Margaritaville

by SkinnyRunner on March 10, 2010

WORKOUT - Ran at DP Harbor 1 hr 32 mins/11.6 miles

This run felt really good, I don’t even know why but I think I’m about ready for a PR this weekend.  Porfa please??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I came home and decided to make a smoothie with my bombastic Margaritaville machine.
Vitamix, go on and grind walnuts and cinder blocks all you want, I can make kick bootay margaritas. Vita what?!?
Because you’re dying to know what’s in it, I’ll tell you:
~1 banana
~1/4 avocado
~1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
~1/2 cup 0% Fage
~1 cup lite vanilla soy milk
~2 T flaxseeds
~3 cups spinach
~cinnamon and splenda
It made 2 large cups.  I even calculated out the nutritionals for the whole thing:
445 calories, 15 grams of fat, 35 grams of protein
Ok I feel way too healthy now and need to go do something like this:
ok so i’m down for the standard plain yogurt, berries, protein powder smoothie…but the spinach and avocado are things i’ve not yet been brave enough to attempt. how do you know what portions to add and to what flavors?
you cant even taste either of them. the avo maybe makes it a little thicker or creamier. but i put 3 cups of spinach and couldnt even taste it. of course i also added 3/4 of a bag of splenda…..
ive used cooked spinach in other things like brownies and tacos and such…so i believe you that you can’t taste it. i just never thought it could go into a beverage, esp raw. but i will try it.
what do i tell my veg-hesitant hubby is making the smoothie green?
I dont mind spinach in smoothies but for whatever reason am scared to try avocado! Your smoothie looks great though.
I have to say your smoothie combo sounds less than appetizing, but I guess if it keeps you full and since it’s obviously healthy, I guess it’s doing its job.
Kudos to you for keepin’ it down!
If you replaced the avocado and spinach with three shots of tequila, I’d call it good.
