Anna Wintour is so jealous of me

by SkinnyRunner on March 4, 2010

WORKOUT – Elliptical ~ 65 mins

After being uber preachy preachy about stretching and injury prevention, it came back to bite me in the buns.  Literally: my right thutt started to have a little pain in it yesterday after my 10 miler.

So I’m going to take a couple days off from running and cross train instead and also keep up with icing/stretching routine.  I have 3 races in a row starting next weekend so my thutt’s gonna get more lovin’ attention than Justin Bieber at a Tiger Beat convention.

Yesterday I showed you my Marathon Maniac singlet/tank that I got in the mail.  Well, I decided that it’s so horrendously ugly that it was begging me to make the most heinous workout outfit out of it:

Oh yes.  Those are $11 compression socks from Walmart.  Jay calls them my grandpa socks.  I call him grandpa so I think we’re even.

This is like a stop sign threw up on the McDonald’s sign.

Never fear, I didn’t leave the safety of my home in that.  Instead I went with this to the gym: (because let’s face it, we’re in SoCal where you aren’t even allowed in the gym unless you’re wearing Prada sneakers or at the very least, a Gucci gym bag)

I’m very partial to Nike Tempo running shorts, as in I don’t even associate with people who don’t wear them, but my older brother and SIL Niki gave me these Under Armour shorts for Christmas, and I’m digging them.  They run smaller and shorter than the Tempos so you can’t dookie your pants and get away with it, but they’re still pretty rad.

In a futile attempt to dethrone Marissa Miller as the hottest model ever, I tried to show off my modeling pose but ended up looking like I have spinal bifida.

I will announce the winner of the chocolate giveaway in the next post so if you haven’t entered it, you better.

Although I firmly believe in buying friends, love, and blogger viewership, I don’t plan on having many giveaways up in this joint so this is your one chance!

Hey I also get the ‘thutt’ syndrome only on my right side. I’ve taken literally about 2 years off of high-mileage running due to other health stuff but now I’m getting back into it and slowly building. I am focusing on a lot of strength training and injury prevention. I did all of these hip exercises today and I plan to do them on the in between days before my runs. They are from Runner’s World, you might want to try them..http://www.runnersworld.com/video/1,8052,s6-6-0-2,00.html?bcpid=2884340001&bclid=1504353735&bctid=64041958001.

Also if you have any tips to get rid of shin splints, I would love to hear them! I ran for years and years, ran a gazillion miles, ran a marathon and no shin splints. Then for whatever reason I pushed my distance too far, too fast two summers ago and I’ve had on and off shin splints since then…wtf..

Wow, that pair of red/orange shorts actually matches that Marathon Manics singlet very well! I love UA shorts but I am too poor to buy them. I get my Nike stuff from the outlets.

Speedy recovery on your strain!

I actually used “thutt” in a conversation with my boyfriend and he was like “what the hell is a thutt?!”
Girl, you look great no matter what you wear! Even that crazy first outfit.

Took me a minute, but I finally got the “thutt” thing. Hope I don’t get a pain in mine after the 10 I do Sat. Might it be a 10 mile thing?!

LOL…love the “McDonald’s” outfit. The next time you run i really think you should wear it. It serves another purpose other than wearing clothes while running, it will prevent you from any accidents because people will be able to see you! It’s like wearing reflectors without the reflectors :)

Sarah, you are so beautiful – I swear you can wear anything you want. I am seriously bummed about not winning the choco gc, but I will get over it. ;-) plus, my 20-year high school reunion is next month so I need to do a little more running and a lot less chocomizing. Have a great day and thanks for making me laugh everyday!

I love the compression socks! I have a question though, does the footing have padding or is it all thin nylon? I love wearing socks with running shorts. I may wear some winter knee high socks with shorts for the Dallas R & R. Taking capri’s just in case the cold is not bearable though.
