WORKOUT – Ran outside 26.2 miles/3 hrs 41 mins 45 sec

I ran a full marathon distance today, and it kicked my butt.  I am so exhausted right now.  After this run, there was no runner’s high.  It was more like runner’s die.

I think my time was decent for the first full, but I do have to add that I stopped at a lot of stop lights (wasn’t into the Dodgeball-style of training = dodging cars) and filled my water bottle twice; I paused my GARM each time so if I had let it run, it probably would’ve been closer to 12 hours. dodgeball

I’m no expert on marathons, but I don’t think they have stop lights on the courses and they probably don’t stop the time if you want to fill up a water bottle.  Speaking of those…

My hubs bought this one for me online, it was about $25.  I don’t remember who sent me the link for this one, but thanks to everyone who gave me some advice.

It took me about 15 miles honestly before I was comfortable wearing this thing.  It just felt like a lot of weight on my back, and I couldn’t get the fit right for awhile, but finally I just started ignoring it.

I had a banana before the run and 3 shot bloks at mile 12, 16, and 22. clifshotbloksbig

The first 9 miles were slow and I had a hard time getting my head into the run. 10-24 were all gravy.  But by 25 I felt like I had gotten the Tonya Harding treatment to my knees.  I just wanted to quit, but I finished and am so wore out right now that I can’t type anymore and can’t think of anything funny except Tonya’s face here.tonya-harding

CONGRATS on the long run! that is awesome. i finally made it over my 3-mile hump on sunday and that was outside. i ran 4 miles in a little under 40 minutes. i was very proud of myself. but, i still don’t think i will ever make it to the 26.2 mile marker :)

That’s a-mazing! As a new runner, I am just curious what your heart rate was like during this run? I am not new to fitness, but when it comes to running I really know how to wimp out!
