Fashion Faux Pas or Fashion Fo Sho??

by SkinnyRunner on February 10, 2010

We are currently on our long car ride home after nearly a week of vacay in Sun Valley, Idaho.  We had a wonderful vacation, but now it’s time to get back to jobs, reality, and The Real Housewives of Orange County.

So on to more pressing subjects, what do you think about these jeweled and bedazzled sports bras from BodyRock SportHot Dang! or Dang, girl you need some help!?

I’m a sucker for a leopard print (Peta don’t hate me too much, but the last time I went to the zoo I really wanted to take the leopard home… in a size 8 stiletto) and I do like this black and white one with the red swarovski crystals on it.  I think it has potential to be cute, but I don’t think I’d ever use the front pocket.

Some of the styles have ipod holders on the front of them and zippers to get them on and off easily.  Some styles have metal studs and others have swarovski crystals.  I read some reviews and everyone said they were very comfortable and did their job well.

Only problem is that these sports bras range from $70-$94.  Yeah, $94 for a chest compressor.  um, no thanks.

**So what do you think?  Fabulous or ghetto fabulous?  Way too Jersey Shore for you or right up your alley?  If they were normally priced, would you buy one?

I want tassels on my sports bra.

Nope, don’t love them. I’m sure there are lots that would though so they will sell like hotcakes :)

Err…upon first look, I imagined these would be worn not by runners but by someone who would wear it as an actual top..on their way to be nominated for What Not to Wear. I didn’t know I needed to have easy access zippers on my sports bras either…

If there is a woman who call pull those off out there..go for it! I don’t think I could quite pull that off!

Some of them are kinda cute…I’d consider them if they weren’t so damn expensive.

That first one that’s super low cut, though? Aw hell naw! Trashy.

I agree with you on the zebra print – that one isn’t too bad…the rest are pretty ghetto fabulous. Also, I would never pay that price for a sports bra. I like the $16 Champion sports bras from Target and even then I try to buy them when they are on sale. haha

I don’t really do patterns period. Not while running at least. If I have to worry about the sparkler on my bra catching the attention of a rapist or heaven forbid, catching a ray of light and blinding me in the process …

Ayiyi. Those need to be paired with pleather pants. And then not let out of a strip club…

I think that they are too “wild” and too jersy shore for me, In my opinion, anything that I feel like they would wear, I would rather not wear!

hmmm, If I ever ran or worked out in just my sports bra like I see some girls do then I might consider it just from a pure campiness aspect…but I always have on a tank or some other shirt over it, not confident enough with the ol’ abs I guess so it would be a waste. I’d rather spend the money on cute real lingerie. Can’t see my fiance being excited over this…

Sorry, I’m going to have to say they’re just ugly unless you’re running a marathon in New Jersey are a trailer park.

Ooo, I have a friend that works in a (the?) ski resort in Sun Valley!
Anyhoo, I could do the black or camo one (and by do, I mean wear, not “make look fabulous”) but the rest not so much.
I think you could pull of the zebra print though with the blonde, tanned, buff thing you have going on. :)

Ghetto fabulous! The zipper down the front would be so uncomfortable…

marathonmaiden February 10, 2010 at 8:07 am

i kind of like the camo one but i’d never wear it without a top over it (because i’ll admit sometimes i buy really colorful ones so that in the summer it’s my top). plus for $70 that thing better turn my boobs into a gold making machine or someting haha

I’m going to have to go with ghetto fabulous :) Meaning, of course I would buy one if they were cheaper! Probably ONLY one but yeah! lol The zipper ones look uncomfortable but if they aren’t, that’d be awesome. I absolutely hate having to wiggle out of sports bras

Too Jersey Shore for me, and way too little function! Those would not hold my puppies in well enough for actual running. The leopard print one is kind of fabulous, though.

Well, I think that with the style and price tag, these are obviously meant to be worn with no shirt on top. And I’m just not all about that. So, I won’t be going for one any time in the near future. But they’re kinda cute.

ghetto!

Brittany February 10, 2010 at 8:42 am

A little too Jersey Shore for this Alabama girl! And the price… seriously?? No thanks! I’ll spend that money on something someone else will actually see me wearing.
However, I could use that pocket on the front. I tend to carry my phone between the “girls.” Not really a great place for it!

Heather February 10, 2010 at 9:06 am

Hmmm, those are different! I actually like the camo style with the pink. Not really into jewels.

