Celebrity Diets: JWOWW

by SkinnyRunner on January 27, 2010

This article is from HERE on thatsfit.com:

Jenni JWOWW Farley is one of the tan and toned star’s of MTV’s hit reality show Jersey Shore … JWOWW (second from the left in the blue dress) isn’t shy about showing off her body. On her Web site, Farley proclaims “HCG Drops are my key to keeping the weight off.” And if that really is her stay-slim secret, it seems to be working, considering the amount of airtime she spends in her string bikini.

What made Farley try this weight-loss approach? “My girlfriend lost 40 pounds in six weeks on the plan. She tried everything and it worked for her. So I thought if it worked for her, it would work for me.”

Farley told us she did do some research before trying it out: “I would never put anything in my body that would hurt it. As long as you’re not suffering from starvation or headaches or fatigue, it’s fine.”

(pics from her own website)

But 500 calories is not very much — did Farley feel like she was starving? “No, no, it’s weird. You’re not starving — I would never let myself get like that,” she says. “It really cuts your appetite so you don’t need to eat as much.” But even she admits that she’s not a slave to the strict eating plan: “If you’re hungry, eat!” And as for exercise, Farley says she hasn’t worked out in four months. “It’s not really recommended. Light exercise is good, maybe a walk, but you really don’t need to work out.”

Thoughts, beside how alarming it is to still see dragon tattoos??  Are they still “in”?

I don’t know much about that diet..but I don’t care how you feel 500 calories is WAYY to few! That is not healthy!!

They probably don’t recommend working out because you don’t have enough calories to sustain your energy levels. Definitely not healthy, and definitely scary if she’s encouraging other people to do the same.
I hate when people place a greater emphasis on being “thin” than being “fit”. Why can’t they see that thin does not equal fit (or healthy)?! I just don’t get it. :(

umm that’s not a diet. that’s starvation. and isn’t part of being healthy and looking good working out? 500 cals definitely wouldn’t work for doing that. but i guess if the point is to lose weight then not eating is the fastest way to get there. stupid but fast.

People come to my pharmacy to buy syringes for the shots you have to inject for this diet. I always wanna yell “you idiot! You are starving yourself!!!” but I don’t.. I just glare in disgust

there’s an hcg center here-always advertising. it’s alarming to me that there is a diet based on altering your hormone levels – human chorionic gonadotropin. this is crazy – regardless of dosing. there’s no reason to mess with your hormones – which control EVERY process in your body – to lose weight. besides – if anyone was on a “very low calorie” restriction they would lose weight. stupid stupid stupid. it boggles my brain when ppl don’t investigate into science a little bit…real science, not this crap that ppl are selling.

whether you are taking hcg drops or not…if you eat 500 calories a day, umm yeah you’re going to lose weight! the hcg just takes away your appetite, but in my opinion, your body needs a hell of a lot more than 500 calories to function properly. healthy eating goes a long way :)

Something just doesn’t add up here! Only 500 calories and little to no exercise?! Hmmm…how does that work? I don’t know anything about hcg aside from what I just looked up. Totally agree with what Jamie D said above.

New to your blog and love it!

Wow, I have never heard of this diet before. Any “diet” that doesn’t recommend doing it in conjunction with exercises sounds sketchy to me! I definitely couldn’t function on 500 calories a day. That’s like one meal for me.

This is absolutely ridiculous! First of all, she’s nasty to begin with, secondly she’s an idiot and if anyone follows her advice they are, too. What ever happened to the old fashioned eating healthy and exercising? People need to get off the fad diet band wagon and come back to reality. :)

OK – what a hilarious coincidence. I have scheduled a blog post for later today about whether I want to get a tattoo. JWOWW is prominently featured on mine as well. (As the what I DON’T want in a tattoo- no worries) :)

Did you watch Jersey Shore? I did and am only slightly ashamed to admit I loved it. Rumor has it they’ll be back next summah!

I think anything that inquires me injecting needles into myself is a no-no. I’d rather be fat than have to jab myself every day.

3) she gets her workout by fist pumping

i think the whole diet thing is ridiculous, and yet she does have a pretty fab body. Its crazy how she claims that it works so well.

Thanks for answering my sunglasses question! I might have to buy a pair for myself…

I used to pay $81/month for a gym membership, but there were a few issues:

Overcrowded, lines for treadmills/elliptical machines, way too expensive and it didnt have the atmosphere that I liked.

I now run outside or in the small (SMALL!!) gym in my apartment building. Now I pay for the race entry fees instead of the gym fees!

A while ago I inadvertently went on a low cal diet. My fiance was in Atlanta for 6 months working and my BFF at work was at another location so I had no one to eat lunch or dinner with, so I just started eating lean cuisines. I actually lost a lot of weight (15 pounds) and didn’t work out at all (this was before I did triathlons). When I was hungry I would eat fruit and then have my LC’s. But then I started training for triathlons and I ended up in the ER hooked up to an IV because I was working out too much with very little calorie intake.
So if you are going with a low calorie diet…best not to work out :-)

And I don’t do gyms, they drive me insane. I am, however, turning the guest room into my workout space for when I can’t workout outside.
