We made it to…

by SkinnyRunner on February 5, 2010

Our LONG road trip was to Sun Valley, Idaho, to go skiing and snowboarding with my family.  It was long, like 13 hours long.  But first, let’s start from the beginning…

We packed up the rental car:

We grabbed our co-pilots:

And we were off. Fastforward many hours.

We arrive at the Nevada border.  Because gambling is obviously legal there, each tiny town on the north and south border is pretty much all casinos.  It’s like they want to get your first and last dollar in the state.  This was entering Nevada:

A little while later we passed Sin City itself:

Jaybob wanted to see Thunder from Down Under, Chippendale’s or Cher, but I said he could only see Carrot Top.  Needless to say, we kept driving.

We passed miles upon miles of this:

A little tiny coyote named Marni at the rest stop:

This was the craziest gas station.  On one side was Love’s, a high end gas station with random stuff like leather Nascar jackets and crystaline figures.  In the middle was a bunch of slots in the casino.  And on the other side was McDonald’s.  That’s what I call one stop shopping.  What else do ya need??

And finally at 1am we made it to the house where all my family is staying; we were tired, I was so ready for bed (since my normal bedtime is about 9:30), and Jay was missing the Chippendales, but otherwise we were happy to be here and on vacay!

There’s a Love’s truck stop right outside of Baton Rouge, and when we were little my sister would always tell me that it was for gay truckers. :)

I feel like “high end gas station” is an oxymoron. Ha!

Love your pup!

When I first saw that picture of Marni I thought you posted a picture of her in mid-poop! haha. My first half was out in the Nevada desert, in the middle of the night. No lights, lots of desert.