Melissa February 10, 2010 at 9:12 am

I have to say – i think they are ridiculous. :) And no way would i every pay $70 for a sports bra!!!

I guess i could see the appeal if you ran only in a sports bra (with some sort of shorts, of course). But seeing as how i don’t fit in that category, i will stick to my solid color, non bedazzled bras.

RunningBlonde February 10, 2010 at 9:22 am

At first glance they are cute, then they start looking a little Jersey Shore-ish. But, on someone really cute with a classier look than tose girls, one might be able to pull it off better. The zebra print with red sparkles is my fave.

Gwen February 10, 2010 at 9:30 am

Even if they were normally priced I would still pass. That’s not to say someone else couldn’t enjoy them, the prints/bling/other trim just aren’t my style.

Reply

Tiffany February 10, 2010 at 9:32 am

Normal price, I’d probably by one just for fun. It’s something no one else has and I like to be different!
$94, umm, no thanks!

Leigh February 10, 2010 at 9:39 am

Haha those sports bras are terrible! I don’t understand why you would want a sports bra with rhinestones and crystals on it to go work out in…but I guess some people might.

Karli February 10, 2010 at 10:18 am

Waaaay too Snooki for me! Im gonna stick with my 16.99 Champion sports bra hold the bedazzles ;)

Seeing as how I look like a 2nd grader when I wear a sports bra, these are definitely not up my alley.

I just recently started reading your blog. I laugh frequently. :)

I live in AZ and run. It seems you come here sometimes for races. Maybe I will see you blowing past me one these days.

I think they are horrible. They look like bra’s that Stiffler’s mom would wear, but you are right the zebra stripe has potential to be cute ;-) haha

runeatdatesleep February 10, 2010 at 10:58 am

How disgusting. If I saw a girl running down the street in one of these, I might just clothesline her.

If they’re supportive I’d be all for them. But they don’t look like they are….

Plus that price is outrageous.

I have not yet had a run hot enough for me to take my shirt off and run in my sports bra alone, but my cousin tells me I’m not far from losing all shame and going for it now that it’s warming up a bit. I can’t say I would go for one of these tops when it happens though. Hmmm well maybe the camo one, but not for a hundred bucks! That’s crazy talk.

Kristy February 10, 2010 at 12:41 pm

I’d definitely buy one if they were regular priced! I didn’t like all of the styles, but overall I think they’re cute! or maybe i’m just ghetto. ;-)

kara February 10, 2010 at 1:08 pm

Hmmm… I don’t think I could pull these off. Even if I wanted to the hubs would die if I spent that much for a sports bra!

Erin @ Living and Loving In L.A. February 10, 2010 at 1:21 pm

I think these are perfectly acceptable if you weigh less than 120 lbs and can wear them with out a shirt over them. Other than that, I think your sports bra should be kept under another shirt.
Just my opinion!
And yes, $94? I’ll stick with my Target sports bras, thankyouverymuch.

probably a little too jersey shore for me, plus….I guarantee they aren’t going to hold in my double d’s. :)

Reply

Maria February 10, 2010 at 3:45 pm

Umm, I’m not really sure what to say. I think, MAYBE, if they were priced like a Target sports bra, I may wear a couple. And I do like the idea of the ipod holder-I usually shove mine in my bra anyways and then get disgusted when I grab it and it’s all sweaty. I like the idea of the zipper making it easy to get on and off, but not sure a zipper would be comfy.

Overall, I’m undecided and repulsed?

I’m going to have to go with ghetto fab. Im all for bright colors, but the print and rhinestones are a little much for a “sportsbra.” Leave the leopard print for the stilettos :)

Also, I have had problems with front-zip sportsbras. They always seem to cut into my skin!!

they better come w/ implants for that price. or an actual ipod. FUGLY.

the body builder women at my gym wear these…with matching pants. honestly – who cares what you wear as long as you’re doing the work? if ppl wanna dress for success at the gym in addition to dressing for work or the bar – who am i to object?

I think I’ll go buy a sports bra around $20 and just bedazzle it! I like the first one though.

Reply

Shelly February 11, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Yeah, I can see Lynn Curtin and Tamra Barney rockin’ these (esp. at that price), but I think my real boobs would get lost in all that animal printed, rhinestone goodness . . . oh, and the zippers creep me out a little bit. I like the idea of an ipod pocket, though! Perhaps the cheapo bras I buy at Target and TJ Maxx will catch on to that brilliance.
