WORKOUT – (31) Ran outside 2 hrs 28 mins/17.3 miles
Maybe today is National Be a Wimp Day but it felt like all I did was run hills today. I think I kept a decent pace-8:33 but I had to stop so many times and take a rest. I’m SO not in good long distance condition right now.
I keep telling myself that it’s ok to walk to walk during the marathon if I need to; it doesn’t mean you’re a horrible human being. Making fun of people who are walking, now that might make you horrible…

Tomorrow morning we’re flying out of LAX to…. wait for it… Linton, North Dakota, a bustling metropolis of 1,321 people.

This is Main Street and downtown all rolled into one. pic from here
Since we’re not going for the thriving nightlife or the amazing shopping, we’re going to pheasant hunt.

My family goes every year because my dad is a hunting maniac. This will be the 3rd year that J and I’ve gone. I’ve even got my own left-handed camouflage Benelli shotgun. You better believe it.

The bummer is that we’ll be gone for Halloween but we never do much for it anyways so it’s not a huge deal. BUT I am bringing a costume to wear. Where I’ll wear it besides a farm field, I don’t know. It’s a candy corn costume. Please don’t hate me for this; I know it was a mega lapse in judgment but I bought it on sale a couple years ago. That’s the best excuse I have.

Speaking of Halloween, at That’s fit, they have an article about “fitness” Halloween costumes. Being a pseudo-runner myself, I find this incredibly dumb. Yeah, let me go put on my sweaty sports bra and garmin so I can have a “marathon runner” costume on. But then again, this coming from the girl who will be dressed up like a piece of candy in North Dakota. ’nuff said.

That is so cool how much you guys travel. Even though is ND is still better than staying home like me and my hubby. Hope you have fun, I’ve never been hunting but it looks like it would be fun!

Yeah, we’ll be in the middle of Kansas shooting birds next month… can you feel my excitement??? Notsomuch.
Love the candy corn costume, and I totally think you should wear it while hunting.

Not looking forward to being in the middle of nowhere with things chasing me….

Have fun hunting! My dad is a big hunter too! Deer though- no pheasants! However, i do live down the road from this big pheasant hunting farm people drive from the corners of michigan to come to. Tell your dad, you can stay at my house! haha
I went hunting with my dad once– i guess i yapped too much because after that, he never let me go again! ha ha ha ha ha! needless to say, i dont know how to shoot a gun but i could probably gut a deer in 10 seconds flat. no joke.

So you hunt in addition to fish? I’m not a hunter myself. I can’t kill the babies…maybe if there were opossum hunting but who’d want that? I do however like to go shooting my 40 cal S&W. Hubs has a 1911 (they’re like his and her’s bathrobes). I prefer to shoot people–if they come into my house unwelcome rather than animals. Nothing against those who do, I’m just a wussy.

I went hunting with my dad once…I yelled “RUN ANIMALS!!” the entire day. If I were going with you, I’d do the same
.
Have fun! I’m a little on the granola side when it comes to hunting…
