Sun Valley PICTURES

by SkinnyRunner on February 11, 2010

Here’s a little photo essay from our ski vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho:

The house we stayed at was really nice; it had heated floors, a steam shower, a ping pong table, basically all the necessities.

The first day we were there, we were all ready to get outside and board.

My little brother Matti, who strangely looks a little like a vampire in this picture, my older brother B and moi.  Periwinkle Pategonia is where it’s at.

Sun Valley is a decent mountain.   It’s kinda small and ticket prices for a full day are $80 which is definitely on the steep side.  But the weather was beautiful: cold and sunny the whole time, although there wasn’t a whole lot of snow.  (They were at 50% of normal snow levels)

Matti and Jammi Jay gearing up to go.

We obviously do photo shoots before we hit the slopes…

“Sorry big K, you can’t go.  You’re only two”.

(It looks like my dad’s singing a capella to my nephew)

“Well fine then!  I’ll just go shovel the driveway while you guys are having all the fun.”

“And then maybe I’ll play the piano in my snowsuit just because I feel like it!”

After a day of boarding we horsed around. literally.  or caribou’ed around.

A lot of ping pong games were played, and I’m pretty sure I lost every single one.

Instead of getting in on the pong action, K went back to tickle the ivory and work on his concerto in D minor.  It’s really similar to the theme song on SpongeBob SquarePants so I’m hoping he doesn’t get involved in a nasty copyrighting lawsuit.

My sis-in-law Niki is pregnant with their 2nd child.  She’s a pretty good sport to put up with my brother.  If I were her, I’d try to sell him in a Chinese open air market.  I mean, look at him:

Just kidding, he’s a really great guy. most of the time…  with obviously great fashion taste.  Sorry ladies, he’s taken, tights and all.

Those are Under Armour cold weather tights by the way, if you’re interested in picking up a pair.  or hiding your legs.

Big K staged his last attempt at going snowboarding by putting on my boots.  Personally, I think they really complement his sports pajamas and thin out the legs.

Like any true American would, we watched the Super Bowl to see if Doritos or Budweiser would have the best commercial.

I think B’s voting for Doritos and Niki’s giving him the big whatever.

Good times although Marni was going for the Red Sox!?!  Sometimes she just doesn’t get sports at all…

I have a few more pictures for next post so grab your caribou and saddle up!

I think that your slopes had 50% of its snow missing because it was all being dumped on us here in the Washington DC metro area. UHG! I wish you could have had it instead!

p.s. you and your brothers all have the prettiest blue eyes!

was byron a ballerina at some point – cuz his turnout is really nice. he reads this right?
this house reminds me of my bf’s parents house in t-ride where lift tix are approaching $100. makes $80 seem not AS bad.
no, wait, they’re both bad.

Too funny. That is a pretty sweet lodge you are in. How hard is snowboarding to pick up? I’ve never tried. I can ski…okay.

P.S. Ping-Pong rocks!!

I love little Marni. :) Do you take her on all your trips? Ever flown with her before?

I take my Spencer as often as possible…even though he is thisclose to not fitting in his Sherpa bag for air travel. :)
