Running Tuesday!

by SkinnyRunner on March 9, 2010

WORKOUT – 1 hr 47 mins/13.5 miles

It’s that day again, Running Tuesday! where you get to brag about your workout today or even yesterday if you want.  So own it, put a ‘lil swagger in your step and be proud and loud of what you did!

Last week was lame; this week will not be.  So everyone better participate and join in the party.  In the immortal words of the wise Kim Zolciak, “Don’t be tardy to the party!”

This run was from yesterday along Santa Barbara’s coastline.

I started in front of the Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel.

The Biltmore wall.  It was a gorgeous day, 60 degrees out and sunny.  I love running here.

I ran by the Santa Barbara Cemetery.

I took a self-portrait in front of the cemetery.

I ran by the bird sanctuary.

I ran by the Santa Barbara Zoo.

I acted like I should be admitted to the Zoo.

I ran by the Fess Parker Double Tree.

I ran down this lovely, widely paved bike path.  One of the reasons I love to run in SB, besides the weather and beach, is because it’s a very runner and biker friendly town.

I ran by the pier.

And the boat harbor.

Going in for a kiss with the camera.

I ran by Shoreline Park up on the Mesa.

And thought I’d take wilderness pictures in the park.

And then it started to get strange…

Now you can see why I became a runner. and not a ballerina.

It was a great run; Santa Barbara is one of my top favorite places to run.

So, do tell about your run/workout/whatever!

Barely any running for me this morning! Two miles easy before my hour long spin class (aka, torture on a bike resulting in losing 5 lbs of sweat!).

Gearing up for my first 1/2 at the end of the month, so after Saturday’s 9-miler (8:19 pace), I’m tackling a 6-miler at lunch today. It’s a fairly hilly route, so I’m hoping to get as close to 8:00 pace as possible, but I’m not holding my breath.

Spring is here in NC, so I am very excited about today’s run!

Beautiful pictures!! And I thought we had a nice day here today – it’s going to be in the 40s, and sunny, woo-hoo! Spring is coming!

I’m doing an easy run today because I am doing speedwork tomorrow. 3-4 miles at lunch. Can’t wait. A couple little hills but nothing intense.

I’ve been trying to incorporate some strength training lately but it’s not really doing it for me…I just don’t really like it. Do you do any weights or anything?

i visit every single day. and other than asking about your bump, i have been keeping quiet because i have been a shamed workouter. but i got back into my routine on sunday. so i am participating today. word.
i did about 4 miles on what i like to call the “running in mud machine” because that’s what it feels like. you know. like an elliptical, but the feet thingys aren’t on a track, they are free moving. whatevs- i am super scientific and such, i know. i am just getting back so it kicked my expanding behind. but i did it. and next tuesday will be better. :)

You are so lucky to have such nice scenery to run in! I’m stuck with flat land and tumbleweeds! ha!

Ange March 9, 2010 at 8:43 am

Wow – what a beautiful run!
I’m heading to the gym right now to do the stairmonster indoors and will be dreaming of sun the whole time.
Then a little upper body weight circuit…indoors again. I need to move!

Aw, that run along the beach bike path in Santa Barbara is great. I LOVE running there. Have you ever run in mission canyon? Running Tuesday for me will involve about 5 miles in the late afternoon.

RunningBlonde March 9, 2010 at 8:55 am

I would run 10 miles everyday as well if I had that beautiful scenery to run in. I have houses and driveways to run by, oh! and cotton fields if I go out to the country. But, then people get hit by redneck pick-ups, so I don’t do that. So, it’s driveways and house after house for me. Lucky you! And, you look cute acting all funny for us!

last hill workout before Dallas RnR was done last night…i opted for treadmill training instead of actual ‘hills’ and lets face it my hill workout on the treadmill was WAY harder than the ‘hills’ of Houston…

today is easy running of 3 miles and massive weights!

I woke up at 5 this morning to go out and run 4 miles. I can’t workout after work so it was my only time to get my run in. It wasn’t NEAR as pretty as your beautiful scenery!

Sarah March 9, 2010 at 9:11 am

WOW I wish I had the amazing running scenery that you have! I can cruise over to Santa Cruz on the weekends, but weekdays it is NOT that great.

Today = 4 mile run on the schedule!

Ahh I’m going to Santa Barbara next week over spring break, I can’t wait to run there! I’m training for my first half, are there any specific trails/paths you recommend? These pictures are gorgeous!

Jealousy at how insanely gorgeous your run looks. I did a very measly 3km on the treadmill last night (I am only just starting to run at all) xx

I run 5.5 miles with 4 fabulous women every Tuesday and Friday morning, so I love Running Tuesday! I’m new to running with a group, but I’m a big fan because it’s good conversation and switches up my routine.

I have a 14 miler planned for this afternoon… my longest run to date! I have to run it today instead of Saturday morning because I am going to DC to visit my bff! Whoop!

Stephanie March 9, 2010 at 10:27 am

5 mile tempo last night- I have a 10k in about 10 days so I am hoping to get some speed back after solely focusing on distance recently.

Crazy weights and spinning this AM for XT day.

I am so jealous of your scenery, FL runs look nothing like that!

aww! i used to run on cabrillo by dbl tree…good times. once found a sick pelican. somehow always forgot about that water hazard in the beach when i ran the sand.
i miss sb. at least tucson is almost exactly like it.

