sadly.

Lexington City Square Sports Club in Phoenix,AZ It is a Hotel & Sports Club…….actually worked there many moons ago. So, if you are into Basketball, that would be a great place to see some Suns basketball players :) and or if you rather hang with sexy peps with sexy accents from all over the world & you’re into Racquetball…. the International Racquetball Association holds world wide competition there.

How….quaint :) I have the weakest core known to man. Every time I try to do ab work I quit after like 5 because it hurts too much…which is probably why I have the weakest core known to man. Hoping “Insanity” will fix that!

Just found your blog through another I follow. Love it! I am staying at the Palmer Hilton in Chicago as we speak, and despite being a grand OLD hotel, the gym rocks!

Thanks!