I’m so jealous of your run, I’m anxious for warmer weather without snow. Although it is melting quickly in Michigan. I ran 3 miles with the dog last night, dropped him off at home and ran 2 fast miles without having to stop pee at every tree/rock/etc (the dog’s doing, not me, I prefer to pee inside). Wasn’t feeling a run this morning but got 2 miles in on the treadmill, then 40 mins on the elliptical.

Reply

Jenni March 9, 2010 at 11:37 am

Dude, that is SO not fair! I would kill for some flat trails along the beach! Well, at least it is sunny here today after a torrential downpour yesterday. Due to a severe shin splint in the right leg, I have laid off running for 4 days. Today is supposed to be a 4-miler on the trails but I have to see how it goes. Hoping for pain-free! Oh, I got my knickers in the mail and they are sweet. That Running Warehouse is hella cool.

Those pictures are great! We’re on our third straight day of sunshine in VA, so I’m pumped about that!
I ran a little over 10 with one of my best friends who just ran a 2:56 marathon in the fall…we did the first 5 at an 8:10 pace, then bumped it up for the last 5, 6:50 average for me and 6:20 for her. such a humbling experience haha

I love your blog! My running buddy and I did 3 miles on an indoor track this morning – too cold and dark for me to go outside just yet.

No running for moi. Taper week before my first ultra-marathon on Saturday. Eek! Santa Barbara is gorgeous. Sad to say I live in CA and have never been there. :( You should add the Lake Tahoe Marathon or better yet, the Half Marathon. It was by far the most beautiful half I have ever done and quite challenging!

welll if you pull my leg I’ll brag, I mean share. I ran 7.6 hilly, sweaty miles today. Feels soooo good that it’s finally becoming nice enough out that all I need is shorts and a t! Love it!!

I recieved my Chocomize bar last night and consumed most of it! Inhaling that amount of calories should have warrented your mileage, but I only ran 5. Oh well, it was worth it!

Six miles. Slow. Cramps.

I did 3.1 on the treadmill this morning. With such gorgeous weather in NY, truly a rarity this time of year, I might do another 2 miles after work.

I love Running Tuesdays!

11 minute warm up
6x 1000m at 7:08 pace
0.75 mile cool down

First time running 1000m repeats. It was interesting.

I’ve been running, following no sort of set plan, in order to work up to half marathon distance. And I ran the whole 13.1 miles on Sunday as New Jersey had a rare warm day. Beyond excited!! Planning to get a shorter run in today as well. Running is Funning.

Whew…aren’t you hot? It’s 60 degrees and you aren’t wearing a tank and shorts? I’d die.

Unfortunately my running days are at a hault. I’ve started by 3rd cycle of IVF. But I did get in a 3 mile walk this am.
Thanks for the the running encouragements. I’ll still keep checking out your blog but no running for I hoping 9 months

marathonmaiden March 9, 2010 at 3:04 pm

i love your self-portrait-y pics :)

i think i got a taste of your nice weather today. it was just amazing out!

3.8 mile warmup
1.14-2.28-2.28-1.14 miles (the weird numbers are because i don’t have access to a track so i do laps of my campus) with .5 and 1.1 miles recovery
3.8 mile warmdown

total: 17.6 miles. woot! it feels so good. especially since it was all outside :)

Moon March 9, 2010 at 3:29 pm

Ran a tempo 4 miles! Getting ready to taper for my half on March 27. Nice 70 degree weather–finally!

Such a beautiful area to run!

Somehow Tuesday always ends up a rest day for me even though I never plan for it to. I ran yesterday and will run tomorrow. I’m on week 8 of C25K and can’t wait until I can increase my distance. I should be proud of running almost 3 miles so far since I couldn’t even run a mile a couple months ago, but I want to start increasing my weekly mileage and working on my pace. All in good time…

Reply

amy March 9, 2010 at 5:31 pm

doing P90X daily – inside with two friends – this begins week 5. I no longer think I might die. Leave for Cancun in 10 days. running again when it warms up more

melissa March 9, 2010 at 5:54 pm

Love your blog…always jealous of your endurance and speed. ran 2 on the treadmill (cause i thought the rain was headed my way) looked outside and it was still clear so headed outdoors for the final 6. i typically run for time not mileage, but obviously like an idea of mileage since the Music City Marathon is looming.

Cute running capri tights! Are those Nike? I haven’t seen the teal ones before!

I didn’t run the past few days, but I ran 12.4 this weekend! I’m planning a 6 miler tonight!

I ran last week while I was in LA… OMG I loved it! I ran along the coast in Malibu. I wish I could do that everyday!

4 beautiful miles, outside in the dreary, windy weather that is central IL right now. At least it was a comfy 45*! I will take windy and rainy and 45* over sunny and 2* anyday! But the outside running is starting again and I couldn’t be happier!

I am jealous of your great run! And your scenery, and your weather…..

Reply

Dennis March 9, 2010 at 7:25 pm

I pounded out 3 miles this morning at a pretty good pace. Nice early morning run.

Since the weather has just started to get nice here, I took major advantage. From Friday-Monday, I ran 13 miles total. I also took a hip hop class last night and Zumba today. I wish I had scenery that looks like yours!!!
